about ode2joy

I enjoy life and the beauty that exists around me.  One reason I love photography is I may help make someone else open their eyes to the wonder that exists everywhere.  Another reason is: my father loved photography and this is something I inherited from him. I like to think he would be proud of me. I have been married 35 years and have a 25 year old son.  I am a nurse and love people.

I've always loved to take pics then learned to scuba dive in '91 and got my first underwater camera soon after. But I'm an amateur compared to soooo many out there. I get lucky from time to time.

Actually the whale sharks were in Holbox, Mexico. But you are correct....it's a whole other world down there and so beautiful. Hope we, as a society don't destroy it!

Morning Elaine...Just curious as to who "resorted to name calling" on the blog about parallel communities. I went back through and nothing really stood out. I'm not on a "mission" , I was just wondering who and what was siad. Maybe it's just too early on a Sunday morning for me to see it. :) You be good and have a great day!

I agree, but seems that if it doesn't directly and clearly affect someones daily life they don't care much. Perhaps it is getting better, I'm not sure but am ever hopeful.

:) No, I'm not ready to convert over to Islam either. I was just wondering where the personal comments had come from. But after going back and re-reading the interchange between you and another on the blog, I could see where the inference could be picked up. No need to apologize in my mind. You were expressing an opinion as were they. I didn't think either one of y'all said anything untoward. I can understand about your friend geting anxious, but on the other hand I have also seen where there is a sense of people being tired of having to tip toe aroundthe issues sometimes. radical Islam is very definetely against our way of life here in America and Western Europe. France and England will see the opening rounds of the coming clash between cultures and hopefully the outward sweep of radical Islam will be stopped...again...much as the Battle of Tours saw the Islamic expansion into Europe finally stopped...hopefully the Europeans will eventually wake up before it's too late.

Glad you continue to enjoy.

Yes, I was in the Army and lucky enough to be in during a time when I didn't get shot at. I was a medic with my last duty station in Schwinefurt, Germany. Enlisted in April '74 and got out in Apr '77. My son just got out this month from a four year hitch in the Marines, 1 tour in each of Iraq and Afghanistan. Dad retired from the Navy after 25+ years in uniform. Several of my uncles have served in both Marines, Army and Navy. :) I guess the family is slightly militaristic? ;) Naw, it just seemed to be the thing to do to pay my debt to this nation in a small way. Three years of your life ain't much. Some give all of their years, and then some. Don't let these t-storms get ya. They're bad down east it looks like on the radar.

BTW...You express yourself better than I have a right to hope to. I'm feel for your husband, Grandma Odell had a stroke before she passsed and it was very hard on all of us. So I have a slight idea of the frustration. I sympatize with your husband as it has be doubly hard sometimes to break thru the afflictions that may not be apparent to to others. As for picking a fight, I didn't mean to give that impression. I just thought maybe I wasn't seeing something that was there. I sometimes thnk I get dyslexia or something on here. Later on I can come back and see something crystal clear that was invisible to me earlier. :) I can attest to starting fights. I regret each and every one but sometimes a cetain word or phrase just pulls the scab off. And you know what's funny? Several times when I really got riled and shot back some hot retorts and smartazz remarks, the phrase or word that set me off wasn't aimed at me to begin with. :| That's when I want to crawl back into a hole for a while.

Thanks, I normally just say good morning to be polite. I'm not much of a chatter in the morning. ;) Thanks

I was pretty much a barracks rat while in Germany. I kick myself for not taking full advantage of time over there. I did a few tours, a few Volksmarches...that kind of thing. Form what I saw it was one fantastic place to travel about in. Clean and orderly were my big impressions of the place and the people. And so many things that were hundreds and hundreds of years old almost in every village and city.

Hi Ya Elaine! Nice pic of you and Mike.

Also nice pic of the puddy kat up there.

Oh,you are wicked funny!LOL'

Why thank you!

Twenty five? Kewl! My son turned 22 in March. He is my only child. Do you have others?

BTW: Want another cat? lol

Wow! That was deep! lol

There is quite a bit I would say but there is someone on golo who reports directly back to him if I say anything at all about him...good or not.

I will say this much, my son is a billiant young man with the ability to be whatever he wants to be in life.

Glad we are now of aquaintance!

Now about the cat....

That's funny,I was answering your question as you were writing it!My son would probably do the same thing if he knew someone who goloed. He had me warned not to show is baby etc. pictures to his girlfriend until he said ok.He thinks he was born adult I guess. Our relationship has evolved into a good friendship as well as parent-son one.Well, let's talk again later,I need to go back to sleep.I worked last night and will turn into a zombie if I don't sleep some more for tonight.Great talking to you.I'll read your post before I go sleep.

Oh my! Gracie sounds so special...I have one cat left, Midnight. He gets so lonely and the street cats are always trying to pick a fight with him.

Thank you for the handshake...I forget about those things...lol

Get you some good rest and we'll talk again soon!

It's ok dear...you are tired, need some rest. See...logical explanation! lol

Hi Ode! I am so sorry I was already gone by the time you came by my blog. I really enjoy chatting with you, and I look forward to coming back soon. :-) Have a blessed week! {{{{{HUGS}}}}}

Map I'll nap then.

You have a safe happy weekend too. You're the best!!!

Good morning Ode! Have a wonderful weekend!!! {{{{{HUGS}}}}}

Good morning, ode! I had my 70-300mm lens on when I took those pictures, so that let me stay about 10-15 feet away for those pictures. Once you account for cropping, they turn-out looking closer than they actually were! Those pictures were taken in Franklin County, which is just to the north and east of Raleigh.

Feel free to contact me at anytime at javajoespictureoftheday@gmail.com

I made that email account specifically for GOLO, so my personal email inbox wouldn't fill up with those GOLO notifications (just this morning, my GOLO inbox had 201 new emails!)

Enjoy your weekend, and stay safe out there. Don't forget to take pictures!

Hi Ode -

Thanks for stopping by my profile and recognizing my service.

I don't think anyone was offended. Why do you ask?

God bless.

RB

Thank you...Needless to say I am worried sick. His health isn't the best, but the heart surgery is necessary. From what I've learned, he is in good hands. Muah!

howdy neighbor! I've lived in Fuquay and Varina... were on the Fuquay side now....

Thanks Elaine -

I was a USMC Sergeant from 1969-1972.

My dad was a Marine in WWII.

My nephew is a Marine currently serving at Pendleton in CA. When his broken foot heals, he will most likely be headed to Afganistan.

Thanks for all you do. You're the best!!!

God bless.

RB

I don't want to list where i live here but you can email me.... its on my profile.

i've always enjoyed photography... maybe you could help me start as a newb .

Thanks! YOu too!!!

I am SOOOOO Busy right now I have no free days... but that will change in August. =) I don't have a camera. What kind do you have?

I'm going to have to start out with a semi cheap digital camera... =)

Good Friday mornin'!

I saw your post on the Welcome Wagon blog: "I have three galleries on my profile page. I thought they would automatically be posted on galleries with the blogs, etc. How do I post the pictures to the public Gallery? Thanks.Have a great weekend."

I'll be glad to help! Could you be a little more specific about what you're trying to do? I just want to make sure I answer the right question!

No problem! I can't stand it when I ask someone a question, and they answer a completely different question -- that's what I was trying to avoid doing, so I just wanted to make sure I understood what you were asking first! :) (And I apologize in advance if I don't answer your question!)

The image gallery list is just like the blog list: only the most recent galleries are shown. Also, make sure your galleries aren't set to "Private" or "Friends Only," because if they are, they may or may not show up in the list. Just to check, I see you have 5 image galleries: Mike and I, Topsail Island Trip, Bird Pictures, Structural Beauties, and Animals Pix I Love.

If you have more than that, check the visibility settings for each gallery that I didn't list above.

Also, even if you add any images to an existing gallery, the gallery should be listed in the side panel (Aa long as it isn't private).

If that didn't help answer your question or solve your problem, ask me again! :) It's no problem!

Thank you, the negativity on here is overwhelming at times. I dont care for that part of Golo at all. Nice to hear some upbeat conversation and I look forward to more.

RRB is messed up. Poor thing! I'd avoid her because of the way she operates. See my description of her MO on the Wake Up blog.

If you ever want to get together to play some real Scrabble, let me know. It's my favorite game.

God bless.

RB

Those pond pictures are great! It looks so peaceful, but I bet there are a million snakes around there!!

Thank you for being a friend!! (hugs)

Thank you kindly for the thoughts and paryers. Dad is an absolutely wonderful man. Hopefully he will come home tomorrow.

Again, thank you.

{{{hugs}}}

You have some great critter pics...I just bought a book on the birds of prey. Of course the best pic is Jenny and Mandy, I luv Goldens. thanks, J

I just saw the spider pictures. :-) The one web of the thornback spider looks as big as the structure in the background. Yikes! Can you imagine getting wrapped in that thing??! I hope your evening is peaceful and blessed. :-)

Thanks Sandra, actually it was an optical illusion. The building is 20-25 feet behind the web.Heehee.Tricky yes?

Thanks Jackadoo, those two dogs are the most loving creatures God ever made!!!!

I had a big red boy, Duncan, lost him 5 yrs ago in a divorce. He was a big (95 lb) sweetheart, and died soon after. He was my third Golden, and none lived longer than 8 yrs, usually spleen or bladder cancer.

Elaine, those are some interesting shots of spider webs. Nice.

Whew! Thank God! That thing looked enormous...

Have an awesome day, Ode!!!

God Morning, just looked at your web image.Interesting and very nice.Hope you have a very good day.
