Once I decided - I mean TRULY made the decision - to quit, it was not hard at all and I didn't even crave one. I went years 'toying' with the idea, but never really committed to is, thus the occassional 'social' smoker. But I'd seen one too many people fall ill and had to ask myself, why do I continue?
I wish everyone who does and is considering quitting good luck. Stand firm and ask yourself WHY you smoke and what you'll miss if you should fall ill from smoking? Looking at my kids and knowing that I want to be around for a long time for/with them was great incentive.

... gees, I hate quitting!
40 years, it's been. I worked hard to learn to smoke - it didn't just happen and I didn't just drift into it. Taking up the habit was offered to me as a way to be accepted into the male-dominated world of the US Marine Corps and Navy when I first contracted with the DOD, and it worked. So did I. In the process, I learned the joy of mixing a good cigarette with a great cup of coffee and stimulating conversations or ponderous thinking.
And now...
Geees, I hate quitting!
