about duggrr

I am just a guy with an opinion like eveyone else.  I do tend to engage most in conversations about religion.  I am an atheist and am intrigued as to how the theistic mind works.

That doesn't mean that I don't think you are entitled to your own belief system.  It also doesn't mean that I condemn everything about your religion.

What it does mean is that I don't understand your thought processes.  I can't understand why you believe as you do.  That is what I like to debate.  I want folks to explain to me their reasoning behind their actions and beliefs.

Good to have you on board Doug - - objectivity is somewhat lacking at times.

Hope you enjoy it here - - Welcome.

JOO

(But really, please don't take my advice. I've grown to love the exchanges you've had with NSD over the last coupla weeks!)

Thanks.

I am beginning to feel bad about it, to tell the truth. At a certain point, picking on someone makes you look bad, no matter how much they deserve it. Thankfully others have picked up the slack. There are times, like today, where I cannot resist, however.

dug, trying to bring others into the fold, yes, but not by force. I've shared my beliefs in this blog but I feel I've done it in a loving way not in a hateful way. Does that make sense?

I gotta scoot,,it's time for the school bus

I wanted to thank you for a civil conversation. So many times when religion is brought into a discussion people get ugly. I don't like to do that and I try very hard not to. I want to thank you for not doing that either. I enjoyed our discussion.

Hope you have a great afternoon,,,my children are calling

I just came back for a few (all my daycare babies have gone early for today but I have a meeting tonight so I can't stay) and I saw where your blog got pulled. I can't imagine why, I thought we were all being civil, for the most part anyway. Did you ever find out why it got pulled?

Anyway, if you do, let me know, if you don't mind. I'm curious as well.

Have a great evening and now, I have to go chair a women's meeting. If that don't scare you, I don't know what will

Doug,

I wanted to revisit the blog you started that led to what was a rare civil and thoughtful conversation about Christianity. I can't imagine why it was removed, but perhaps someone made a stupid or nasty comment. The topic tends to bring that out in some people.

Have a great evening.

Well, I'm glad you figured out why it got pulled. All it takes is one sour apple to hit the abuse button. I think I've only ever hit the abuse button once and the person was being really really hateful with a personal attack. I tend to live and let live for the most part. I figure I have enough to deal with keeping my own self on track to worry too much about how someone else choses to live their life. (which is actually Biblical but so many times people don't live that way,,,lol)

I did enjoy the conversation yesterday, I like to debate. Must be my redhair,,lol

Hope you have a great Friday and a wonderful weekend

Hey Doug,

What I dislike about the sound of that is that if someone doesn't like your opinion they can shut you off by flagging you. Flagging should be limited to something way out of line.

I saw nothing in your blog worthy of flagging. You were just asking questions and people were answering. Someone just decided that didn't like it and took advantage.

Have a great day.

pta blocked me, so i can no longer comment on his blog. but, to answer your question about who a non believer is supposed to trust, i will say it like this. anyone can call themselves a christian, just like anyone can call themselves gay. however, if i call myself gay (which i do not) but still date girls, am i really gay? actions speak louder than words. i could go for hours about how hitler was not christian in his actions OR his words. one thing that makes it very clear that he was not a christian, however, is the simple fact that he had an agenda to eradicate the christian church in germany. would a christian do that? doesn't make sense, does it? he only referred to religion when it would build support for him, and if you read what he said, you will realize that he was defining his own religion. the only thing that he truly worshipped was the nazi movement.

i agree with your point about christians warring between themselves. however, when you combine hitler's words, his actions, and his intent to eradicate the christian church, i really cannot find one thing about him that makes him a christian. i am not alone in my belief...most scholars that have studied hitler agree that he was not a christian, but in fact defining his own religion that was embedded somehow in the worship of the nazi party.
