This group is for the purpose of discussing weather in all its manifistations. It is not a forum for discussing the political issues surrounding climate change.
Topics will range from general discussions of weather-related events, weather types and conditions, emergency bulletins, scientific and lay discussions on all facets of weather observation, prediction, and models.
The group is open to anyone who is interested in any facet of the field of meteorology. Members are encouraged to write articles describing weather-related events that affected them personally, monographs on the varied aspects of weather and forecasting, and any other weather-related topic as they may deem appropriate.

Ahhhh...first potential topic of discussion.
When someone makes a statement like that, folks who do not understand the facination with weather will jump on it, making all sorts of comments about how inhumane we are for glossing over the human tragedy often associated with severe events. They do not understand that while we have empathy and concern for those injured or killed, our focus is on the weather event itself and the underlying science behind the storm.
Just because we are facinated an enamored with the destruction a massive hurricane is capable of does not mean that we wish it upon anyone or seek to diminish the loss of life, limb, and property.
