about brides-to-be

Are you planning a wedding or close to having one? Is your mother or mother-in-law driving you insane? Maybe eveyone has forgotten that this is YOUR day and it's all about YOU!

Whatever the case may be, you are certainly not alone. No one chooses to become a Bridezilla, but it can happen overnight.

Let's make this a space for brides-to-be to discuss it all, empathize and provide support until that fateful day arrives.

Well, I'am still pondering ideas as we are packing up my house to move. I'm excited to plan a wedding, but I've got to move before I can...I get addicted to looking on the wedding websites. I've register online at The Knot website, which lets you keep your own wedding notebook. So far I've heard this website has been a wonderful tool for organinzing. We are still trying to figure out where we would like to have it, and the guest list, of course. Oh yeah, and of course I've already looked at tons of dresses =).

As we speak getting ready to.thanks(smile)

Hi there Sarian. Why don't you create a GOLO profile and join us in the group? -Angela

Hi I am sarian turner I am a event planner. I coordinated my own wedding back in 2001 so i know how stressful it can be coordinating your own wedding. My company serves the North Carolina area. You can visit our site at www.brightideasproductions.net. Let us know how we can service you.

Lolly---I just did a "destination" wedding cruise for two couples who had rented a huge motorized sailboat in Miami. They sailed it to near Myrtle where they picked me up and we went to Jamaica, where we anchored, they got married and we had a "reception" on board. Some of their friends somehow flew there and joined us. The reception was two days, the whole trip six. They said they had saved to do it for a couple of years. I bet. Fun, fun, fun and memorable. Good luck whatever you decide! ncweddingdj.com Mike Lewis

Thanks Lolly!

I'll definitly be asking lots of questions, as I have no idea about any of this chaos!

a destination wedding. I'm so thrilled!"

Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey there, I'm joining the group because.....I just got engaged yesterday to the man of my dreams. Woooooohoooooooooo! He asked me on his birthday! We haven't set the date yet, but we are thinking about a destination wedding. I'm so thrilled!

My wife and I have deejayed . emceed 1400+ wedding recetions and done ceremony music for many, many weddings since 1980. We have found that a great wedding planner (recetion coordinator) can often make a big difference. Especially for larger, more complicated weddings. Someone who knows how, what, when, where and can help can be invaluable. Even though we do all the coordinating (if the Bride and Groom allow it) at the receeption, we rarely get involved before that with "details." So, in addition to "references, references, refernces," always shop around before deciding, too. ncweddingdj.com

"Even though my wedding is 14 months away, the stress level is pretty high. Any kind words of wisdom to ease my nerves??"--lhbh06

lhbh06: I've come up with what I call the "5-people" rule. That is, to end up married, all you need is 5 people (plus the marriage license, of course.) They are: you, your fiancé, someone authorized to perform the ceremony and 2 witnesses. The person who conducts the ceremony doesn't have to be the one you planned on, and the witnesses can be any two adults off the street. Everything else is just icing on the cake and whatever goes wrong just makes a good story for later. (Like in squirrelingdervish's story, for example.)

Now, mind you, I came up with this well AFTER my own wedding. I was such a nervous bride, that my family didn't tell me until quite a few years later that my wedding cake had fallen apart.

Good luck to you and all the brides (and grooms) to be.
