announcement

After the blogpost about school supplies, I thought it would be a good idea to create a GOLO Group for teachers. I will ultimately take the background and assign someone else as an administrator, but I'd love to see this kind of group here on GOLO. Right now it's invitation only, but we could change it to suit the needs of the group.

Group: I posted one of the blogs publicly (but anonymously) and put it on the GOLO homepage. You may want to go check it out to see what kind of responses trickle in. Thanks ____for letting me share it! You can find it here. http://www.wral.com/golo/blogpost/3543629/

Have a GREAT Sunday. -Angela

I was at Staples yesterday - teachers can get up to 25 packs of filler paper for 9 CENTS! take your id badges. There are even more specials for teachers. Ask the manager...Staples has been very good to me!

I know what you mean about the pencils. I have a horrible time with Roseart pencils and crayons. Also, American Eagle pencils. There's one kind that comes already sharpened and they are the best ever! The ones at Big Lots looked good though. I need to sharpen one and see for sure.

I have changed my mind about cheap pencils. I will only buy ones made in the USA. I find that cheap ones manufactured somewhere foreign clog my sharpener and won't hold any type of point. The "lead" appears to be especially inferior.

Wonder if we could do a blog or just here on the main page about good deals for school supplies that we've found. I found an Eureka vacuum, 3 in 1, turns into a hand vac and a stand up vac for those wonderful glitter days. Also, Big Lots has packages of 24 pencils for 50 cents! I bought 10 packs! Anybody else found any good deals? Think this should be a blog or just here on the the main page? I'd love some feedback! Hope ya'll are having a blessed Sunday :)

so what do we have to do to get an invite?

Angela, in other states I see local walmarts post large boards with lists from teacher's classrooms so the parents can work as early as July 1st to obtain the necessary supplies for school. It helps them financially in the long run. I wonder if this is possible to do through golo? Since so many parents are already here in this forum and are anxious to get a head start on things. Just an idea.

I need a job! I want to be a teacher again!

I am so excited to have found this! I hope we are able to get some interesting discussions going...
