Smile a lot -- it makes people wonder what you're up to! I grew up in the middle of nowhere, and that will always be my home. Now I'm into computer technologies -- it drives me crazy sometimes, but I love it.

Since joining GOLO, I've decided to start a Picture of the Day blog. Each day, I'll try my best to post a photo from my personal collection. While I'm at it, I'll ask a few questions or make a few comments to get your brains working and the conversation started. Everybody has a story to share -- feel free to share yours!

  • javajoe's Picture of the Day archives.
    • Here, you'll find all of my Picture of the Day posts from the past. Even if the day has already passed, stop in and share your comments - I'd love to hear them.
  • javajoe's Picture of the Day Group
    • Join the group to keep up with my daily blog post. Sometimes I post at 1-2AM, and by the time many of you login, my blog has disappeared from the GOLO homepage. So join the group, and easily find the link directly to my blog each day after I post!

Hey Joe, I grew up around West End, in Moore County. You know, down in the Sandhills, it doesnt snow very much. My Dad ran a gas station and I used to hang out there and watch the sky and the weather so intently, hoping against all odds that it would snow. I was in the military for ten years, and traveled all over the world several times. I LOVED Alaska, and love the winters...even though sometimes it seems unbearable!! It has been a nice enough winter, although, they say it is the fourth coldest October in the over 100 yrs. that they have been keeping records.

Carolina Pottery, huh? Did you spend way too much money like I usually do? I really should move away from here for that reason alone !!

IF I wanted to re-post my tree blog, how do I do it ?

Thanks for the LED blog! :)

I sorta figured that would be my option. Do you think the tree blog is worth another go 'round ? Not really sure it was too helpful, most folks prolly have their own way of doing things ??? Your honest opinion, please ! :)

I'd love to give it a try honey, with your help. Not sure how to link blogs....I'm a computer idiot about such stuff ! Yes, I'd love to try it...you're such a nice guy...

I did it ! Reposted the tree blog, too easy. Most things are if you just ask somebody in the know...thanks darlin'...

Have a great night

I am going to try to get everything hooked up Saturday. I will let you know how it goes.

We might just do that. It's hard getting good pictures, though, with any camera we own. If it's too dark, you just see colored blurs instead of bulbs and if it's too light outside then it just doesn't do it justice. As for watching progress, we do it all in 1 day. We are nearly crippled by evening but it's all worth it when it's done. We add something new every year. Last year it was a Ferris Wheel. This year it's a Teeter Totter and a few other things. Love it. Love it. Love it.

Serious as a heart attack, I think it was 102.9 or 93.9- they were playing Xmas music like every 5th song.

BTW, I always look at your pictures. They're quite good.

OMG...seriously?? Bear tracks? That is my neck of the woods. That is kinda scary!!!!

lol...if you are, it was a good guess..i remember you saying you were from the louisburg area...i have a lot of friends and family out that way that are going tomorrow...when you said you would be gone all day, it just kind of made sense...

"you'd be a good private investigator, you know?"

Do ya know anybody hiring?

I hope you had a good trip!

Well, thank you!! I hope you've had a marvelous weekend too!!

Not sure if I can blog from there or not, but I'll try it. Can't wait for your tomato cage blog. I've never made one. What is a light ball , exactly ?? LOL!! Where do you live, if you don't mind sharing that info ??

Hey Javajoe, we just got back from seeing Rain: Beatles Tribute. It was a lot of fun. I hope your weekend has been nice.

Darlin', I look forward to anything you post. You always have some great ideas. You've been very helpful and supportive to folks on Golo. I like you, dude.

Have a great week yourself....

Christmas Carol "

I took my kids to see it years ago. The set and costumes are wonderful. Back then, the play was more geared towards kids. It may have changed.

I did not realize that Durham was jumping into the Broadway series. With the economy down, it will be tough for two theaters this close to find supporters.

The Christmas Music of Mannheim Steamroller by Chip Davis Monday, Dec 1 8:00p at Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts: Memorial Auditorium, Raleigh, NC Mannheim steamroller christmas concert

We saw them at Easter and loved them. If you like this type of music, this might be nice for Christmas.

If you like Ballets, we have seen some nice exerimental ballet companies around Christmas, too.

Thanks Joe !! And you be nosy anytime you want. I love it when they start playing Christmas songs on the radio. I'm a little earlier this year than usual, but what can I say...the mood struck.

BTW, thanks for the tip about the ownership of the theaters. I'll tell hubby to take a close look at the series next year, and make sure that it is the same quality, before we buy tickets next year.

The Nutcracker "

We took the kids to see that. Again, nice sets and costumes. If you don't like ballet, I'd take the entertainment dollars elsewhere. It is still a ballet.

We saw the Trans Siberian and loved it. It is similar to Mannheim.

I do not know about the 3 redneck tenors. I will google it.

http://www.3rednecktenors.com/showdates.htm

looks interesting. I bet it is fun

The year we went it was mid-November - the tree was still enclosed in scaffolding, but we watched the skaters. Fifth Ave windows were great, too.

im back =)

Hey,hope you had a good weekend.Like your profile picture, beautiful.

I'll look into that Christmas group, it sounds interesting. Thanks! As far as Nascar and Christmas, it's easy and I'll try and post a pic of my tree soon. BTW, I'm a guy, well I was the last time I checked. LOL

Hee hee! Me too - as I don't even have a gun. Can my feet (the smell) be considered a deadly weapon????????/ LOL!

Beth

Hee hee! I sure did start it. Thank god for odor eaters. LOL!

:-)

Beth

Guess what I actually found a Christmas story website. You can even get a tour of the old house if you like. lol might have to go there.

The stores around here just kind of throw their stuff up..it is not what I would call decorating. Maybe they need to hire shoebaby. Also I have to tell you that I got the snowmachine all together and on the tree. I love it. It is so soothing. The pump actually makes a little noise like the ocean. So to just sit and listen and watch the snow makes a beautiful end to a gruesome day. I have not taken any pics yet, but I will.

I'm glad you thought it was funny. I was trying to be funny and I was hoping it wasn't sounding to 'stick in the mud' ish.

Love the tree. It is so peaceful.

I'm hoping for a big dumping of snow any time this winter - I miss it! Great pics, btw

That is funny *LOL* Major Coke Crash!!! I remember my Uncles doing the gum wrapper chains when I was growing up...they would see how many times they could go around their room. Then the old tabs that we would chain together.

I love the tree. I am going to Lowe's tomorrow and get the stuff to make me one of those.

Java: I am so impressed with the content in your serious Christmas Decorator's group. Keep it coming. I will definitely highlight some of it on the WRAL.com holiday page and let you know where to find it. Where on earth do you come up with this stuff? -Angela

I took care of it. Try to post now.

Hiya~javajoe....

Wanted to stop by and check you out. I enjoy your blogs each day. Don't always comment, but I do enjoy the pics, and thoughts.

The pix are great Joe. Love the old fashioned tree with the paper chain. My advice is to get to CP early. That place is nuts on Saturday and this being the weekend before Thanksgiving, it will be a mad house...

Hey you, love, love, love, the tree in the red feather wreath. The homemade paper chain is pretty, I liked that alot. What other colors besides red, are on the white tree? Where do you put it? Will it have a theme ? Do you do other theme trees ?

No problem. The ones at night are really nice. My daughter's baton group will be in both of them.. We will also be in Raleigh's tomorrow.

"Now that's a cool racing tree!"

Thanks JJ, I enjoy it! :)

Joe - that garland is pretty plain by itself, too. I just keep sticking stuff in it and throw some lights up there to give it a little character. Just wait for Stella's pix....hers over the mirror is spectacular.

The one in my area does so I'm sure yours does too. They are pretty reasonable. This year I am going to go to the after christmas sales and stock up for next year. Michaels usually has some cute decorations also.

Hey Joe - may not be online much tomorrow so I just wanted to drop by and say that I hope you and yours have a great Thanksgiving.....

Red gave me a set of those! They're kind of hard to put on to be honest. If you look really close in the pic (link) you'll see a single version used. LOL

"I bout fell out my chair when I saw your tree topper!"

A lot of the anti-Gordo fans say that's the right tree topper as Jeff always did like something up his................*rolls eyes* LOL

Hey - hope you have a great Thanksgiving!
