Love the movies? Tired of the same critics over and over who never seem to like what you do? How about a place where real people, with lives can discuss, rate and warn others about movies!

Everyone's welcome!

about mad about movies

This group is to discuss movies, review movies, analyze or even simply warn others about movies. Classic movies, movies already on DVD or current out on the big screen. it makes no difference - talk about them all!

Also- we can talk about actors, actresses and their careers - likes and don't(s), directors - good and bad and screen writers. It's all about MOVIES!

IMPORTANT NOTE: I don't like spoilers and I won't do that to anyone intentionally.  I would appreciate it if the thrillers aren't given away or surprise endings are blown, etc.  I very rarely actually go to a movie. I can't stand people talking and cell phones ringing and getting my chair kicked. It's not worth what you pay anymore. So more often than not, I wait for something to come out on DVD before I watch it.

While I'm horrible with names and I'm always the person who can say, "I know I've seen XXXX in something before..", I love movies. Everyone has an addiction of some sort, something they honestly can't and don't want to be without. Movies are that way for me. I'll watch just about anything from Anime (except tenticle porn) to classics, to musicals to foreign films (yes I can sit through subtitles)

Movies are my "Calgon". If it is worth a darn, it takes me away from the reality of bills, work, family drama and any other stress and allows me to be engrossed in something other than real life for an hour or more.

So if you are a movie junkie like me? Think you seen something rare, odd and most likely not heard of? Or just witnessed the worst movie ever and are dying to get your 2 hours back and need to share?

Then this is the place for you!

I will try to keep up with assigning "Editor" here for anyone. I would really like that anyone who wants to post a blog within this group - can. So bare with me.

Sounds like this is the place for me...i LOVE movies and watch all kinds.

Can't wait to chat it up with fellow moviehollics =)

welcome JustBeachy! Don't be afraid to post your own reviews either!

Also, talk about directors - actors and actresses - screen writers. You name it!

How interested are you in the older movies - 1939 to 1970? Will there be any discussion on such movies?

Dj - I'm interested if you are. I enjoy many older movies personaly. I just watched Desk Set with Katherine Hepburne the other day.

To answer your question DJ - I think it would be wonderful. I wasn't personally born until 1971, therefore there is a large gap in my movie knowledge till around mid 1980s. Most of what I know comes from having gotten hooked on classics. When AMC channel came about, I watched a lot of those movies with my Grandmother and became instantly addicted. But I still hadn't made it all the way into the late 60s or 70s yet. LOL You can only have 500 movies in your Netflix queue and I have 479 currently!!

It would be a awesome if you had any movies during that time that you would love to blog about and discuss.

i like old b/w movies...freaks..browning...m...fritz lang...i dont go to many movies today...o o wait i saw cloverfield the other day....i had forgotten....

your reviews are great...my review of cloverfield....blair witch meets "something unknown" in manhattan. the fliming is that hand held style in blair witch..the actors are unknown and will remain that way. i cant really say more without spoiling it...i would give it 2 stars out of 5...but i do not like that hand held camera style.

i will do a real review when i watch a real movie...lol..cloverfield wasnt my cup of tea

Let me say this. I really enjoyed some of M Night Shamalon's earlier work (Sixth Sense, Signs, Unbreakable) but then he gives us the village. I can't put into words how disappointed I was in that movie. Everyone deserves a dud now and then so I was hopeful when I went to see the happening.

IMHO it really wasn't up to par. It seemed like he wanted to make sure this movie had some gore in it, but the gore seemed almost out of place in a way. Then I really did not like any of the characters that much. Let me say this, I was not on my seat worrying about the main characters dieing in fact I kind of rooted for that by the end.

Then there were several times (SEVERAL TIMES) where logic/physics/all reality was just tossed aside. I mean I know it is fiction, but if your fiction is set in the real world then it should at least function like the real world. People should act as most people act normally.

Also, if you are going to provide an explanation of why events are happening, you should at least have it explain it and try to make it somewhat believable. Don't give me some half baked idea that only addresses half the questions and think your done.

I must say that M Night is now on probation. I will not pay to see one of his movies at the theater again. I will watch it on DVD.
