announcement

Love the movies? Tired of the same critics over and over who never seem to like what you do? How about a place where real people, with lives can discuss, rate and warn others about movies!

Everyone's welcome!

about mad about movies

This group is to discuss movies, review movies, analyze or even simply warn others about movies. Classic movies, movies already on DVD or current out on the big screen. it makes no difference - talk about them all!

Also- we can talk about actors, actresses and their careers - likes and don't(s), directors - good and bad and screen writers. It's all about MOVIES!

IMPORTANT NOTE: I don't like spoilers and I won't do that to anyone intentionally.  I would appreciate it if the thrillers aren't given away or surprise endings are blown, etc.  I very rarely actually go to a movie. I can't stand people talking and cell phones ringing and getting my chair kicked. It's not worth what you pay anymore. So more often than not, I wait for something to come out on DVD before I watch it.

While I'm horrible with names and I'm always the person who can say, "I know I've seen XXXX in something before..", I love movies. Everyone has an addiction of some sort, something they honestly can't and don't want to be without. Movies are that way for me. I'll watch just about anything from Anime (except tenticle porn) to classics, to musicals to foreign films (yes I can sit through subtitles)

Movies are my "Calgon". If it is worth a darn, it takes me away from the reality of bills, work, family drama and any other stress and allows me to be engrossed in something other than real life for an hour or more.

So if you are a movie junkie like me? Think you seen something rare, odd and most likely not heard of? Or just witnessed the worst movie ever and are dying to get your 2 hours back and need to share?

Then this is the place for you!

Anyone seen Mamma Mia?

Willowdreams - sorry I'm behind in answering you. All you have to do is go under "blog posts" and click on the "View all blogs" link. From there, you go to the bottom and select "Add blog" and go to town!!! Everyone here has editor status. They are welcome to post anything they want about movies, actors/ actresses/ directors, etc.

how do I do a blog on this group ? should I just start here or where ?

ROFL!!!!

Yep - Also I have seen Mark Wahlberg do some great work in other movies. I seriously kept getting a feeling throughout the movie that at some point he decided this movie was going to suck and just started to phone it in.

it's possible his imagination and talent petered out

HAHA! I can't disagree with you on those points Ryoung! I think I liked him for his being "different". After so many movies, you get tired of the same old story line over and over and over. While I agree with you on The Village, I liked it for it's uniqueness.

Part of me says - well, he started writing when he did The Village, but I was wrong. He actually wrote the Sixth Sense as well. But I think I'm with you, after The Happening, he's on my probation list. He's all "when the dvd comes out" till I see better!

Also, if you are going to provide an explanation of why events are happening, you should at least have it explain it and try to make it somewhat believable. Don't give me some half baked idea that only addresses half the questions and think your done.

I must say that M Night is now on probation. I will not pay to see one of his movies at the theater again. I will watch it on DVD.

Let me say this. I really enjoyed some of M Night Shamalon's earlier work (Sixth Sense, Signs, Unbreakable) but then he gives us the village. I can't put into words how disappointed I was in that movie. Everyone deserves a dud now and then so I was hopeful when I went to see the happening.

IMHO it really wasn't up to par. It seemed like he wanted to make sure this movie had some gore in it, but the gore seemed almost out of place in a way. Then I really did not like any of the characters that much. Let me say this, I was not on my seat worrying about the main characters dieing in fact I kind of rooted for that by the end.

Then there were several times (SEVERAL TIMES) where logic/physics/all reality was just tossed aside. I mean I know it is fiction, but if your fiction is set in the real world then it should at least function like the real world. People should act as most people act normally.

i will do a real review when i watch a real movie...lol..cloverfield wasnt my cup of tea
