There are laws in place right now that were not in place during that time. Laws that were put here for a reason. Primarily to reign in some control on how many immigrants this country can take and to control who comes in by what/ how they can benefit/ contribute to society.
This country is already drowning in debt from American Citizens who are unskilled and uneducated. What we absolutely cannot afford is to add 12 to 20 million more.
The immigration system is not corrupt - but it is broken. I've spent the last 8 years helping 2 friends get through the process. It is possible and to say otherwise is inaccurate or misunderstood
