about crocus

"You must be the change you wish to see in the world"
-Mahatma Gandhi

Hey guys/gals.  This is just an FYI.  I am going through my friends list.  I'm going to be pretty ruthless about it as I am going to be switching to friends only soon.

Don't take it the wrong way if I remove you.  In the past, I've  typically accepted all friends requests.  However, this means that if I want to post things friends only it is pretty much pointless as I have all kinds of folks on my list.

I'm going to go through my friends list and remove anyone that I haven't spoken with recently or who I really don't have that much in common with.   There are a group of folks on here that love the drama and go poking around other people's profiles looking for it.   And truthfully, if I think that your friends are crazy or one of the drama hounds, I'm probably going to remove you unless we are really tight.

As I said, it isn't personal so much as I am tired of all the cattiness in here and am going to restrict my GOLO profile and feel this is a good way to do it.

 Best regards,

It was a bad "Lid" Switch. You know, the button that lets it know the top is closed. I had to remove the "ENTIRE" shroud from off the drum assembly to get it out and it had all these little tabs and clips that you have to get re-aligned during the re-assembly...which is a pain in the azz in a little laundry room. If I ever have to do it again, I'll move the entire machine into the middle of the kitchen or tote it out to the garage and then do work on it. LOL

You still want me to take a look at your vacuum?

Where abouts are you in Raleigh?

and did you know Stud? Are you by chance planning on going to his funeral on Wed?...if so, Maybe we could meet then.

As a 20 year veteran pilot, one thing cars have in common with planes is the colors on the instrument panel.....

Green is good.... Yellow is no so good..... Red is BAD BAD BAD BAD......

This is why the "Check engine" light is yellow....to warn you that something may be going wrong....versus the oil light which illuminates RED to keep you from blowing your engine....

Some folks see that "yellow" light as a pesky nuisance until it leaves them stranded on the highway....others panic at the very sight...more likely because they know it will cost some money.

NEVER ignore the red, pay attention to the yellow and be happy when all is green.....

Hi Crocus ~ I hope you have a blessed Easter.

lol, as a natural born redhead, I have been ridiculed all my life for my redhair. I was just fooling around, trying to find another redheaded avatar, and came across some great articles. I'm busy consolidating them into a blog. I probably won't get it posted today,,maybe tonight. I have to consolidate info from a number of different articles but it has come GREAT quotes and some wonderful information,,some of which is pretty sarcastic. I think it'll be hilarious

Attacked by geese? We had a pair who took on the mailman's truck when they accidentally got loose. They just bounced off his tires and went back for more!! LOL!

After reading some of your posts, I'm beginning to think we have the same mother! :-)

Hiya! The beer I was talking about is Shock Top. It tastes a lot like Blue Moon. They are both yummy.

Girl, you realize it's way too early to be thinking of spirits (especially since I enjoyed too many this weekend. UGH) We'll have to pick up this conversation on say, ....Friday? LOL

Hope you had a good one!

Hugs, Gucci

thank you! I just went to respond to the ad and I tried about 8 catchas and couldn't send the email. It wouldn't let me! If you want to try it and be me, my email is shoultesy@gmail.com. SOOOO weird. I know that I was typing in the code right. Sounds like an ideal kitten!

lousy weekend, woke up late, pizzed off Wilson, got partially to work and thought I left my badge at home, turned around and then realised it was around my neck, turned around again, auntie started, feel like death warmed over, spilled coffee inside the car, whole fre aking thing smells like soured Latte..

all before 645 am

(sigh)

Hi Crocus!!! *HUGS* How was your Easter??? We had a nice time...Thank You for asking!!! I did have one little problem BUT learned what I did wrong...tried to make a Vegan Coconut Creme Pie...Soy Milk does not make instant pudding set...you have to use the cooking pudding with Soy Milk. I did not know...live and learn Right??? BUT tasted good...a bit sweet.

Stephanie is doing well Thank You for asking...she has a Surgeon appointment tomorrow. And she wants to go to Karate tomorrow evening. Still can not be alone because she can't get a lot of things for herself yet...and I like to make sure she does not get in bathroom nor shower without someone here just in case. BUT zipping right around on crutches...she has been on them over a month now.

"So yes, I guess my cat does get on my counters when I'm not looking."

LOL... I'm tellin' ya, cats are boogers. LOL. Thanks for the follow up with the funny story. I could just imagine how it happened. Xanax. LOL. Cheers.

Thank you again for the email. {{hugs}}

Good morning, Crocus, thanks for the message! Hope you're having a great week. I loved your vegetarian resource blog. One more good web site is Veganessentials.com.

Honestly Crocus, I have never seen that show!! I actually dont have HBO.I will have to check it out sometime. Thanks.lol

I thought he was getting better, but when I got home from work, his fever was back up...we're watching him closely and may be going back to the hospital, he's not drinking as much as usual.

That is so cool. Thanks so much..Im going to watch that very soon...Im supposed to be writing a paper right now, so Im off to do what I need to do. lol. Thanks again!

Hope you enjoyed Caprica. I pre-ordered the DVD and will get it next week.

I am also excited about "The Plan" this fall.

In the meantime, 12 weeks of Sookie Stackhouse on True Blood will help pass the time!

seriously? Send me a PM my handle at gmail. We absolutely are looking for another to round out the group (one guy just had his second kid-- he's web conferencing in the next two weeks, we just lost a guy to a move to G'boro and we have a guy who flakes about 50% of the time.. the other three of us are pretty dedicated (my wow account hasn't been fired up in 3 months)

I have 4 hours left at this gods-forsaken dungeon without air, windows and humaoid life forms, and then I pull the escape hatch for another week, and wing it into oblivion...

I am bored. I am the only one here. The rest went to lunch. I may leave early. I need coffee but the walk to the starbucks cafe out here is too dang far and I am a lazy cow.

Can't go - will be working to catch up. :[

But it pays the bills.

God bless.

RB

Thank you for the birthday wishes!

Sounds fantastic ! i stay on golo so much of the time , that i'm not getting my cleaning done ; so i won't allow myself to crochet. roommate even mentioned that i need to break away & get my life moving. (mostly just read the blogs & play solitaire) but, now that's the weather's better - i honestly need to be walking. Got a family reunion coming up the end of May & just want to feel better. I congratulate you -- sounds like it turned out really well! would luv to meet you for lunch sometime and compare crocheting :> Hope you're enjoying this beautiful day !!

Just wanted to say Goodmorning Crocus!! I love your nature stories..Im glad that I met you.. Have a good day..Bye for now.

Lol , hey im an ex hairdresser and doing your own highlights is not the best idea. Is impossible to do it right. Do you find it hard to sit at the salon for a long time, or do you enjoy it? I get impatient. lol. Anyway, hope you come out as lovely as you are. Enjoy.

Im so glad you still have your hair Crocus!! And Im happy for you that it looks good. I actually went to the mall today. There are lots of BIG sales and it was crowded. hmmm, makes me wonder. But things were at least 40 percent off, plus a extra 20 percent off coupon on some items in Macys. I had to buy a baby present, awww babies are so cute. lol. Anyway,I have to clean up too, my least favorite thing to do. lol. Have a good night.

Saw the pic of that kitchen.

My migraines start a lot like that. ;o)

God bless.

RB

No maam I didn't.... they have one but it's very blurry. ;)

Those patterns are so cute, especially the blue bunny.

And the little alien is cute too, but not sure if it would be good for a wee one. Who knows.

God bless.

RB

I can knit and crochet, but I can't follow a pattern to safe my life - I have to make up my own. Crochetting is much easier in my opinion.

Lucky niece. ;o)

God bless.

RB

I thought it was cute -- Tigger looked like : ok , where are they ? Tried to pick him up to sit him in front of the computer & he just ran away. "i don't see them , so i'm out of here ! " lol thanks

I couldn't believe you were the first person to "second" Harold and Maude. Like you I never really thought much about Cat Stevens until that movie. The song "If you want to sing out, sing out" makes me emotional now too.

I just read the dogs/flasher post! LOL! That would have made a great video clip. :-)

If someone asked me what song I remember from Top Gun, it was Take My Breath Away by Berlin. :)/endquote

ME TOO! Terri Nunn ftw!

"Have you been watching Dollhouse at all? I loved Firefly so I was pretty excited to find out that Josh had a new show, even if it was on Fox. I suspect that Dollhouse won't make it past its first season."

I don't think it will either. I've heard the ratings have been pretty bad. I was also very excited about it. Honestly, I'm kind of been dissapointed. It has great potential, I like the idea of it, it just hasn't impressed me all that much. There have been maybe 3 episodes so far that I really liked, the rest were just so-so. Not to say it's a bad show, I'd still watch it over 90% of the other stuff out there-and it doesn't hurt that Eliza Dushku is hot :).

"It was funny to me that the most traumatised was a guy that ran into him while he was booking it to his car. :D"

LOL! That actually could be an episode on Reno 911 or something else!

A retired teacher, you say? Not much can traumatize them --they've seen it all. :-)

" Sisters of Mercy? "

WHOOAAAH

I noticed this on my alter egos profile (I have to stay informed as to what I am doing - it's Jeckyll & Hyde sorta thing)- I thought I was the only person in NC who even heard of this band let alone listened to them.

Their later stuff strayed away from their original sound but I like everything they did up to Floodland - Vision Thing was little wobbly IMHO....kinda lost track after that.

I really like the sound of Eldrtich's voice and I only like to listen to his music after dark - It's what I call 'atmosphere music'.

I now return you to your regularly scheduled life.

You BETTER make me one of Jayne's hats. That thing is KILLER. Only he could pull it off.

Wash was my fave.

I love Floodland. It is still one of my favorite cds. I remember that I bought the first copy of it the same time as I bought Fascination Street by the Cure.

HA - youngun.....I had Floodland on VINYL and Fascination Street on cassette.

" Does that mean that I lose my youngun status? "

Your good taste is apparently not age related - however -

I snooped around with that URL address - saw a woman youngER than me.....had a crocus on her head...

" That being said, I have a LOT of vinyl still. "

All mine are memories now - moved too many times.

Had some RARE Smiths imports too(even had Brit price tags on them).

My dad has a rather awesome direct drive linear tracking B&O turntable. Sits up right and plays records vertically.

Now I just make efforts to ensure that my kid knows what good music really is (and it ain't on the radio sadly...).

I'll quit gumming up your profile now...

Mal...............(purring noises)

LOL! I will have to do that! It's funny because, as much as I loved the smell, my boss hated it and she did not mince words, either! ROF!!!!!!!!!!!

I would never wear it now, but I'd like to see if it still smells like it did, back then.

Beth

"You might not have to listen to Hannah Montana played at top volume. ;)"

THANKFULLY, she likes a lot of my old 80's stuff - Smiths B 52's (although that kinda late 70's too), Depeche Mode, early REM - her favorite band EVAR is Within Temptation.

She's a big bluegrass fan like her ol' dad, too.

We listen to a little of everything that would qualify as MUSIC - she plays the flute with her school band so we do the classical stuff too.

I haven't done the industrial thing for a while - Skinny Puppy and Minsitry (Revolting C ocks (stupid filter)) - I always preferred guitar driven stuff over all.

Back in the REM days I liked a band out of Raleigh called The Connells - used to follow the Sex Police out of Chapel Hill -cool funk sound with horns(lead singer went on to Squirrel Nut Zippers)- Dillon Fence out of Dillon SC - Big Dipper from Boston MA - Fetchin Bones from Charlotte - the local triangle music scene used to be fantastic..

I could go on and on and on and.......

Morning -- actually , the craft time is the last Sat (which would be today) - but, i'm suppose to go down to Raeford for my grandson's birthday . Was also going to try to get by the SpringDaze festival before leaving. But,our craft get-together is also the 2nd Fri of each month. Your projects sound beautiful - I've done a rose afghan before -- i bet the daisy would really be pretty.

oh NO --- today is SpringDaze at Bond Park . Lazy Daze is in Aug. sorry -- but, at Bond Park - it is so spread out that you'll walk yourself to 'death' just finding all the booths & etc. Lazy Daze is still downtown Cary the 3rd weekend in Aug.

also , our craft group meets from 10am till 2pm the 2nd Fri and the last Sat of the month. Just realized , too -- I might be in Ky that last Sat of May. My family has a reunion on Memorial weekend , but may have to help my sister get my parents' house ready to sell ; as the other sister wants her to sell it to get her share from it. Hopefully , will have some chance to meet you soon. plus, i'd really like to meet Dexter some day. sounds like such a sweet cat.

ok, yes -- they can become sweet. I adopted Tigger when he was 12 wks old. and, he's slept w/ me ever since. But, when he would wake me at 2 or 3 am , it was usually that I had forgotten to put food out around midnight. (my bedtime) then , he normally doesn't bother me till the next morning. But, when I'm on my left side , he will snuggle so close to me. for some reason , when I'm on my right side ,he'll only lay at my feet. in fact , must feed him now , as he's walking all over my feet and pawing at me. lol :>

Hi Crocus ~ You have beeen in my thoughts; I hope you are well. Have a beautiful Sunday!
