about tidbit

The image above? I've entitled: A Politician's Promises

HOCKEY PLAY OFFS! AND THE CANES ARE THERE!  WOOOOOOOOO WOOO WOOOOOOOOOOO

"Some people are like slinkies - not really good for anything, but still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs" - unknown

"Only I can change my life. No one can do it for me." ~Carol Burnett

It is not the business of government to make men virtuous or religious, or to preserve the fool from the consequences of his own folly. Government should be repressive no further than is necessary to secure liberty by protecting the equal rights of each from aggression on the part of others, and the moment governmental prohibitions extend beyond this line they are in danger of defeating the very ends they are intended to serve. – Henry George

The aim of public education is not to spread enlightenment at all, it is simply to reduce as many individuals as possible to the same safe level, to breed and train a standardized citizenry, to put down dissent and originality. – H L. Mencken

Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery. - Winston Churchill

Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm. - Winston Churchill

If you’re young and not a liberal, you haven’t got a heart. But if you’re old and not conservative, you haven’t got a brain! - allegedly Winton Churchill (though has been challenged Churchill actually said this)

Where is a UFO when you need one.....

Tidbit is actually a real nickname I earned because I have a plethera of worthless knowledge that means exactly squat. One of my co workers gave it to me when she would randomly walk by my desk and ask me silly questions to see if I had the answer and / or knew where she could find it. I also collect strange books of useless facts like "Do Fish Drink Water".

I'm very passionate about my political beliefs, but I always try to be open about other people's views. If I'm not, I'll never learn or grow or improve my own argument (evil grin).

I am a woman.. I get testy.. get over it. Sometimes I actually do bite... my bark sucks so I have to do something to make up for it.

I'm always looking for a challenge, but considering I've been wealthy (or my family was) and came from a place where most people knew my family's last name, became homeless because of my own stupidity, and had a HOST of experiences from that and then worked my own way out of my situation, I've gained an interesting perspective. It's not better or more important than anyone else's, but it is unique.

Respect my opinions and beliefs and I'll respect yours. Remember, until you've walked in the road of the situation you are discussing, do you really have an honest and true perspective? Do you really have all sides or input?

And I do respect everyone's opinion whether I agree with it or not.  The only pet peeve I have is when people won't actually THINK about things.

For example - if you are for Universal Health Care I'd like you to answer these following questions:

  • What will be the actual changes wanted to be made?
  • What will be the necessary requirements to get these changes in place
  • Who will be impacted by the requirements (what groups- persons)
  • What are the potential long term impacts on those specific groups
  • What are the expected benefits?
  • How can the benefits be achieved
  • What are the potential pit falls
  • Do the pitfalls balance the benefits
  • Is the program(s) sustainable longterm

Once you answer these questions, sit back and THEN decide if you think "Universal Government Controlled" health care is the right answer for this country.  When I do this, nothing Clinton or Obama have put forth seem to actually benefit anyone except government

If you just answer the positives and ignore the negatives - you are only thinking emotionally and selfishly. It's it not just about YOU. The entire country is affected by your actions.

Well I am glad you're a logical thinker. I am confused about what you said about your ballot becoming invalid if you write in. In past years, there has always been an available arrow to fill in where the voter can "write in" someone's name. I wasn't aware of the invalid cause if that is the case. Wow. Thanks for some enlightenment.

Well that seems very-undemocratic. I didn't realize that- thanks for pointing that out.

I was going to vote for Liddy anyway. Just thought it was a pretty effective ad for what they were trying to accomplish. Few people would make the effort that you have in getting to the facts. I just wish the Dole Campaign would put out an ad as prominent to rebut this one. Thanks

Hey! So yeah i've been on golo the past two days bc im just that bored with how easy things have been in school...thanks for stopping by and saying hi....school started again yesterday. kind of sucks bc i just finished summer school last wedensday so im not thrilled. Had a week off so i guess its not too bad. Anyhow...so i see you're pretty strong against the socialized health care that seems to be looming closer and closer to becoming reality...i used to be too...actually i still am very very skeptical but im starting to think that maybe it could be a very good cultural change...we'll have to discuss since right now im sitting on the fence on this issue. :-)

How are ya? :D

"Tidbit is actually a real nickname I earned because I have a plethera of worthless knowledge that means exactly squat"

Reminds me of a recurring character in Martha Grimes' "Richard Jury" series. Everyone thought the woman was brilliant, until they got to know her. Funny stuff.

I'm just stopping by to say hello, hope you're having a nice day, gaze into your eyes for a second, and offer a hug if you'd like one. I could have sworn there was a photo of you in a gallery, but no? Hmmmm...... am I losing it?

Take Care, Jennifer.

I've been working pretty hard, and I'm always tired. Other than that, all is well.

What kind of outside project?

I've done a little landscaping in my time. Lawn maint. also. A yard like yours is very labor intensive. I'd shoot the price so high on an estimate for a slope like that, if the homeowner bit, it was worth it to me, but not many bit. The terrace idea sounds wonderful. Heck of a lot of work to install, and not a little money for materials, but I think you'd be pleased and it shouldn't be so hard to maintain in years to come. Might be a good investment, too, should you ever decide to sell.

Have a great evening.....

oh nooo......... not a hockey fan!!! Hee Hee.

Tidbit:

Thanks for the update...I generally stay in the loop but this one passed me by. Have a afe and wonderful weekend.

Just dropping in to say HI! ((HUGS))

I agree. Sometimes I'll defend those on the left even if they go a little too far. But that carp is just wrong and I'm ashamed that they could be associated with my political beliefs.

Not really offended Tidbit, just burned out on all the bashing -- from both sides. It just gets us no-where! Really...

My apologies for the delayed response. But, it's that time of year when I get 'quiet' as some important spiritual times approach.

My comment was directed at the lefties on GOLO. Of course the media are going to mention this stuff. I just rarely see the lefties seize upon the tabloid-ready stuff the way the righties do.

Anyway, y'all politic right along. I'm going to be dropping in with a post on occassion, probably in a humor vein and non-political. The rest of my time will be filling up with real life, meditation, reading, praying, reflective writing and occassionally locking myself in my room for a one-man jam session with my guitars. :-)

"...and enough people to back it as a majority."

Ahhh, but there's the rub. If there was a way to get enough people to agree on any one thing at all, there wouldn't be religious wars.

God bless.

Rev. RB

I should just go hide my head in the sand...

Now THAT was too funny! Hope you have a great day.

Hey...... you've been pretty active on the golo boards recently. This election drama has you energized, apparently.

Made any progress on the landscaping plans?

And by the way, have a great day and HUGS to you.

Tidbit, why did you delete my comment with no response? I was hoping we could clear the air.

Tidbit, I had just copied and pasted what I said on that blog. I thought I had done it here, but I probably just messed it up somehow.

Anyway--if we're cool, that's cool. I just wanted to make sure. :-)

Hope you are having a great Tuesday!!!

Me thinks, tidbit, unless I have misunderstood, that 1 being moonbat lib, and 10 being ultra conservative....... you are a 3, and I am a 7.

Does this mean you won't talk to me anymore? : )

Just guessing...... I'll take a 4.

: )

Good Morning to you, Sweet Woman.

It's nice to see you again.

I applaud your efforts in lovestry blog. I think you stood your ground and made very valid point! Have a blessed day.

HI JENN JENN!

I'm crazy too! HOOOORAY!

Is it hockey season yet? :)~

That it is, I thought about you when I drove by the RBC Center last week and they had that on the Marquis. I think it's going to be a better year this year, buckle up baby! :)

stopping by to say hello! ((HUGS!))

I keep wanting to change my image, but man... I just can't find anything funnier! :) HOPE YOU'RE DOING WELL! HUGS!

Mind if I ask why you removed my comment from your blog?

I don't know why but I guess someone must have reported it for abuse. I just commented on the quote in the article about us losing a war.

hello Hello HELLOOOO

hello..............

still won't cut the bunny a break hmmm???

Hope you are doing wonderfully!

so true about liberals and evelution

Thank you Tidbit for your comments regarding education on bronzegoddess' blog. I dealt with issues such as yours and my daughter ran into the same type situations as well. She quit college saying that she wasn't gonna pay for that chit! LOL She only went to prove to me that I had educated her well. We homeschooled. She made A's and B's!! My husband dropped out of highschool as well. He has ran our company and soley supported our family for the last 12 years. I have a BA and chose to be a stay at home wife, mom, teacher, etc. LOL We have and are living the life most swear that one can't do! Have a good evening.

Boy do we have alot in common. While looking at your profile I thought for a second it was mine. Anyway just wanted to say hi. Have a great day!

From another blog to Tidbit- Tidbit, this is where we all as a nation must get beyond. I don't care what color house you live in, I am more concerned about who lives in the house. Your body and it's color is your house. Enough fingers have been pointed at each of us. It is much like the analogy of the circular firing squad the Republicans had that we read read about in the lasts days of the campaign. We as Americans are so busy shooting each other for real or perceived faults we can't get about the business of rebuilding this nation. We must learn to love ourselves and believe in ourselves despite our many differences. I could go one but I must break away. Hope to return later. Post a message to my profile if necessary. America FIRST!

"That video was hilarious! I needed that - perfect start to my morning."

Glad I could help :) Have a great weekend

wanted to drop by and say hi! **HUGS**

“My honest opinion? In cases like the military? No - I think they should all be together learning to work together.” - Tidbit

That’s the way it was in the movie “Starship Troopers”. The soldiers fought together, lived together, and showered together. Of course us guys were disappointed that Denise Richards didn’t have a part in the shower scene. :)

Maybe that’s the solution. First get the men and women together, then introduce the gays.

What a great story about your daughter and the girl who received the clothes. Wonderful lesson! I think I've found my way to handle it. Thanks! -Angela

"Once we start compromising our beliefs... what do we have left?"

A liberal?

(didn't want to clog the blog - just could not let it pass)

LOLzers...

Wishing you all a wonderful Thanksgiving and weekend. Hope it's full of good food and good fun :-)

Tidbit - "Hey Rev - isn't the whole homosexuality an abomination in the Old Testament? Because if that is the case, isn't death for adulterers? Sacrifices? Etc? Why do people feel it is ok to pick and choose what is appropriate from the Bible whever they want to believe in. I admit I'm not profficient with the Bible as I ought to be... but I don't pick and choose either."

NOR DID I!!!

I responded to this whole thing earlier in the blog. Did you read all the responses?

A study of the word abomination as it goes through The Bible shows that it does not only appear in scriptures covering homosexuality, but in other scriptures dealing with other sins, like lying and cheating and stealing.

We allow liars to adopt, and cheaters, and perhaps even thieves. There are no little sins or big sins according to The Bible. ALL SIN IS AN ABOMINATION TO HIM.

So I'm not picking and choosing. Others are by intimating that homosexuality is a greater sin than lying.

God bless.

Rev. RB

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to you too! **HUGS**

Hey, I just found your recipe from back in the summer - ginger's fish casserole... looks good! DH loves fish, any kind & any way. I can't do much with "fishy" tasting fish, but I think this recipe might be one we can use to work more fish into our diet. Thanks!

Terri

Good morning!
