about tidbit

The image above? I've entitled: A Politician's Promises

HOCKEY PLAY OFFS! AND THE CANES ARE THERE!  WOOOOOOOOO WOOO WOOOOOOOOOOO

"Some people are like slinkies - not really good for anything, but still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs" - unknown

"Only I can change my life. No one can do it for me." ~Carol Burnett

It is not the business of government to make men virtuous or religious, or to preserve the fool from the consequences of his own folly. Government should be repressive no further than is necessary to secure liberty by protecting the equal rights of each from aggression on the part of others, and the moment governmental prohibitions extend beyond this line they are in danger of defeating the very ends they are intended to serve. – Henry George

The aim of public education is not to spread enlightenment at all, it is simply to reduce as many individuals as possible to the same safe level, to breed and train a standardized citizenry, to put down dissent and originality. – H L. Mencken

Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery. - Winston Churchill

Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm. - Winston Churchill

If you’re young and not a liberal, you haven’t got a heart. But if you’re old and not conservative, you haven’t got a brain! - allegedly Winton Churchill (though has been challenged Churchill actually said this)

Where is a UFO when you need one.....

Tidbit is actually a real nickname I earned because I have a plethera of worthless knowledge that means exactly squat. One of my co workers gave it to me when she would randomly walk by my desk and ask me silly questions to see if I had the answer and / or knew where she could find it. I also collect strange books of useless facts like "Do Fish Drink Water".

I'm very passionate about my political beliefs, but I always try to be open about other people's views. If I'm not, I'll never learn or grow or improve my own argument (evil grin).

I am a woman.. I get testy.. get over it. Sometimes I actually do bite... my bark sucks so I have to do something to make up for it.

I'm always looking for a challenge, but considering I've been wealthy (or my family was) and came from a place where most people knew my family's last name, became homeless because of my own stupidity, and had a HOST of experiences from that and then worked my own way out of my situation, I've gained an interesting perspective. It's not better or more important than anyone else's, but it is unique.

Respect my opinions and beliefs and I'll respect yours. Remember, until you've walked in the road of the situation you are discussing, do you really have an honest and true perspective? Do you really have all sides or input?

And I do respect everyone's opinion whether I agree with it or not.  The only pet peeve I have is when people won't actually THINK about things.

For example - if you are for Universal Health Care I'd like you to answer these following questions:

  • What will be the actual changes wanted to be made?
  • What will be the necessary requirements to get these changes in place
  • Who will be impacted by the requirements (what groups- persons)
  • What are the potential long term impacts on those specific groups
  • What are the expected benefits?
  • How can the benefits be achieved
  • What are the potential pit falls
  • Do the pitfalls balance the benefits
  • Is the program(s) sustainable longterm

Once you answer these questions, sit back and THEN decide if you think "Universal Government Controlled" health care is the right answer for this country.  When I do this, nothing Clinton or Obama have put forth seem to actually benefit anyone except government

If you just answer the positives and ignore the negatives - you are only thinking emotionally and selfishly. It's it not just about YOU. The entire country is affected by your actions.

Can you actually read? Seriously? DId I ever say I worked with immigration? What I said was I VOLUNTEER with a group to help people who want to immigrate to the US. That is all I said.

In fact I just helped a gentleman from Sweden gain legal status here. Took 9 1/2 years in total for him to get through. I have another young man from Botswana and a young lady from Tanzania.

YOu keep talking smack and making your stupid assumptions. Just because you FEEL jerked around and frustrated doesn't mean that the government lies or that there is no "LEAGAL" way to come here. Because frankly you LIE To people everytime you say that. People become legal here every day. You are just too blind to the truth. You refuse to see the truth because it is not to your liking. GET OVER YOURSELF and grow up already

The rally was good - I'll post a blog when I get back from the beach - interesting stuff going on in SC that will have an impact on NC

If you are against Iraq - you couldn't possibly be for going in and helping these people.

True statement of the Day!

y^2 - 4 = 0 can be both + or - 2.....pretty simple and basic huh?? GAHHH then why do i f ********#*# not realize that when im taking an exam! grr i hate making kindergarten mistakes on college level exams! pfft...but anyhow on a much lighter note! your email will be there to you tomorrow in the early afternoon! goodnight!

"wizard - I'm just curious - not challenging or anything, what do you do when you are at a resturaunt and your waitstaff is clearly gay? do you leave? (i'm really just curious) or shopping in a store?

The few places I do go to, for anything, I pretty much know what kind of staff they have. Ir there are gays there, I simply don't do any business there. 9 out of 10 times, I can spot one a mile away. I've had a lot of experience in spotting gays back in my trucking days. To me, it is sick, perverted, & all out wrong for 2 members of the same sex to be carrying on in such a manner. That is a twisted lifestyle that I don't want anything to do with, whether it be for business or otherwise. I guess it is a character flaw for me.

But to answer your question, yes, I would get up & leave.

Hiya!! :-)

check out Women Speak Group :)

Fantastic find with the condom add - thanks!

its okay were all busy hun

Thanks so much, Tidbit. I would appreciate you sending ANY recipes my way!

Tidbit, Thanks for your comment. I added you on as a friend. I love what you said about Target. I used to work for them for six months and everyday it made me sick! You're right,if they thought Wal-Mart was worst, try working for Target cause I oughta know. I hated it with the passion!!!! WORST employees,WORST employers,WORST benefits, and WORST conditions(ridicious when it came to getting your breaks and lunches),not to mention dealing with some of the WORST customers that come in there.... especially the ones that rack up $100 to 300 orders and don't even have the money to flip the bill. The Target off Renaissance Parkway at Southpoint in Durham was the worst ever!!!

FYI: If you see managers Wayne, Richard,or Cameron avoid them like the plague!!!

I will continue to say a prayer for you. I know you will come to a decision, with God's help, in what it is that you need to do. God Bless!

I can't say the traffic in Houston ever bothered me. I mean that seriously. I loved everything about it except my apartment.

Hey, thanks for joining the Starbucks group! Have a nice afternoon! :)

seriously tidbit, give the dayum bunny the carrot before he goes all wacky Roger Rabbit on yo azz...

(have a wonderful night)

Absolutely, we need volunteers.

Thanks for the IMDB list I had no idea there were so many movies out there...wish I could afford to see them all.

Hey Jennifer. You can reach Camille Koonce at 919-596-9898 to get info on volunteering. Tell her you and I were talking on GOLO … We all have our reasons for working in this field, and you sound like you have a similar compassion and empathy to mine. For me, I believe that no matter who you are, or what choices you've made, or where you are on the road, everyone deserves to have someone stand beside--or for--them. Every life is valuable, and every life has value. I hope you'll get in touch.

Saw Wanted and absolutely loved it...I love Jolie anyway but in this she was great...I want now to see it again...it had so much in it I will have to see it several times to get it all. It was just plain good imaginative fun. I am off to see Kung Fu Panda next..cant wait...oh and I went and bought a TV today on the way home so I can rent some movies from somewhere to watch a few more...I have never wanted a TV before but a friend was selling hers cheap...something about not picking up the signal next year cosit is too old...but I only wanted it because it has a DVD player in it...I dont need to pick up TV stations. who would have thought winning 2 tickets would lead to such adventure. I will tell you about Pandas when I have seen it...but I really loved Wanted.

"(Yes Mayhaw - it's a swamp fruit and no you can't get it in NC)"

Now you've got me curious.... lol......

i would be glad to explain why it is such a problem if you could, in your wisdom, explain why the economy is bad and the US dollar is loosing its value

you really think a weak economy has NOTHING to do with unemployment?

please.. i know my history.. i teach history and economics and i know the cost of war. I also know that this war can be ended and we can change our focus to the homefront. I understand your point on unemployment... you've told me 3 times now! What you are not getting is there are things our government can do to help a failing economy and it is not being done!

tidbit, i read your comment on slickrickchic's page regarding unemployment. it is not flat, and it has not been flat for quite sometime. in fact, it has been rising, steadily. the primary increases have been in the manufacturing, construction, and agriculture sectors, not the professional sector. furthermore, most economists agree that the optimal unemployment rate is around 3.0 - 3.5%, not 5.5% and climbing.

but really, there are other indicators of the economy. for instance, cpi and ppi have both been increasing quite steadily for sometime, gdp isn't doing is good as it has been previously, and the stock market, well, that speaks for itself, but is not directly tied to the economy today, but expectations about the future.

Well this conversation has been nice, but I do have other things to do. I just hope that you are as valuable to your employer as you think you are. I would hate to see you become a statistic.

And since you didn’t research it, the year Clinton left office unemployment was at 3.9 %. This month, unemployment rate is at 5.5%. Hmmmm.. that’s a big difference!

It's Teriffic Tuesday! I hope you have a teriffic one.

sometimes i just come here and watch the poor rabbit...i often pull for the rabbit.

Good morning Hope you have a great thursday, just one more day to the weekend! Yeaaaaaaa lol

heehee how ya doing sis?

I was thinking maybe you were trying to land a job and Wendy's new spokes person!

at not and!

Very, very "me" blog....... I could say a lot but will just stop with what I told you a good while ago....... I'm proud to know you.

Oh Jennifer, you should do fine. I know lots of people who had the gall bladder out. The bile will leave a funny taste in your mouth for a while. the good news is that they all lost weight, between 24 and 80 pounds!!

reading....... I like the H.E.B. Griffin series about troops in WWII - I find them very interesting, very well researched, and believeable. A title that comes to mind is Brotherhood of War.

yeah...... that's what I meant...... I used to live in Texas and they have H.E.B. supermarkets all the place...... I make that mistake often. I was trying to find one of his books on ebay once and couldn't..... I was using heb. Brotherhood of war....... it's good, one of his best. I like The Soldier Spies too, about the begining of the OSS.

If I brought to you any smile at all, then it's been a good day for me. I'm sorry you had a tough one.

http://www.belecherefestival.com/

YES!!!

"this one H.E.B half way across town. It's hillarious. He comes in and they are all.. "Hey Tommy! How are ya? Usual?" and they spend the next 30 minutes chatting up the storm like old ladies gossiping. I love to watch it"

Yeah... I think I would too. I haven't been back to Austin since my MIL died.... probably 9 years ago.

Hey Girly :) I am STILL laughing over ur blog earlier!

Classic!

Have a great night!

Yep! I sure did miss your "real me"' blog. It is now in the main gallery. I'm glad you told me. -Angela

I have one of the rarer blood types. AB-

I have RH-

some people just can't HANDLE the truth...if you've got more to say, just let me know; I'll pass it on til he blocks me!

I was just a little girl when Alicia hit Houston, so I dont remember anything about it. But my mother remembers it like it was yesterday. We had just moved to Houston from Michigan and my mom and dad had to go downtown and didnt realize what a hurricane could do. My mother said she sat in the car and watched the windows blow out of all of the skyscrapers when the wind came roaring through. To this day she says that is the most scared she has ever been.

I enjoy reading your profile. It is very intelligent, so I guess you are! mornin', jack

Community College System President Scott Ralls is who we need to flood with laetters and phone calls BEFORE they make their decision on illegals. I'll try to find contact info and post it as a blog.

Hi tidbit,

Essentially I agree with you, my point was not against immigration reform or enforcement as it was against the blind bigotry that I see in so many postings I see here in GOLO whenever a story appears regarding an illegal immigrant.

Hey! Glad your medical issues will soon be behind you. I sure do wish you would let that bunny get that carrot for once.

I loved your posts on george's dems blog. I posted something he didn't like so he deleted it and blocked me - that loser -LOL! GREAT job Tidbit too bad some people just refuse to see the truth.
