The image above? I've entitled: A Politician's Promises
HOCKEY PLAY OFFS! AND THE CANES ARE THERE! WOOOOOOOOO WOOO WOOOOOOOOOOO
"Some people are like slinkies - not really good for anything, but still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs" - unknown
"Only I can change my life. No one can do it for me." ~Carol Burnett
It is not the business of government to make men virtuous or religious, or to preserve the fool from the consequences of his own folly. Government should be repressive no further than is necessary to secure liberty by protecting the equal rights of each from aggression on the part of others, and the moment governmental prohibitions extend beyond this line they are in danger of defeating the very ends they are intended to serve. – Henry George
The aim of public education is not to spread enlightenment at all, it is simply to reduce as many individuals as possible to the same safe level, to breed and train a standardized citizenry, to put down dissent and originality. – H L. Mencken
Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery. - Winston Churchill
Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm. - Winston Churchill
If you’re young and not a liberal, you haven’t got a heart. But if you’re old and not conservative, you haven’t got a brain! - allegedly Winton Churchill (though has been challenged Churchill actually said this)
Where is a UFO when you need one.....
Tidbit is actually a real nickname I earned because I have a plethera of worthless knowledge that means exactly squat. One of my co workers gave it to me when she would randomly walk by my desk and ask me silly questions to see if I had the answer and / or knew where she could find it. I also collect strange books of useless facts like "Do Fish Drink Water".
I'm very passionate about my political beliefs, but I always try to be open about other people's views. If I'm not, I'll never learn or grow or improve my own argument (evil grin).
I am a woman.. I get testy.. get over it. Sometimes I actually do bite... my bark sucks so I have to do something to make up for it.
I'm always looking for a challenge, but considering I've been wealthy (or my family was) and came from a place where most people knew my family's last name, became homeless because of my own stupidity, and had a HOST of experiences from that and then worked my own way out of my situation, I've gained an interesting perspective. It's not better or more important than anyone else's, but it is unique.
Respect my opinions and beliefs and I'll respect yours. Remember, until you've walked in the road of the situation you are discussing, do you really have an honest and true perspective? Do you really have all sides or input?
And I do respect everyone's opinion whether I agree with it or not. The only pet peeve I have is when people won't actually THINK about things.
For example - if you are for Universal Health Care I'd like you to answer these following questions:
- What will be the actual changes wanted to be made?
- What will be the necessary requirements to get these changes in place
- Who will be impacted by the requirements (what groups- persons)
- What are the potential long term impacts on those specific groups
- What are the expected benefits?
- How can the benefits be achieved
- What are the potential pit falls
- Do the pitfalls balance the benefits
- Is the program(s) sustainable longterm
Once you answer these questions, sit back and THEN decide if you think "Universal Government Controlled" health care is the right answer for this country. When I do this, nothing Clinton or Obama have put forth seem to actually benefit anyone except government
If you just answer the positives and ignore the negatives - you are only thinking emotionally and selfishly. It's it not just about YOU. The entire country is affected by your actions.

The point you keep missing is FREE. There is NOTHING free about it. Canada Health care is not FREE. Their welfare is not FREE> The tax payers pay for it. Just because they don't pay directly for the health insurance doesn't mean they don't pay.
And even so... your argument is that Canada's health care is better? So that is why so many Canadians are denied service, denied surgeries and told they have to go on waiting lists Because only so many surgeries can be performed a year? I tell you what... you go ahead and move up there .... take your family. If you get sick... enjoy that "FREE" health care ... then come back and tell us how fast you were seen, how the care was from the doctor.
What you say is FREE - while tax payers are actually paying for it.. They clearly are getting what they pay for NOTHING

Now, I have not been to Canada and I said that I am sure Moore used the best case senarios, but in the movie he interviews MULTIPLE families and they all said the exact same thing and their treatment was FAST and at no IMMEDIATE cost.
For me the issue is insurance payments...because other than an ear infection once a year, my daughters never go to the doctors and my wife and I only go once a year for our normal check up stuff.

Pros...I saved a lot of money...about $10,000 in one year. ($850 a month, BCBS)
cons...I worried all year....what if something terrible happens and my wife or I or children get cancer or something like that. that could cost tens of thousands.
Luckly, my daughters went to the doctors only a total of 5 times between the two of them for the whole year at a cost of about $625.
The following year I signed back up with BCBS through my company because of the "what if" factor.
I pay $10,200 a year for "what if" i get some horrible disease.

I know, I hear you. But consider the two side by side for a minute.
The US tax bracket for me is $77,100 to $160,850 ($15,698.75 plus 28% of the amount over 77,100)
Canada's tax bracket for me would be 26% on taxable income between $75,769 and $123,184
So there for if I am paying LESS taxes than I am currently paying in the US and my healthcare is paid for by the Government then theoretically it is FREE.
If the US said tomorrow that everyone's tax rate would remain the same (not go down, just remain the same) and healthcare would be paid for by the Government, then everyone would think that healthcare is FREE.
get it? let's stop beating this dead horse.

sure, when it's all said and done it makes about $175 difference in my check per week. which is $750 a month(not $850). but that's with high deductibles and $25 co-pays.
My company does pitch in and offer some relief on the deductibles on major surgery, but so far (thank God) we haven't needed it.
It's just frustrating to pay for something you never use, but God forbid if you need it and don't have it!
I know that illegals and other non-desirables walk right in, pay nothing and don't worry about bills and judgements, and bad credit, but I do.

I have a saying that is not directed toward you - just experience... "Figures don't lie - Lier's figure"
As far as the home forclosures - you must be talking about the world because the US % is different - along with vehicle repossesions, unpaid taxes, bankruptsy, etc.

You know what I have had tilapia. It is good. Thank you for reminding me though. I use to work for a Japanese company and I tried to fit in. One time my boss and I went to dinner and he was carrying what looked like a purse. I told him that wasn't going to work.
This is off topic but Jennifer is a very pretty name.
