The image above? I've entitled: A Politician's Promises

HOCKEY PLAY OFFS! AND THE CANES ARE THERE!  WOOOOOOOOO WOOO WOOOOOOOOOOO

"Some people are like slinkies - not really good for anything, but still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs" - unknown

"Only I can change my life. No one can do it for me." ~Carol Burnett

It is not the business of government to make men virtuous or religious, or to preserve the fool from the consequences of his own folly. Government should be repressive no further than is necessary to secure liberty by protecting the equal rights of each from aggression on the part of others, and the moment governmental prohibitions extend beyond this line they are in danger of defeating the very ends they are intended to serve. – Henry George

The aim of public education is not to spread enlightenment at all, it is simply to reduce as many individuals as possible to the same safe level, to breed and train a standardized citizenry, to put down dissent and originality. – H L. Mencken

Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery. - Winston Churchill

Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm. - Winston Churchill

If you’re young and not a liberal, you haven’t got a heart. But if you’re old and not conservative, you haven’t got a brain! - allegedly Winton Churchill (though has been challenged Churchill actually said this)

Where is a UFO when you need one.....

Tidbit is actually a real nickname I earned because I have a plethera of worthless knowledge that means exactly squat. One of my co workers gave it to me when she would randomly walk by my desk and ask me silly questions to see if I had the answer and / or knew where she could find it. I also collect strange books of useless facts like "Do Fish Drink Water".

I'm very passionate about my political beliefs, but I always try to be open about other people's views. If I'm not, I'll never learn or grow or improve my own argument (evil grin).

I am a woman.. I get testy.. get over it. Sometimes I actually do bite... my bark sucks so I have to do something to make up for it.

I'm always looking for a challenge, but considering I've been wealthy (or my family was) and came from a place where most people knew my family's last name, became homeless because of my own stupidity, and had a HOST of experiences from that and then worked my own way out of my situation, I've gained an interesting perspective. It's not better or more important than anyone else's, but it is unique.

Respect my opinions and beliefs and I'll respect yours. Remember, until you've walked in the road of the situation you are discussing, do you really have an honest and true perspective? Do you really have all sides or input?

And I do respect everyone's opinion whether I agree with it or not.  The only pet peeve I have is when people won't actually THINK about things.

For example - if you are for Universal Health Care I'd like you to answer these following questions:

  • What will be the actual changes wanted to be made?
  • What will be the necessary requirements to get these changes in place
  • Who will be impacted by the requirements (what groups- persons)
  • What are the potential long term impacts on those specific groups
  • What are the expected benefits?
  • How can the benefits be achieved
  • What are the potential pit falls
  • Do the pitfalls balance the benefits
  • Is the program(s) sustainable longterm

Once you answer these questions, sit back and THEN decide if you think "Universal Government Controlled" health care is the right answer for this country.  When I do this, nothing Clinton or Obama have put forth seem to actually benefit anyone except government

If you just answer the positives and ignore the negatives - you are only thinking emotionally and selfishly. It's it not just about YOU. The entire country is affected by your actions.

Hi Ms. Bit. Thank your for your posts. It's refreshing to see some actual debate on this forum.

Good Morning,Dont even mention yard work LOL,i have worked in my yard picking up small limbs and had it looking nice with some flowers planted. Now have to do it all over a gain after yesterdays winds. No need fore me to complain i will get it done.Wishing you a very good day.The sun is coming out here now.

Good Morning, Tidbit, just wanted to say you did a GREAT job at refuting that rubbage about Bush and Christianity. Have a great day :)

I was born/raised in Texas City. It's off the coast near Galveston and 20 to 30 miles south of Houston. I have relatives all over TX.--some near Dallas, too. I recently went for a visit in Feb. It will always be home, but I have to admit I love NC better!

Mornin tibit! (((hugs)))

Check this out... this is example of dryice's work, this is something I worked with him on...

http://www.wral.com/golo/image/1778674/

http://www.wral.com/golo/image/1778680/

He built that from scratch, it's a computer that we built just over a year ago ;-)

He also built his workshop from the ground up!

Heya! ((((hugs))))

Yup, that was the most unusual computer I've built so far, dryice built the casing and I designed the rest of it ;-)

Tidbit...I think a lot of it is because they see being here as their "right", as an entitlement. Other groups have always seen coming to America as a privilige, an honorable thing to be reached for. This group walks, wades or swims into the land and figures, it's just not that big of a thing.

"Maybe I'm missing something. What about those who have to PAY the IRS this year. So there is no "direct deposit". I guess we get stuck at the end of the line and get our mailed out ;o("

If you haven't yet filed your return and have to pay taxes this year, simply fill out the direct deposit information anyway, and your stimulus check (assuming you receive one) will be direct deposited.

If you've already filed and didn't fill out the direct deposit portion of the return, your check (assuming you receive one) will be mailed to you.

sending this to all my friends...

I started a raleigh based message board and am getting rather lonely talking to myself...please drop in and say hi and become a founding member! lol! :)

I'm still learning the board- I think it has more features than I know about, so as I learn, things shall be added!

Know it is late ,just had to stop in and say hellow to you.How has your day been.Mine has been good, benn out side with family that are here fore easter injoying this great sunshine and warm day.Hope you have a happy easter and a blessed one.

Bless your heart..A hug to you..for losing all that weight...Oh to lose that much myself. I'm in hopes it'll help me also. Thanks for being an inspiration!!!

Thank you. I lost my temper and needed someone to step in, I appreciate it very much.

I don't play games well and growing up in an alcoholoic family, I despise them and game players. Your timing was impeccable :-)

Hey thought i would stop by and say hellow and hope you have had a good day.

Hi Jennifer, appreciate you leading me to your profile and your email. I prefer to keep things light for myself here on GOLO. It is my guilty pleasure I guess you could say. Sometimes I let some emotions out on some things but I have to be very careful. I do not like to debate here because I do enough of that already as it is. So likely I will not email, but please do not take it personally. I admire you a great deal for taking the initiative to find out information like you are. Shows a passion for something that has touched you somehow.

Info update on the recipe blog

Thank you tidbit! I appreciate the understanding. You have a good evening too. I am good for about another hour and then I am toast. Eyes already crossing!

oh i dont read any trashy magazines trying to tell me how to look, lol, thanks for commenting, i just saw a peice on it and riled me,lol

"You may not talk retarded -- but you think retarded and you got whatever you deserved"

Your assumption that I actually disrespected these people to their face must to of struck a nerve with you! I never said anything out of the way to these employees.

My point being, I expect the service I pay for & if the place of business is open for business, I expect the services that they advertise to be available If you didn't approve of my rant, you didn't have to read it, much less, comment on it.

Who's retarded now??

You may not talk retarded -- but you think retarded and you got whatever you deserved

good one....very good one.

" perhaps you didn't have the cahones to speak your mind allowed?"

Being a retired long distance truck driver, I would say I have the 'cahones'. A few years ago, I probably would have told these people what I was thinking. But I don't get off on hurting other peoples feelings, but I never sugar coat truth either. I just want what I pay for & I do expect a business to do what they advertise. If that makes me an a hole, so be it.

After reading your profile, you have no room to call me disrespectful although I say that with no ill intent. Lessons learned are lessons earned.

And why would it bother you for me to mention someone being grossly overweight, unless you are in that class?

People need to get over themselves with being offended. We're living in a world with a bunch of babies. If people can't handle the truth, they need to stay home.

I read everything. But I didn't put mine in riddles as you. I am plain spoken & don't see the reason to ask one question & follow up on an opposite question. To me it is like a game you played when you were in grade school with such remarks as maybe I did, maybe I didn't. It is either one or the other, can't have both ways. I don't have any issues with myself, as you put it. And no, I don't pick on people if they are fat. That is their problem. I just made an observation. Out of all of those posters, you seem to be about the only one who had a problem with the way I described my night, other than bones, but she would argue with a rattle snake. So I would gather from you, you are either not from here, or you have a weight problem of your own for you to make a big deal out of my blog. Or, you may be a liberal. They are pretty good about making something out of nothing.

Tidbit- I've always loved your comments! Keep em coming. I also love the eye poking .gif you have up there. LOL

You made some interesting points. I liked what you wrote, and hope all will read it.

She probalby hasn't I have-- So have I tidbit in Oregon 3,000 miles from my birth home....

Good blogs this morning, have a great week!

does the rabbit ever get the carrot? i was hoping the anim would finish with the rabbit going off and getting the carrot

LOL, I always enjoy your post and this is the first time I did not stand behind your points. Very fun to finally engage you..

'I can't believe they didn't offer to research and find it for you or what happened.'

Research concluded that funds were withdrawn from my account via my ATM card in which I was the sole holder, from the local branch. When I produced receipts of me being out of state at the time, (Company credit cards, log book, etc.), they informed me that it didn't prove anything & they had made no mistake. My company did back me, but in the end, I was out of a months pay.

I told them they had a thief on board & I would no longer do any more business with them. I thought of taking them to court, but they had more time & resources than I did.

And that was pretty much the end of it. I learned a few things from that experience.

The year was 1987. I was a long distance truck driver, so keeping up with receipts was an absolute. The Company credit cards that I had, had my employee number on the cards & that number would match my personel file, plus only valid upon my signature which was plainly stated on my cards. All of these receipts, which had time & date stamp, had to match my 'Driver Log Book' in which is monitored by State DOT & the FCC, & company safety director, which shows where I am at every single minute of the day while I was on company business, which with this company, I would leave on Sunday & return on Thursday night or Friday daytime.

Even with all of this proof, they insisted my card was used at that particular location & withdrew $200.00 on each event, in which that was the max you could draw in 1 24 hour period.

So, in my mind, someone who had access to the accounts, munipulated my card numbers & stole my money.

that protest is supposed to be on the first, I believe. The website is down where I found it, but I'll look again.

You are my hero... lol

I LOVE your posts. Smart and informative, well thought out, concise and to-the-point. Thanks.

and ..and PLEASE STOP TEASING THE RABBIT!!!! ( is it a rabbit??)

( haha--have a wonderful night)

Thank you so much for your kind words. My son has been in since he was 17. This is his first tour and he has been over there since 10/07. He is due home for leave in Sept. I cannot wait!

you've been busy tonight, but you've done a good job - my compliments!

Thank you for your advice on looking up shock value but I don't need to because I know what it means. I also took public speaking. And again, you assume that you need to educate someone. That would be my point. Because someone disagrees with me does not mean that they are stupid or ignorant or needs shocking to wake up. It means they disagree with me. When I read those comments I thought they were used mean spirited. I did not think the person was stupid, etc. I thought the person just disagreed with you. I still think the comments were over the top and a little much for debating. You have your opinion and I have mine. Nothing wrong with that. Not going to change.

Nice catch. You were the only one who called me out on stereotyping the Right on tmedlin's blog.

The difference, however, is that I'm commenting on people's stories and debating the topics that come up. She was taking a view of "look at these dang liberals desecrating the flag, because they don't care about america, while we conservatives save the nation fighting for freedom in Iraq." And that's just not true. There are many very patriotic liberals and non-patriotic conservatives. But, she does blog after blog of "liberals bad - conservatives good." Usually with no real evidence behind them. I prefer to discuss the facts behind thing. I have found that if I quote MSM, I usually don't get through with most of the people I debate, but they don't question if it's a story from FOX.

"Thank goodness for libraries!!!" LOL - my wife is a librarian.

Tidbit...about the evolution blog w/ ben stein...in my haste to leave work i failed to put the caption of depending on where you go to hs, bc my high school had a fairly good understanding bw teachers to not emphasize evolution...as far as i can remember unless my memory fails, Darwin's Origin of Species was mentioned in intro biology and he was noted as the father of evolution, but we never went any more in depth than that....both the themes of creationism and evolution where explored in literature in a relatively even manner..but like i said thats in my hs experience. oh and one more thing, next time you critique my comments, please spell my name right!! milkkbone w/ two k's!! ;-) jk..i enjoy your comments...have a great weekend!

Thank you for your comments on my blog earlier. It sounds like you have some real winners next door to you. Being a jerk is universal, lol.

tidbit- I was going to come and apologize but you seem to want to get into a p!$$!ng contest so I am not sure how much good it would do. I NEVER said reading a bunch of liberal sites would make you well rounded and I don't know how to make it any clearer that a person should look for as many viewpoints as possible to get the big picture on issues. That is the ONLY thing I was advocating...I do apologize anyway (again not sure how much good it will do).

"Point in fact - on MANY other blogs, I've posted how I don't even watch TV at all - we don't have cable or satellite. I don't watch the news. I use the internet mainstream outlets - Cnn, MSNBC, Fox, BBC, etc...."

lol...sorry I haven't stalked you enough to find this out...anyway I hope your family emergency is resolved and all is well.

Now i know who you are i have seen that profile before. How are you doing?Been a while sense i have talked to you. When are you going to let that rabbit have his carroit?

Sigh, hockey season is over...well for you and me ... lol Guess we'll just have to whoop up on you guys again next year! :) I'm still hopeful one day we will win the Cup..how's that for an all time display of Optimistic? LOL Have a great weekend!

Sorry, fore the poor little rabbit he looks so sad or mad i don't know whitch.you are right though.Hope you are haveing a great weekend.:)

OMG...how horrible...I sure hope everything works out with your daughter!

good morning...was reading the comments on your profile - stay tuned for my next "liberals, bad - conservatives, good" blog! Facts tend to make libs crazy, especially the moderate libs who are hurt by the actions of the millions of extremists from the left! The right has their crazies, too - they just don't run the Republican party, like the moonbats who mandate the policies of the Dem. party...

I'm pretty sure I read that conservatives give on average 30% more to charities than libs...

Good night, It has been a fun weekend even though my back is messed up. It will be back to the books tomorrow. Take care. See ya around. And most importantly, don't be giving out free medical advice.
