The image above? I've entitled: A Politician's Promises
HOCKEY PLAY OFFS! AND THE CANES ARE THERE! WOOOOOOOOO WOOO WOOOOOOOOOOO
"Some people are like slinkies - not really good for anything, but still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs" - unknown
"Only I can change my life. No one can do it for me." ~Carol Burnett
It is not the business of government to make men virtuous or religious, or to preserve the fool from the consequences of his own folly. Government should be repressive no further than is necessary to secure liberty by protecting the equal rights of each from aggression on the part of others, and the moment governmental prohibitions extend beyond this line they are in danger of defeating the very ends they are intended to serve. – Henry George
The aim of public education is not to spread enlightenment at all, it is simply to reduce as many individuals as possible to the same safe level, to breed and train a standardized citizenry, to put down dissent and originality. – H L. Mencken
Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery. - Winston Churchill
Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm. - Winston Churchill
If you’re young and not a liberal, you haven’t got a heart. But if you’re old and not conservative, you haven’t got a brain! - allegedly Winton Churchill (though has been challenged Churchill actually said this)
Where is a UFO when you need one.....
Tidbit is actually a real nickname I earned because I have a plethera of worthless knowledge that means exactly squat. One of my co workers gave it to me when she would randomly walk by my desk and ask me silly questions to see if I had the answer and / or knew where she could find it. I also collect strange books of useless facts like "Do Fish Drink Water".
I'm very passionate about my political beliefs, but I always try to be open about other people's views. If I'm not, I'll never learn or grow or improve my own argument (evil grin).
I am a woman.. I get testy.. get over it. Sometimes I actually do bite... my bark sucks so I have to do something to make up for it.
I'm always looking for a challenge, but considering I've been wealthy (or my family was) and came from a place where most people knew my family's last name, became homeless because of my own stupidity, and had a HOST of experiences from that and then worked my own way out of my situation, I've gained an interesting perspective. It's not better or more important than anyone else's, but it is unique.
Respect my opinions and beliefs and I'll respect yours. Remember, until you've walked in the road of the situation you are discussing, do you really have an honest and true perspective? Do you really have all sides or input?
And I do respect everyone's opinion whether I agree with it or not. The only pet peeve I have is when people won't actually THINK about things.
For example - if you are for Universal Health Care I'd like you to answer these following questions:
- What will be the actual changes wanted to be made?
- What will be the necessary requirements to get these changes in place
- Who will be impacted by the requirements (what groups- persons)
- What are the potential long term impacts on those specific groups
- What are the expected benefits?
- How can the benefits be achieved
- What are the potential pit falls
- Do the pitfalls balance the benefits
- Is the program(s) sustainable longterm
Once you answer these questions, sit back and THEN decide if you think "Universal Government Controlled" health care is the right answer for this country. When I do this, nothing Clinton or Obama have put forth seem to actually benefit anyone except government
If you just answer the positives and ignore the negatives - you are only thinking emotionally and selfishly. It's it not just about YOU. The entire country is affected by your actions.

Have you been watching Dollhouse? I started watching it as it was by Josh Whedon. I am still on the fence about it. I'm going to give it the season to see how it turns out. To me, it has started getting better the last couple of episodes. (haven't watched last night's yet)

I never watch television shows on tv now, just on my computer. :D Between Hulu, Ninjavideo and a couple of torrent sites I get to feed my addiction and for the most part watch stuff when I want to watch it and without annoying commercials. (except for hulu but their commercials aren't too terrible) Plus I get to watch shows from other countries. I have to confess to being a closet BBC fan. I just got through watching a show called Being Human which was pretty cool as the 3 main chars were a vampire, werewolf and a ghost living in a house trying to be human. It was pretty good.
I need to look for that sing along. I've heard good things ab

It is pretty easy to do. (so easy that I taught my dad! LOL) You just need a program to download it. I use http://utorrent.com/ as it is really pretty user friendly. It opened up a lot of tv doors to me. If you join TheBox.bz, they have a pretty good explanation on how to keep up a good ratio if you read it. LOL. My Dad did not and downloaded about 20G of tv shows and then got put on probation. They like him though because he just sends them donations to fix his problem instead of seeding stuff back like I do. :D (paying for it kind of defeats the whole free aspect in my mind!)

I assume you have seen my posts on Gucci's profile.
After seeing indications that your post was an actual story, I did not feel comfortable posting directly to you.
I have seen such rediculous 'examples' posted on here and under the circumstances of the other day, it appeared to be such a situation.
I WOULD NEVER KNOWINGLY DISPARAGE ANYONE UNDER SUCH CIRCUMSTANCES.
I admire you abiltity to be open about such a tragic circumstance. I did not realize you were serious.
As I posted on Gucci's profile, I sincererly apologize because I spoke unknowingly about the circumstance.
And to further indicate that I am not an unfeeling monster, if you are up to it, re-read my earlier posts where I indicated that rape and incest cases were specifically exempted from my statements before we ever got to your situation.
Perhaps that will secure more credibility for my apology.

I hope given that situation that you can see why I made a smarmy remark since it seemed unreal to me at the time - I would never expect such candor regarding a personal tragedy.
I will attack a political position at the first opportunity - but I do have compassion for the person.
I am glad to see you moving forward with your life.
I would never have knowingly caused you grief about such a situation.

I just realized we are the same age. Very cool. :)
We also seem to have a lot in common. I also lost a LOT of weight. It's tough, but I'm so much happier.

Sorry, long meeting and went to lunch. Blog barried now, so I came here to respond to you. Honestly, I don't think it will work. For the same reason none of the "3rd" party groups have worked before. The Dems & the Repubs will out spend to out voice and they will be burried in the sand.
For example, if anyone ever heard Mike Munger speak, it would have been hard NOT to vote for him in the last election, yet most people didn't even know who he was because the $$ spent by McCrory & Perdue got them way more coverage."
No problem, I was just curious as to how you felt. I tend to be looked at as liberal, but I feel mostly fiscal conservative and socially liberal. I've liked most of what I've read about the new Whigs party, but I have to agree with you, any other 3rd party just won't gain momentum to win. What is one to do? :) Thanks for posting your answer on my profile.

and i agree with you here as well. but, if you are interested in changing laws to permit gay marriage, why not change laws to permit marriage by adolescents? my big picture question, is where do lines get drawn, and who determines what is right?
