I read your comment on the article about the boy that jumped off the bridge in Apex. When it comes down to it you are arguing nature vs. nurture. I see that you think that parents are responsible for the "bad kids" in todays society. I'd like to debate that point with you if you're up for it. It is hard to find intelligent people to debate with these days, but you seem pretty knowledgable about your opinion, so I was hoping that maybe we could wit it out. Just for fun, nothing angry or negative. Let me know.

Red Rocker,

I am very game. If you would like, please launch the first round.

"I do not like being put into a generic Politically Incorrect group"

Who are you and what did you crawl from underneath 'cause apparently you have no respect for others.

Hope you enjoy golo. There are a few you will fit right nicely in place with.

I am proud of my heritage and try not to rub anything in anyone's face. What you said was disrespectful.

You say you love everyone. That's a crock of bull.

Have a good night and a good life. I think you may need the blessings with your attitude.

Amen brother, we should have set up motion-sensing .50 cal's at every 100 yards from the gulf to baja a long time ago.

WAY TO GO ON THE DOGWOOD FESTIVAL COMMENTS! I REALLY COULDN'T SAY ANYTHING ELSE B/C YOU SAID IT ALL!!!

:-D Now that you've seen that child in the picture, commit that image to memory and be on the lookout when in public. You never know when you might be that one person that can help rescue a missing child. Thanks for looking!

I have way more respect for someone who comes into this country legally than I do Illegally and getting a free ride from the system set up by democrats to aide poor people.

That same system for AMERICANS is milking us dry because of "entitlements" that are NOT entitlements.

"If that was the case, then all children would get the same amount of money. Not Joe, who gets paid $32,000 a year has to pay $40,000 a year in child support; and Fred who makes $1.2 Million only has to pay $50 a year for it."

**I think you may have written that backwards! The more money you make, the more child support you have to pay. I only get $100 per month in child support because my child's father make a little above minimum wage. But get this, because I'm considered middle class, if he had custody, I would have to pay him $700 a month plus cover the child on my insurance! Now thats what you call unjust LOL.**

You do not gain respect with out showing it my friend. It is called mutual respect. You can not dam* people in one sentence by saying they are making you sick and then ask for respect in the second.

You need to reread sir..........I was saying that as an example of what did you want people to say. I see nothing wrong if someone wants to bless things. I did not dam* people. As yes people on golo do make me feel sick sometimes when they fight so badly and demoralize others with their remarks. And yes, Angela has asked people to stop making a blog about another member to tear them down. I was asking people to show respect and sir, I have tried to show respect since I have been on here. I was raised that way................

Howdy Admiral. Gotta say I thought your comment on the story about me was kinda spiteful. What made you think I'm a liberal? Why would you generalize all liberals like that? What kind of comment is that anyway- that liberals don't honor contractual obligations? When did I refuse to honor mine? I went through the proper channels to appeal my reactivation, failed, and am now reporting as ordered. In Vietnam Elvis was granted a deferment in order to finish a movie. I don't think it was out of line for me to request to finish my education before being reactivated...

Chris5 -

I agree with you. And when your deferment was denied - that should have been the end of the story, rather than have it printed in the media about how unfair your duty to country is.

I applaud you in your service. And heros like you are the reason why so many are interested in what is going on. However, when a situation like this arises - it is not newsworthy.

It is a spin that does nothing more than spew hatred and once they have beaten the politicians up like they did in Viet Nam, then they turn their hatred to the soldiers. And I for one believe that it should never happen.

I will add one thing. When you signed your contract was their a stipend saying you would be deferred unless in a University?

"**I think you may have written that backwards! The more money you make, the more child support you have to pay. I only get $100 per month in child support because my child's father make a little above minimum wage. But get this, because I'm considered middle class, if he had custody, I would have to pay him $700 a month plus cover the child on my insurance! Now thats what you call unjust LOL.**"

Thank you for proving the point.

Ladyblue - I said what I meant and I meant what I said. You can not in one hand demand respect from those who you are saying are not worthy of respect because of differing views.

Take it as you will, but the fact of the matter is that there are plenty of people on these boards who claim that they take the moral high ground that stab people in the back because they have a differing view.

You simply do NOT gain respect condemning someone else. PERIOD. You want that kind of respect join the Unitarians.

just cause its an old pic..doesnt mean it cant be used....

I wasn't sure you would see my reply

Our house was never broken into when we lived there or while we were home. It has been broken into either as rental property or we were out of town. Belive me when I say, I am well armed and am not afraid to defend my property.

Admiral-

I think what you're arguing for is exactly what's wrong with this war. What's wrong with me telling my story? If I'm not allowed or supposed to express my opinion, then what the hell am I fighting for? If the Army doesn't want these stories to come out, then they shouldn't reactivate former soldiers who are now graduate students in journalism. The simple fact is that to 99 percent of the American public, this war is nothing more than an abstraction - just a headline in a newspaper. People put little yellow magnets on their car and say they support the troops, then they go to the mall while those who have volunteered take it in the rear. Of course I don't think this is fair. I readily admit there are tons of soldiers who have it worse than I do, but there are a couple hundred million Americans back home who are being asked to sacrifice nothing for this war, who are getting tax cuts and stimulus checks, who have the luxury of forgetting this war is even going on.

Part 2-

And I think it's silly to say that so many people are paying attention to what's going on. The economy is a bigger issue to most Americans than the war on terrorism. Why? Because the war only affects those who are fighting it.

You don't have to agree, and I don't expect you to. But to criticize me for telling my story is ridiculous. The story was written by another graduate student for one of his classes. If it's not newsworthy, then AP shouldn't have picked it up. But they did. I can't help that. And I'll continue to tell my stories to anyone who asks. Expression is a right I put my life on the line for, so I'm going to exercise it.

"Slick Rick would prefer Letal Weapons to disburse the protesters so they do not have to have an ordeal."

Actually, i despise anyone that puts words into my mouth, especially something as ignorant as that comment. No, my point was, people have a right to protest LEGALLY. If they are doing so LEGALLY, i pray that the equipment is not being purchased to disburse legally organized and operated protests.

great statement on energy drinks. did you ever get your chlorine free?

i saw your comments on global warming and humans....i often wonder why everyone ignores the science showing sun spot cycles have more influence on global warming than anything man can do.

Hi there,

Good points and while my intent was not humor I'm glad you saw some in it. I'm not sure what you mean by "not gonna happen" but my assumption is that you are saying we are not as a nation going to address the issue of oil dependency.

I still think the oil embargo was OPEC basically showing us they could bring us to our knees. Perhaps you are not old enough to recall the odd/even day rationing and gas lines of that era. It was a supply/demand issue not us trying to annoy OPEC.

Wouldn't all of us commuting in these so called matchboxes make sense while saving the SUVs for the family stuff? That in itself would cut demand significantly.

As for fuel efficiency and emissions. Surely cars in general are better at both of those but there are also countless more cars on the road that there were even 20 years ago.

Thanks

Chris5 -

That is nice - sorry to hear - but since that story has been dropped - I have moved on with my life.

I hope that your deployment is short, and for god sakes, keep your head down.

I simply stated in an intrinsic fashion - there is not a story here.

Strolling Bones -

Two comments -

No I did not get any chlorine free. I did see that the caffene in one of the drinks, based on the serving size, is nearly 1200% more than a cup of coffee at 35 mg. Many doctors will agree that 5 cups of coffee a day is the max that you should take.

On the Global Warming issue - people are more interested in the alarmist attitude of Al Gore and the other whackos that have no evidence than the ones who are the stewards of the environment.

A perfect example was on the history channel last night who was saying that the permafrost on the globe keeps getting bigger. But those scientists will be discredited for junk science when they are on the front lines.

CFL's are bad - Mercury & Lead. They say trace amounts. But how many have to wind up in the landfill before it is an EPA supersite?

KevinApex -

People are not addicted to fuel. They are addicted to their SUV's. I have an Excursion and two four cylinder trucks that I drive. The Excursion lugs 9 kids around and the two four cylinder trucks lug me around.

Until people are un-addicted to their SUV's - we can forget about energy independence. There is no IF's, AND'S or BUT's about it.

i just fell asleep at work so i am going thru my friends and typing so it looks as if i am doing something. have a great rest of the day.

"If they are doing so LEGALLY, i pray that the equipment is not being purchased to disburse legally organized and operated protests."

Once they step out of the legal part of their assembly, then I hope the police use all of the force they have to ensure it is legal and safe for the innocent. If you are there and turn a legal assembly into a Mass Mob, then you do not have the right to assemble.

Rubber Bullets and 55 gallon drums of mustard gas HO!

who cares about the politically correct? happy dance!!!! 3 day weekend :)

"My legs are rotting because of Diabetes. So you want to complain to me when I pull up in the spot? I can show you!"

Admiral, I just wanted to clarify that we have no problem with folks like you who have a legitimate reason for parking up close, that is what those spaces are for. BTW, my Daddy had that same problem with his legs, I know it's a tough disease. My wife has it too.

The ones that we are griping about are the ones who do not deserve to park there, they are just in a hurry or lazy, or both and deprive folks like you or my Daddy from their parking space.

IDontCare2 - You better watch out - DSS is looking for those who STARVE a kid with Bologna. THE ADMIRAL

In reply to your post on my DoE blog: "Wait a minute. Your saying that 41 Billion Barrels and 210 Trillion cubic feet of Natural Gas are not significant." Admiral; No, Of course not!! Those are the numbers for oil available on off shore sea bottom already open for drilling!! I'm saying the remaining 18 billion we're fighting about, is spread out and very difficult (read expensive) to exploit. "Where were the other important pieces?" I also included a link to the entire report in the blog: http://www.eia.doe.gov/oiaf/aeo/otheranalysis/ongr.html There are other important pieces in it, please, I'd love for you to read it. "Some folks can't think past the nose on their face." True, And some don't bother to think at all...

Admiral, I just have to ask - what is it that started your hatred of the ACLU? Was there a specific case, and if so... what on earth was it?

Well, I want to ready your comments. Sorry they will not post them. We need to have an adult (read REAL WORLD) section for those who are not afraid of the issues.

Very intelligent posts. You drive your points in with a sledgehammer, and back them up with irrefutable facts. Thank you.

i usually wait till midnite to do this but im hittin da bed lol. happy humperz!!

I liked your comment regarding the gang story on 8/12. Three strikes and your off to prison where the gang activity is alive, well and behind bars.

The next sound you hear will be that of your knees creaking.

"grow a backbone and defend yourself if it was truly innocent"

Backbone has nothing to do with it. You're still missing the point -- if an accusation like that is made, it doesn't matter if someone is innocent. That's one accusation that people will believe and react to. If an innocent person doesn't wind up dead, they'll at least wind up ruined -- branded falsely and most likely unemployed, with their career destroyed. And guilt has nothing to do with it.

Any person who avoids false accusations of that sort is protecting his family from financial problems. Nothing spineless or childish about that; it's accepting responsibility. And if that means sticking to my own kids in the pool rather than letting strangers "use me as a diving board" then I'm fine with it, and it doesn't affect you or society in the least. People buy insurance to protect against lawsuits that stem from false accusations -- is that spineless?

Blame the perps for society, not me. You talk like Obama.

"This is the immature, nagging whiney crybaby mentality who should not reproduce and spread their intolerance."

Since you wrote posted this with my quote, I can only assume you're including me among them. If that's the case, please go back and read my entire comment. You quoted me out of context. I acknowledged the offensive nature of the word, but went on to say no one should be banned from using it. I don't smoke, either, but I don't tell other people not to.

How is what I said immature, nagging, whiney, or being a crybaby? Feel free to try to point out specific examples of any of those four characteristics in what I wrote; you won't find them.

"I acknowledged the offensive nature of the word, but went on to say no one should be banned from using it. " - Yacs

"How is what I said immature, nagging, whiney, or being a crybaby?" - Yacs

The founding fathers of this country said "We hold these truths to be self evident..."

"Backbone has nothing to do with it. "

Has everything to do with it.

"If an innocent person doesn't wind up dead, they'll at least wind up ruined -- branded falsely and most likely unemployed, with their career destroyed."

See Duke Lacrosse Case, Lost finger in Wendy's Chili case. The media has you brainwashed in being a victim.

"Any person who avoids false accusations of that sort is protecting his family from financial problems."

That is called being spineless and AVOIDING LIFE for the sake of avoiding confrontation.

"People buy insurance to protect against lawsuits that stem from false accusations -- is that spineless?"

Yes - if you are innocent - why do you need insurance? You are betting against yourself. That is a character flaw.

Bill O'reilly said it best when he was accused of buns grabbing and it wasn't true. "This woman is doing nothing more than blackmail to extort money from me because of who I am and nothing more."

I think your afraid of life. Life happens.

"Blame the perps for society, not me. You talk like Obama."

You control your destiny - not the perps. You think you are a perp when others touch you. You are your own victim.

"You do your thing, and I'll do mine." - Montgomery Gentry. This song says it all. In addition to one other song which says "Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah just a jacking their jaw. I don't give a darn anyway..."

"You think you are a perp when others touch you."

Now you're psychoanalyzing me. And you're very bad at it. Where did you get that from? I unequivocably KNOW that I'm not a perp; that's not an issue. Get this straight -- I didn't do anything wrong. I'm not a perp. But I wouldn't want to be falsely accused of something. Being cautious is not a crime.

"That is called being spineless and AVOIDING LIFE for the sake of avoiding confrontation."

Please explain that intuitive leap. How am I AVOIDING LIFE by simply moving away from a kid I don't know, who's trying to crawl all over me in the pool? What, exactly, have I lost? Do be specific. If you think touching strange kids in the pool is the meaning of life, then there are bigger issues here.

"if you are innocent - why do you need insurance?"

Because the justice system fails sometimes. Ask any doctor about malpractice insurance. Sad, but true. People get punished for things they haven't done. Don't be obstinate.

"See Duke Lacrosse Case, Lost finger in Wendy's Chili case."

Sure, the good guys won those two times, but even with Duke, look what it cost them. And they'll still go through life branded.

"Bill O'reilly said it best when he was accused of buns grabbing and it wasn't true."

He was absolutely right. That's also why he has good lawyers on retainer -- "insurance" as it were. So, thanks for arguing against your own point.

"You control your destiny - not the perps."

Most of the time, yes. But false accusations happen, because perps' past actions have brought society into a frenzy. My caution is a symptom, not the cause.

"You are your own victim."

I'm not a victim; nothing's happened to me. Coincidence?Again, all it meant is that I moved over two feet and didn't have to deal with someone's kid crawling all over me -- what did I lose?

"I think your afraid of life."

Think what you want. It makes no difference to me. Why does it make a difference to you?

'The founding fathers of this country said "We hold these truths to be self evident..."'

Nope, you don't get off that easy. Explain yourself. Explain your pointless attacks on my character. You quoted me admitting that the word is offensive. But I wasn't complaining, I haven't asked anyone not to use it, and I don't give a dam whether it's in that movie. If you'd paid attention to my post, you might have understood that. But you didn't, because you were only there to call spiteful names. And you tell other people to grow up?

Please go back to the quote you referenced and point to anything whiney or nagging. You can't, because it's not there. Just like with this: "Has everything to do with it." Oh. Well. If you say so....

Sorry, but if you are incapable of logically backing up your claims, then move along.

"You do your thing, and I'll do mine."

Fine by me; I'm not the one attacking w/o provocation.

Please get out of Scouts before you really hurt someone.

"I hope that whomever's house was foreclosed on because they didn't get their mail becomes this buttheads responsibility."

Actually, he did a lot of people a huge favor. It was junk mail, Admiral. The law says he should have delivered it, and if you've missed a couple of thousand offers for credit cards you don't want, let me know. I'll be glad to furnish you with some.

"Nope, you don't get off that easy. Explain yourself. Explain your pointless attacks on my character"

You have to have character in order to defend it.

"Now you're psychoanalyzing me. And you're very bad at it. Where did you get that from? I unequivocably KNOW that I'm not a perp"

Then stop acting like one when someone comes within 10 feet of you. You are the one who has stated that you have the problem and you host a series of "What if's" not me.

That means that you lack the maturity that most people have. You have stated it over and over again that you are not a perp, but are afraid of defending yourself. Not me. I am not psycho analysing anyone.

I just think you need to see a psychiatrist for your problems. Because it is evident that it controls you, not you controlling it.

Thank you for playing.
