During my board interview, I was advised of this policy, and then asked what I would do if a fellow Police Officer on the other side of Town was in imminent danger and I had to respond? Well, I course I had to answer in a manner that they expected (wink-wink).
You soon learn that the only purpose of the policy was that if something happened during a pursuit... then you became the "Sacrificial Lamb""
And let me guess, every chase violated the policy but admin never said anything about it, right? Just waiting for something bad to happen, then the officers are in trouble.
