Hey sweetheart!!!!

Hope all is well your way. I wish you were here, it was gorgeous today. We could have taken the boat out in the sound and fished to our hearts content! The spots and mullet are running!!!!

That sounds fantastic! Yes, you keep me posted, and I'll be sure to make a trip to Moore County!!

I was looking at the web cam a few minutes ago, and saw the snow on the ground. It is so pretty, and I would love to be there.

You have a fabulous day, my dear friend!!

Looking chilly up your way, John. Hope you're doing well & enjoying the solitude of the snow... it's always so lovely and QUIET... shhhhhh.

Take care!

Terri in "almost 40ยบ Pender Co."

Hey John. 3 above zero I see on the cam, and it's 72 and balmy at the beach this afternoon. Periods of rain showers and sun, but still nice weather. The calm before the storm, as they say, because there is a cold front heading toward us. You've been used to such cold temps, you would probably melt down here. lol Have a super afternoon in the cold country!! Take care!!

Hi there John. I'm jealous of all that snow. But I sure am glad that it is 70 here.

I DID see that, and thought how freaky that was! A beautiful sunny day, and snowing, how cool!! Lot's of cool things in Alaska, especially Aurora lights!! What I wouldn't give to see that!!

Have a super evening John, and bundle up!!

Well, you can snuggle up with a cold one, and later snuggle up to a hot one! LOL I'm sure your girlfriend won't mind you snuggling with her. Jesus, 30 below....talk about shrinkage!!! lol

I sent you an email, by the way.

Darlin I would never be able to leave the house and if you could not keep the heat in the house probably never get out of bed with an electric blanket on high. I HATE being cold.

What thing about the Senate?

OK, I answered it AGAIN. I am not in the habit of repeating myself everytime another idiotic leftist raises the exact same issue. Especially when I have already answered it in the same blog eariler.

John you are a mess darlin. WHen you come this way again you will have to let me know. I could use a great big Polar bear hug.

Once again, I will concur with your points made regarding Ron Paul & how much we NEED him to run this country. I, however, was unable to use my vote this year in a disposable manner - in order to prove a point.

That having been said, I sure would love to see him come back for the next election, when maybe the crowds on BOTH sides of the fence can truly appreciate what his personal tenet has to offer. Until such time, I'll try to refrain from thinking "it's already too late".

Stay warm up there! Mid-sixties around these parts for the weekend... too danged hot!

Terri

I live in Sanford. Maybe you and Donnie and I can meet up for lunch. It would be a riot. Hope to see you soon.

No, you didn't upset me...everything is cool!!!

I see your temp today on the cam. Mercy It says -2. You folks have to be tough up there. I can see me now hundled by the fire in my long johns. Yep I said long johns.......

The nuts on the trees here are loaded this year, a sign that we are going to have a bad one. I guess your cold up there is like the heat in CA when I lived there. The humidity made all the difference in the heat. It seems to me that getting that low in temp-45 would cause cars and things to freeze up. What temp do you guys add the antifreeze for. you probably run nothing but antifreeze in the vehicles. It's been getting pretty chilly here already at nights.

"The far right of the party is responsible for this shellacking that McCain/Palin are going to take."

I don't know if you are being satirical or not but this is what I have been saying since Palin was appointed to the ticket...I know you like her but she is far too conservative for me...the reason I liked McCain was he was more moderate. I hope you get your Governor back and that she doesn't change because of this election...

"She is NOT that conservative! She is VERY LIBERTARIAN!!! That is something that I felt sure would come out, but she is so bent on becoming VP that she just went along with the tired lines they were feeding her."

Then I must apologize...because the GOP then has sullied her in my eyes... I was totally turned off by her based on her answers to the issues during the campaign (if she is acting merely as a GOP mouthpiece then she is really doing herself a disservice)...hope your day goes well...I am now thinking of lunch..."Welcome to Moe's" (don't know if there are any Moe's up there, but I love their burritos.

Hey John! The picture is of Aurora Borealis, there aren't any of the actual Lights. But, I liked the wolf, gave it a spooky feel for Halloween. Hope you're having a good evening, and I'm glad you enjoyed my blog.

No Yukon, I don't think of you as a stoner, nor did I even know Alaska has a pot problem. I just say that when people make delusionals statements.

yokon it probably won't help but I voted for her and John yesterday. And again these people in the lower 49 just might get another surprise this year election. In honesty I think she would be happier back in AK, the country she loves. It takes special folks to can handle even the climate and the days and nights up there. I bet two thirds of Golo would crumble the first week under the strain of the climate alone and those twilight nights. They would be crying like babies to come back down south. LOL I knew you had to have stigma to deal with that alone because a lot of depression occurs there due to that environment. Is the ice melting up there where some of the natives reside on. That would make them have to move would it not. I noticed it said it was affecting areas up there.

"Hey Buddy, LTNS...hope all is well with you and you are having a fantastic Friday and will have a super weekend!! Yeah, I guess funky neighbor lee just didnt like me...LOL"

Sorry for the delayed reply. I'm sure I was having a fantastic Friday back when you asked. :)

"I knew that Geo. Bush would be the downfall of the Republican party, and Rush and Sean have made sure of it!!"

Do you think this is a good thing?

Goodmorning Rick, Hey, you are right about the PFD. It is what it is, and I guess if you look up the definition of socialist, it would have our pictures, but we dont consider ourselves socialist. I, for one, do not dispute that definition, but we are severely free up here. Free like America USED TO BE!! We are not bound to our govt., and unlike down there, our govt fears its citizens, not the other way around!! Juat wanting to clarify some things.

I am trying to define that Alaska is not socialist and you are saying the opposite. I do not think the PFD makes it socialist.difference is you are not taking it from one class of citizen to give the other, as true socialism is and the state govenment does not have control over alaska without federal government as well. In other words Palin is not the boss in the scheme of things. IMO bringing them into the union under the guidlines of federal govenment. Everyone who worked would have to put their money in PFD to be redistributed equally

"I am a Ron Paul supporter, not a McCain supporter."

Sometime in the late 70s, I took a two-three day class on the US Constitution as presented by the Libertarian party. (This was just ahead of the first Reagan campaign.) There were some very interesting concepts there, but I'm not sure the party is the same after all this time. Is there a website where the Libertarians lay out - in detail - what they stand for? Or at least a springboard place?

hi John, delete dayum sessy from your friend list

We have a friend who was on the raid.Scotty Mcewan.Dont know if you knew him or not.He died a few years ago of liver cancer.

I asked if they had any information that could explain the permanent fund so I could show the folks in NC that it does not mean the state is socialist.

Yes I've read all I could find on it to try to prove to slick that it does not make the state socialist. I've been learning so much I kind of envy the freedoms you have in your personal lives. I read about the personal use you can keep of 2 oz as being legal. I've learned that she not only has to deal with the state but the over 200 native tribes and their needs and laws as well. You have to have legal knowledge to know what is and is not following the proper laws of each phase of the government up there. To me the only difference in the fund and our NC highway fund is that we are the ones putting the money into the fund (18% on each gallon gas) as opposed to the oil companies. In turn the AK people get the money back unlike our government who collects it to keep up our highways and bridges, but instead they rob the fund to balance the budget. It leaves less room for government corruption as well. A good example in the difference in the respect for it's people's privacy i have a good

friend and his wife who worked hard here. They are users and they had 1 1/2 ounces at home. A family member got mad at the husband so she called the sheriff and said her brother was smoking weed while driving. They can't see him so they drive to his house and look in his truck in his own yard and find a roach. They then knock on his door and come in and search his house becasue our laws gave them the right and because he had over the ounce they charged him for a felony of maintaining a dwelling, intent to sell. I've known this man and his wife for three years and they have never sold one bit but he will probably loose his construction business and his life for their own personal use. This is not right with as many drug dealers out ther really selling hard core and making a living on it. These people paid for every bit they ever smoked and never sold a thing. I'm sure sarah is too busy to answer my email but I hope they can give me a answer in the difference so I can get these folk

straight that AK is far from a socialist state. Oh well some folks can't see the fire for the flame. I'm getting bashed down here and I've already voted so I stay off the blogs unless I see where they are completely stupid in their comments. It looks like Sarah will be coming home and let her build up that experience and build up here name so when and if she does return she'll be ready for the wolves. I think about how the Obama tax plan is going to work for the nation. I know some states have higher wages than others and someone making a lot of money in NY can't live as cheap as someone here making the same money, so I'm waiting to see how in the world this thing is going to work.

/* bump stumble giggle */

trick or treat!!

BOO!!! :-)

Thanks for the website - it's interesting stuff. I'll have dozens of questions once I have a chance to really read it, but meanwhile... and this is not terribly important but very curious... why did Volger hate aspens? I thought they were one of the prettiest things about Alaskan autumn.

I'll look up Woodchopper Creek (doesn't happen to run through Clam Gulch, I suppose...) thanks! I got the "hates aspens" idea from several of the biographies I found for him on-line. It's not terribly important, but I just thought it was odd.

Happy Halloween and AAAARRRROOOOO, AAAARRRROOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! to you!!!!!!!!!!! (The AROOO's are from my coonhound girls)

Hey John, hope you have a great weekend. I'm ready for this election to be over and I know you are too! Stay warm brother. Peace...

Yokon I got bocephus singing you a song.. When you get a chance look it up and enjoy. It's country and it's hank and he's singing about palin. Cracked me up . Time for me to check out the weather up there too. Hope it's warmer today

thanks for the comment! I'm usually pigeon-holed as a "tree hugging, kum-by-yah'ing, dadgummed lib'ral", and, that ain't far from the truth. But, there's room for all of us.

And, if I didn't have family roots and obligations, and thought I could receive a disability check, I've always been intrigued by B.C.---and if Palin stays down here and becomes the white Oprah, Alaska would be a good prospect, too!!

when I voted Thursday, it was after getting a marriage license, as my fiance and I are doin' the deed in a couple of weeks--we've found "the one" after too many attempts, missteps, mistakes and downright travesties. we'd be happy to steal away up North.

I read Mark Vonnegut's "The Eden Express" in college, and have been enchanted with thoughts of B.C. ever since, and "Northern Exposure" opened up other notions of individuals living life in their own rhythm.

But, we just moved into this house, and it's gonna be hard to get us out of it---moving sucks!

Gotta have faith that the pendulum will swing in a more favorable fashion soon, and things will settle down to a more reasonable pace.

THIS WAS THE FOURTH COLDEST OCTOBER IN THE PAST 104 YEARS IN FAIRBANKS. THE 13 DAYS WITH LOW TEMPERATURES OF ZERO OR LOWER ARE THE MOST IN OCTOBER SINCE 1965.

That's strange considering all the global warming we're hearing up there. I was looking at where some of the homes up there were in trouble of the water rising from the melting. Showed the sled dogs were almost in water where there used to be all snow ice. Do they have people living on ice there? I was wondering what they would do. It sounded pretty bleak in some parts up there.

lordy John you and the misses better watch out up there. If it keeps warming up in the climate you may wake up one day and find your house has sunk down about one hundred feet. It's a wonder the scientist haven't dug down in those sections to see what they think about things from the past. You could have lots of early man living under you. They supposedly took the strait Bering as their road of travel all those years ago.

saw her, had a reat time. didn't get a chance to talk to her, of course.

Don't know if I told you, but I my uncle in Wasilla knows her and the Heath's pretty well. (Neighbors for 30 years or so.) He thinks the world of her.

Turn on the high-powered fans and blow some of that cold air this way -- maybe it'll make it here by Christmas, for a change!

Navajoe and Athabaskans (interior Indians of Alaska) I've done some research on the first people in America and it's not the native Indian as was thought but that the native Indian probably came from Europe, Spain and also Asia. If you think of it they do have similar features.

believe it or not, that is a thought that has crossed my mind several times, especially after i was up there a few years ago. i am the outdoors type, so i think it would be a fun place (at least in the summers). i also like the whole no tax / dividend deal (i wasn't trying to knock it before, just pointing out her hypocrisy). the only thing is, my girlfriend/soon to be fiance (tobysmom on here) would probably kill me, or at least tie me up and not let me go. the reality of the matter, however, is that if i do not find a job around here soon, i am gonna have to go elsewhere. that could make alaska more of a possibility. regardless, i will probably end up in a "legal" state somewhere.

you know what gets me about the whole legalization thing? it was only criminalized because the first drug czar, harry anslinger, (i have seen him on video saying this...the history channel has a good show about it) "got tired of going to parties and seeing people acting goofy." it's just ridiculous. i thought this was the land of the free. it's just a plant that grows in the wild, ya know?

Hi, my friend! I popped in here a couple of times today and saw you were online but it's been a busy one here and didn't have a second to say hello. How are you? How's your weather? Snow, I bet. :) I want some .........

Okay, question ..... in your blog "palin plans stop in raleigh today," what type of creature was in the pic? Oh, dumb me, I couldn't figure that one out but I was amused.

Take care, stay warm, and HUGS to you!

Thanks for the inside scoop on the Legislative panel...I just hope she is not completely done in by this election...if she is as great a leader as you have indicated then maybe she can mend fences in Alaska if things don't go well for them today.

Hey Yukon--think you might stop by the live blog tonight and let GOLO and WRAL know what's happening in Alaska? You could be our GOLO correspondent since you live there. :-) Angela
