(((((((((((john))))))))))))

Drugs like meth cause good people to do crazy things.

I'm sorry. :(

Again, I hafta offer you hugs, john.

(((((((((john))))))))))

That's a terrible thing. No one should ever have to buy their child. *sigh*

It is something I never allow myself to truly consider. I have 3 kids (they're 18, 11, and 7) and man... it's just not a thing I can put into my head, yanno?

You take care up there... snow! Woah... it's still all hot and humid down here!

Have a good weekend!

Hey! I think the libs are trying to portray he as an uberconservative on social issues, when her record and her interviews have shown her to be very tolerant. Having personal views is one thing, trying to cram them down the throats of others, is another. I hope she's strong enough to withstand all the BS, and that this troopergate mess doesn't derail her. The interview with Gibson was insulting, but she handled it will. She'll be on Chris Wallace tomorrow morning. I suspect it will be more of an interview, than an interrogation. I'm leaving town, going fising for a week. When I get back, I'm working as a volunteer to help her get elected. If they win, she'll end up as our first female president. I've been battling with some over the Gravina Isalnd bridge...it looks like she made the right decision on that, as well as the right decision on Knik Arm. slickrick has posted several blogs about her...calling her "liar" and ranting like Lightfoot...oh well...take care..

yukon, what is it you think the Republicans are doing to Sarah? Democrats are accusing her of speaking in tongues, wanting to teach creationism is schools, refusing to allow sex education, etc. THEY are the ones who are painting her to be a far right extremist, NOT the R's, who are showing her to be a moderate governor that takes on corruption, no matter what side of the aisle. R's are the ones saying she not a single dimension person. The democrats are the ones saying she seems to be "nice" and maybe "good-lookin" but not capable of governing in a reform-minded way. Dems are the ones on the Sunday talk shows saying she would have women arrested for having an abortion after being raped. The R's are not.The R's honor her personal opinions, at the same time respecting her libertarian positions when it comes to policy and legislation. The repubs. have refuted every smear the left has assaulted her with. What did the R's do, that you are concerned about? I don't get it.

Hey John!!!!!!!!

Arent you coming to NC soon?

It's frigid here, 72 degrees now and 55 tonight. Leave me your area code sometime so I can plug in your forecast, and harrass you. Speaking of harrassing, I have been laying low on the political blogs the last few weeks...it got too ugly and polarized for my taste. Take care my pal...jack

John, if I had the money and KNEW I'd have a place to crash... I would SO be there! I've always wanted to visit !!

well, I still don't understand...what changes to previous positions has she taken? Didn't she want to open up Anwar and other areas for drilling? Tell me where she's changed... Seems like she fought corruption up there, and says she wants to do it in Washington...can you give me some specifics?

Hey John! What's up?

Sorry to hear you are disappointed with the way the nat'l campaign is going... Maybe I haven't been following as closely as you but I think she is holding her own very well against viscous attacks from the left. I really haven't heard anything but praise from the right, folks like Newt, Rush and other pundits...

I'm still waiting to hear more from her on things like privacy, freedoms, and other libertarian leaning views but I imagine she might be waiting until after the election to let that part of herself shine through, which is a shame. Sometimes you need to get your foot in the door first I suppose...

Anyway, hope you are having a great weekend my friend!

yukon, I agree; but the reality is, that in campaigns, they are going to talk about the top 5 or so issues with MOST voters - they never get deep into details of secondary issues. So we've got the war, economy, taxes, healthcare, national security, immigration, and jobs. Those are going to be the issues that both sides focus on. They aren't going to focus on monetary policy, social security, entitlement reform, etc. Just never works that way.

Yukon!

Nice to hear from you again.

I see that y’all from up there in the big AL state have livened up the political scene a bit. Good! It definitely needs it considering what our other choice is ....

In case you can’t guess, she’s got my vote ....

School is becoming a bit stressful – it’s not easy being the world’s oldest graduate student (well, maybe) and also working 40 hours/week – but I should be out in about a year. I’m still not quite sure why I’m doing it. I guess maybe I think that “Doctor” will look good on my tombstone ....

Anyway, stay warm up there. We just crossed that magic Fall date and I expect it will get a hell of a lot colder up there than it does here.

Later,

Len (aks STS)

Hello John! I hope all is well with you. I just had a coworker leave us and move to Alaska to teach school. I'm not sure where in Alaska but she was excited about the move. Keep in touch.

Yokonjohn--that is a beautiful pic and I'm sure it's there in AK. I got this info from the local paper there miner's news... I also while researching found a site that had the alerts for alaska. It had you guys elevated. That shows also that she can keep her secrets for national defense.

Hey John. I have lived in Moore County, Southern Pines since I retired from education. I have lived here two times, the first was when I was principal at a high school a county down the road.

Pretty good place. I live close to downtown historical SP. Not far from the Weymouth Center. Jack sent me an email in regard to you being from here. Have a great one.

You need to set a certain time you and the family can be in that cam shot and wave to us. We could key it on and see you. I check it out quite often.

John, this thought came to me this morning about Palin. I've read plenty from Alaskans about Palin. Her performance in interviews on tv, nationally, has left folks thinking she's less than 'sharp'. Yet, from Alaskans, the perception is the opposite.

The 'deer in the headlights' analogy MAY actually be true here (bear with me).

I think her stumbling performances in tv interviews is NOT because of any mental deficiencies. My thought is that she's simply 'star struck'.

Think about it a moment. Going from a 'local' celebrity to 'national' celebrity literally overnight.

Now she finds herself interviewed by the 'stars' of tv news.

Putting myself in her postition, I'd be thinking, "OMG!! I'm talking to Katie Couric!! (or whomever)"

THAT, I think is her problem at the moment. Maybe she'll finally get over it tonight and we can see the Palin that Alaskans know.

Peace

well......... I guess now is a good time before there is TOO much snow and my luck get snowed in.

So, cruise time?

Emerson, Lake and Palmer. Now, that was a band. Saw them in the 70s in Pittsburgh. Carl Palmer was on a floating drum riser and it spun around as he played. Ohhh...flashback. cool.

Thanks my friend, I appreciate it!

John, were you talking about my Allman Brother's blog? If one of your comments was deleted from mine it wasn't me, I still see a couple of your comments on my blog. Sorry that happened to you though. I still catch a 4:20 every now and again{;o)

Oh yeah, I've cut out all that stuff too, but I still enjoy the reminiscing, or are they really flashbacks? One time on windowpane I came across this huge green snake in my folk's backyard, and I must have stood frozen for 3 hours until it turned into a harmless garden hose. That was a close one, because it was coiled up all ready to strike!

Thanks for the info. It's pretty clear where Alaska's coastal waters are (at least relative to other US states). I could see some major pizzin contests between states on the Atlantic coast as to exactly whose waters a rig is in if it's anywhere near a border.

yokon- why don't you think independents can get more support out of this country, knowing how the two present parties have been slowly flushing us down the sewer. Is it they don't have enough money to really push their ideas or what

Yukon, yes, even though I am trying to live off the land nowadays without government intervention, doesn't mean I am against her. I appreciate you working for her, and many moons ago, I did as well.

Since I returned from the war, trying to do my part for this country, she has failed to be there for me when I needed her. You see, I am no longer able to hold a job because of injuries sustained, and the government has denied me my disability benefits that I have paid into all these years.

So, I am just pushing her aside, and trying to live my life off of the land as much as possible without being a burden to the economy or anyone else. I have 10 acres that can provide me with everything I need, not want, but need. We are living comfortablly, and without near the stress of what used to be.

I am not mad, letdown a little maybe and hurt, because of the others I see benefitting from the programs I should be allowed to use that are not even citizens.

But, I am a survivor! Take care

Huggs To You!...

Hey John, Awesome Pixs.....Thanx for the Offer... Sadly...I would Freeze to Death.... lol....Ya know...dang...Its cold there..

2 degrees....Send me a PostCard...lol....jeeshh...

Thanx, John...

Keep In Touch! Have a Great Weekend..

And I am NOT a productive member of society. I am a lawyer. ;)

Don't know if you heard, but I quit my job and went off on my own. Haven't had this much time off in 25 years.

As for the drug thing, consider this: I would be willing to be that 95% of the addicts in this country do not get offered or have access to rehab until they are caught. Most of them fail at rehab. But I've seen enough succeed to think it is worth the effort. If nothing else, I don't want them out on the streets driving the same highways as my family.

John - under Terry vs Ohio:

An officer is justified in conducting a carefully limited search of persons whom he reasonably suspects to be dangerous in order to discover any weapons which might be used to assault him or other nearby, even in the absence of probable cause for arrest. Any weapons seized may be introduced in evidence.

The young man was lawfully searched under this ruling. This is the ruling which give LEO's thier authority to intrude on 4th Amend rights. The key wording is the officer does NOT need probable cause. All he needs is to "feel" someone may be armed and the search is on. The reason he used - drug para was found and the supreme court has already ruled that drugs and weapons go hand in hand. I would consider another attorneys consult if I were you or try to come to an amicable agreement with the school. Was this AST, Fairbanks or Anchorage???

John - To expand a little on Terry vs Ohio...

A "terry" frisk is a brief pat-down of the outer clothing; ie; the carefully limited search. If during the frisk, the officer feels something he may remove it and verify it under what is called "plain feel." Going into the pockets is a little more intrusive and would require the plain feel requirement absent probable cause. Of course, when a subject is arrested the intrusion is no longer limited as the search is conducted incident to arrest. These are supreme court rulings and not state ones.

Hey, John, hope you're doing well. I haven't been around in a long time and just wanted to drop in and say hello. Alaska has certainly been in the spotlight lately!

Thanks for the link..SNOW, I can't believe it!!! Bundle up and take care. :)

Hey John,

Nothin's gonna stop me but divine intervention!

Hey John, what's up? I just saw your blog from yesterday and commented. Hope all is well in Alaska! Off to the beach tomorrow and got lucky, looks like it will be warming up for a few days... Take care!

Hi Yukon. I honestly don't think the military will lose in this election, especially if Obama wins. His administration, if he wins, might well be a train wreck, but we're already in the middle of a train wreck.

Talk to you later...

John...you are a wise man. Several people at golo who have my primary email address (jaymullins2@hotmail.com), forwarded the negative blog to me. All feedback I have received was positive. Sadly, this ex #1, is a bitter, angry, obese, and mean spirited person. I doubt I will ever confront her about it, but it is very useful information. I trusted her with my golo account while I laid in ICU for a week after my neck surgery. That says it all. And yes, I have changed passwords ! You are a true friend.

Yokon-the answer to your question about concealed pistol is this. It happened to my son. he carried a pistol in his locked glove box becasue he worked nights and never knew when he may break down. he was stopped for speeding and as soon as the officer came to the car son told cop he had a pistol in locked glove box. The officer thanked him told him to unlock the glove box and step out of the car. He was handcuffed and then the officer took the gun. The officer wrote him the speeding ticket and a concealed weapon charge, took he gun as evidence. When court came my son had a lawyer. He paid a donation to the NCHP fund and the charges were all dismissed. The officer told my son that when the car is on the public higway that he needed to remove the gun from the locked glove box and lay it on the seat. Then he would not be charged for a concealed weapon. I think this is stupid. If the cop had seen a gun on the seat he'd probably shot him. Don't hide the gun or its' concealed.

BTW- I see your snow is melting agian. Won't be long before you get anoother batch I bet. Tell me if this is true about sarah if you know.

Before one might dismiss the fact that Sarah Palin is Commander of the Alaska National Guard consider this.

Alaska is the first line of defense in our missile interceptor defense system. The 49th Missile Defense Battalion of the Alaska National Guard is the unit that protects the entire nation from ballistic missile attacks. It’s on permanent active duty, unlike other Guard units.

As governor of Alaska, Palin is briefed on highly classified military issues, homeland security, and counter terrorism. Her exposure to classified material may rival even Biden's and certainly by far exceeds Obama's.

She's also the commander in chief of the Alaska State Defense Force (ASDF), a federally recognized militia incorporated into Homeland Security's counter terrorism plans. Palin is privy to military and intelligence secrets that are vital to the entire c

If I saw the amount of snow that you do, I would probably never eat the dayum stuff! LOL

thanks, john! take care and stay warm in that snowy weather!

WOOHOO!!! 1000! Party time! LOL

It would be a pleasure to meet you my dear! Get your hiney down here and let this old lady give you a bear hug!!!!!!!

I was reading a book recently where a journalist ran part of a sled race (not the Iditerod). They mentioned that even in that part of the country, you still need a cooler for your beer. Only it's to keep it from freezing. Now THAT is cold!

Had a good weekend...lots of football here though my team did loose...other teams I cheered on won...so not to bad *LOL* I can't get over the fact you are already getting snow. I just so enjoy your updates and interested in Alaska...my Aunt and Uncle live in Kenya...he has worked on the pipeline since I was so young (3 or 4 years old)

So what is new your way??? How was your Summer??? Did you get any planting done???

Hiiiiiiiiiiii John !!

Morning Yukon, hope you have a dandy day up there!

Yukon, I don't even remember what I said. I do remember that what I read seemed arrogant. I think I was more or less commenting on the fact that you seemed arrogant. As if you can walk right up to her and give her a good azz chewing just because you don't like how she is acting or what she is saying. I still believe that if your not careful you will be labeled as a loon, and want get 10 feet in front of her. Thats all.

Sorry "want get 10ft in front of her...) should be won't get 10 ft. in front of her.

Yukon, I don't understand what you are saying. Most Americans had never heard of her until she was picked as McCain's running mate. Then a lot of Americans began to read about her, listen to her; we like what we read and what she had to say. She was fresh and uncorrupted. She felt the same way many Americans feel today, yet she had done something about it. Fought against it. Then you come here slamming her, and saying you're going give her the what for when she comes back to Alaska, just seems ridiculus.

Yukon, you've only succeeded in convincing me that Texas is truly the best state of all.

You come across to me as a spineless, yellow-bellied, pot-smoking liberal.
