HI John - thank you for the post about my MIL. Hubby is holding up well. He has 3 siblings and they are a comfort to each other right now.

I love your profile pic. I hope to see Alaska someday.

I'll share OUR forecast for today... that high temp - it's just plain WRONG for December!

Willard, NC

Today's Forecast: Sunday, 28 Dec 2008 High 77°F Low 53°F Sky Conditions: AM Clouds/PM Sun Sunrise: 7:18 am Sunset: 5:09 pm Wind: SSW (205°) @ 16Mph (25Km, 13Kts) Precipitation Probability: 10%

Terri (who can put on enough clothes to stay warm, but can't take off enough to stay cool, and still be socially acceptable!)

Back at you my friend. Get the woodstove kicking and crawl under the feather ticks ( got any of them up there)with the little lady and you'll stay warm. rest when you can I am up around 400 this am so I know the feeling. I do feel more rested than I have for a while though. hope the family stays safe and warm.

LOL... I don't WANT that kind of nice day! I want it chilly enough to light the propane heater and huddle up as we watch ballgames in our shop building! Plus, the dog has decided that lying directly in front of the fire is nice. When the thermostat cuts it back to pilot, she moves until the fire comes back on.

Your weather reminds me of my friend in Vermont... with their almost constant wind, they get very, very cold. I've heard quite a few stories of what those kinds of temperatures can do to you from him.

Hope you have a nice fire kind of day!

Terri

Morning there, Frosty one! I like my cold weather, but yours sounds like absolute extremes. Bundle up and have a great day!

Terri

maybe next time you come down we will go out for a cold one!

yep it was her name now that you mentioned it and it was the big race. Wow that's rough that the C got to her. They had the program on yesterday I watched which showed how they started racing from Nome to bring in the serum for the natives back in 1925 I think it was. That was interesting too to see how they used the dogs to save lives.

Happy New Year!

40 below?!? You're a brave man. */sliding a little hot chocolate your way/*

Happy New Year, John! :)

Morning... seen that mercury rise above zero yet? We're closing in on 55' as of 10:15 am. Tonight and tomorrow are supposed to be a different story... sounds like ballgame/heater/beer/cigar weather to me.

If I'm not back around, may you & yours have a Happy New Year. Be safe & happy in '09 - and call it practice for coming years!

Terri

Well, I was 18,19, 20. I loved the snow. I managed to never get stuck.

But sitting on a missle silo, bored to tears and counting antelope or deer, that was boring as heck.

I had a captain on a targeting team one time, take my M-16 and shoot a deer. He and the Lt. field dressed it, put it in a huge plastic bag, tossed it into the back of that old International pickup, and on the way back in dropped it by the captain's house. I got some choice cuts in exchange for letting him use my weapon and keeping my mouth shut.

He even had a cleaning kit and spare rounds. Doing that could have gotten all of us an Article 15. Especially me, because I was to let NO one touch my weapon. lol

Thank you, wishing you a Happy New Year!!!! hoe you are staying warm and having a good day.

Hiya John. I will be staying in as well unless something last minute comes up. But I am not expecting it. Will just be a quiet nite here with my boys. Them sleeping and maybe me on here. Boring but safe.

Good morning John. I hope and pray that 2009 will be good to everyone. I only had one whiskey sour last night, and I don't feel the need to wake up the first day of the new year with a dang hangover. Been there, done that in my younger years. Stay warm up there, and may you have a very prosperous new year!!

Ohhh John. You are sweet talking me. I love it. Hope you have a wonderful new year and that all your dreams come true. (((((warm Hugs)))))

Happy '09, John!!

Morning, John! Twenty-one degrees here just shy of 0700... a heatwave, compared to there. Hope you have a most excellent week!

Terri

My day is going great and if you keep calling me beautiful... I might have to move to Alaska. LOL stay warm

My day is going great. I have finally gotten off my can and cleaned the floors in my living room, kitchen and utility room. Just taking a break before doing the bathroom floors. I have been a lazy bug lately. Winter does that to me. Rather be in the covers hibernating. Have a good nap.

Hey John. My day is going pretty good so far. I've got a lot of chores to do today, and I had better get busy. Yes, stoke the stove and keep warm!! Have a good day!!

Stopping by for some evening (((hugs))). Hope ya don't mind.

Yukon,

Thanks for the reply. It’s a question that had come to mind from time-to-time when the temperature around here drops to below about +40 ....

I gather from your response that if you could get it higher in the air, it might freeze before it hits the ground ....

Well, maybe when I was younger ....

Take care up there and stay warm ....

STS (aka Len)

Well John at 50 below the closer the better. ((((hugs)))) of course a hug ain't worth very much if it ain't a close one. ;)

hope you have a great week! *HUGS*

It will just make them more hungry next time. It is good to be humbled early on. LOL

"I would never guess your situation in life, but to say that nothing that the current administration had affected your life in any way seems greatly naive to me."

Perhaps you could provide specific examples for me since I am naive. Or is Bush tapping your ISP?

Yeah me too. That was my Alaska wild hair money. LOL

The really bad part was that my realtor was a BIG girl and almost squished the life out of me.

You got me giggling down here. That is funny. Hee hee.

Just so you know, I think I will be smiling about my wild hair comment and your reaction to it for a long time. ;)

Ohhhh Nasty 68 below. That is just unreal. Who are these nitwits that are talking about global warming. I am shivering thinking about that. Warm (((hugs))) for you and hoping you keep warm so that nothing important freezes off. ;)

Hey John! How are you? I worry about you up there in the cold. You know, in Moore Co. right now it's a balmy (but rainy) 47....How long have you been up there in the winter?

Happy New Year John!

YukonJohn:

You are so right! I get tired of seeing the racism poking it's head in on things. I deal with it daily when people see my husband and I together. People gawk and make rude comments sometimes. It's crazy, but we laugh at their ignorance and keep it moving.

P.S. If you have some snow, please send it to Raleigh. I really need about 5 free days off from work with pay!!! Mocha and I get paid when we are out of work beyond our control!

no hard feelings on the blog reporting thing. It was done out of fun and I actually like fab and idont- (they might say it, but they feel the same). have a good one. GT

I'm sorry to say we were not able to go this year, Kenneth just emailed me the pics....wish I was there.

If you say so.

One of the three reasons why I left New England was the snow/cold.

So I beg to differ : p

*jumping up and down*

That sounds like wonderful news!!! I hope and pray it heads this way. We haven't had a good snow in a few years. I always pray that everyone is safe, harm and have enough to eat when we have storms like that. I know some people may still have to go to work no matter what, so I pray harder for those people.

THANKS! I'm going to check into it. My boyfriend is a copy down that way so I'm gonna see what info he can get for me.

A stack of hundreds would be nice. Hope your day is going wonderfully.

Many of the comments were completely out of hand. Never apologize for giving a heads up. Thanks Yukon. -Angela

wassup? want me to fedex about a 1/4 cord up to ya? i have a nice stack of red oak, along with some cherry and hickory, stacked in the yard.

"The main issue I have with Geo. Bush is the war in Iraq. Also, out of control spending comes into play."

You have never seen me on goLO defending Bush.

He sets my teeth on edge everytime he refers to our "democracy".

Democracy is the road to socialism - Karl Marx

I appreciate your service as I have served myself. As a matter of fact when I was in the Army, our capstone mission was to provide engineering support to the Iraqis.

My how times have changed...

Buddy, 10 pm here. I saw your comment earlier about how many bars are close to you...what else is there to do in the winter there? Snuggle and try to stay warm. I'm always here for you.

His out of control spending has even the Republicans freaking out. This is the only reason that so many oppose him. He ended up spending like a drunken sailor in his last term./endquote

The only beef I have with the guy is the above line. I think he's a just, well intentioned, honorable man. I can't say I feel the same about his replacement. My issue with the war is that wasn't decisive enough.

"Take off, nuke em from orbit. It's the only way to be sure..." Corporal Hicks

But, I think Bush was wrong on a laundry list of things.

Oh you are so sweet. You keep calling me beautiful I might just get warm enough to come to Alaska. :::smiling:::

Hope you are having a wonderful day up there. Even if it is colder than a witches........in a brass bra. LOL

Thank you. The tats are a personal kind of thing and if you met me, you would never guess. Just goes to show eh? I was born and raised in Knightdale/Wendell which is northern Wake Co!

Hey John, I'm doing good. I wanted to come meet you and the guys while you were here but I had the absolute worst head cold I've ever had in my whole life. Felt like somebody stuffed my head with poweder and set it off. I was laid up for almost two weeks. Since then I've been good. Too wet and windy to ride the HOG lately but this weekend is looking pretty good. Keep warm.

Good morning John.

This is a new golo'er, and his blog isn't showing up in the long list, but he wanted others to read it.
