Ten years ago, the most exciting thing about NASCAR was the racing. Now the most exciting news is what new sponsors have signed up. We're talking about "franchises" now, and instead of Ford versus Chevy, we have the "Clone of TheNextCar".
Drivers whining because somebody bumped them. Owners whining because they might have to actually try to qualify. Mega-buck teams whining because they can only have 4 teams.
It's not racing anymore - it's Choreographed Product Placement, a glorified version of the North Myrtle Beach Grand Prix. The France boys are rich - they don't care any more. Scratch the races at Rockingham and North Wilkesboro - we can get more money by competing out west where they don't have a clue about what made this a real sport. We almost Darlington, too, it's down to one race now.
