The Kid's Point of View:
RESPECT is not something that can be mandated; it is not something that can be bought. Respect is something that an individual must earn through his or her own actions. All of the intimidation, legislation, or any other forceful actions that may be utilized, will not result in true respect.
And when those who are honored through "force" turn their backs, they will find daggers in the eyes of even those believed to have been their closest friends.

Our leaves are starting to turn color big time and they're just beautiful, especially the maples. If I had any ambition, I'd go rake some to add to the compost pile. There's a three foot tall tomato plant growing in it. With the time change this weekend, though, I doubt it will live to produce anything. We've still got a few tomatoes and peppers going. BF made up a batch of sausage and peppers last weekend, throwing in some jalapenos, habaneros and cayenne peppers - said it was GOOOOD. The broccoli are OK and the chives are really tall.
I hate seeing the time change! Though it will be nice not to have to get up in the dark. I've been going to morning Job Seeker Networking events in the area and it's dark when I leave home (7:15 - 7:30am).

LOL--How well I remember those days. you couldn't tell me anything back then either. Thank you for your kind words. It's getting harder and harder to hold a civil tongue on this "community site". I love the picture of your dog. It looks like it's in a world of love in that picture. I so still miss my black lab and april will be 7 years since I lost her loyal love.

I would suggest the good ole' "Consumer Reports" organization and pay careful attention to warranty and service. As I indicated, many of these units are installed on exterior wall of the house. The supply line that feeds cold water in to the unit is where we faced most of our problems, not with the heater itself.
Consumer reports can provide much better info regarding cost, efficiency and overall customer satisfaction than I can...
They will be expensive, and if the reason for getting one has to do with the length of time it takes for hot water to reach a certain bathroom, then there are cheaper alternatives.
A recirculation pump is the first one that comes to mind.
Many conventional hot water heaters have digital controls and multiple settings. I am uncertain your real interest in these "tankless" systems but regardless, feel free to ask any ???'s

Sometimes the "short" heaters designed for a crawlspace can cost more than their counterpart of greater capacity.
If she is willing to spend the money, then off course one of these would solve her space problem and not have to deal with the heater being under the house.
Just consider the supply lines which bring cold water to the unit. It is extremely important that these are protected from freezing. If she plans to install this unit inside the house along the inside of an exterior wall, she should be okay.
Tell her to contact a company called "Yellow Dot Heating and Air" if she lives anywhere near the triangle. They are well reputed and I have had them do several things to the houses I own.
Also, I would recommend she do some homework on the manufacture of whatever she decides. The internet is a wealth of info regarding peoples actual experiences.

And when I say all, I mean ALL. LOL....
I purchased countless pieces of Bassett's "Grove Park" collection in 2000, which includes pieces for living, dining, and bedrooms.
I was going to do an Ebay Auction of ALL of it, to include my leather sofa, loveseat, and recliners. Just haven't done that yet...
Not certain just which way to approach this yet...but one thing is certain....I am done collecting any sort of stuff....and would just as soon see my possession reduced down to my shop, and a box full of clothes....

Terri"
I'm glad I did as well. I work in the roofing business and I can tell tyou that there's many older people that are willing to waste every last dime on drugs the day they get paid.
I lent my truck to a co-workers one day only to come home to see them on the news getting arrested for buying crack on a corner in a sting operation. The guys I knew told me the guy that got arrested righ t after them was in his 60's, driving a luxury car and an executive for Martin Marrietta with White House clearance. Many others that were arrested that day that you would never suspect of being crackheads including my co-workers.

Being near the coast your biggest concern would be rust or the paint peeling. Many manufacturers paint-finish warranties aren't worth the paper it's printed on so look at that closely. Much of that also has to do with the type of metal you buy. Galvanized is probably the cheapest but will rust faster, galva-lum (galvanized & aluminum mix)used to be very popular because it was relatively inexpensive and holds up good. Of course copper is extremely expensive but will last forever and is beautiful. My company sells metal but I'm sure we're more expensive than our competitors in the residential but I'll find out what kind of metal is both cost friendly and durable.
