Kidw4legs, I was catching up reading the weekend blogs and found that your birthday is St. Patrick's Day. That's my birthday, too! Are you 39? lol

BTW, I'm Susan

Yes, I cut the main trunks off about 5-5.5 feet off the ground, leave no shoots large or small (cut just below "v's"). Myrtles will come back beautifully, I do this about every two yrs or so. Now is the time to cut them.

ps. also trim any shoots coming from ground level, even if they have a little size to them.

Hey Kid, I don't have a solution on the root sprouts. I just prune them about every time I see them. I have put tree fertilizer (the little pegs) around once or twice over the years, this seems to have helped. They all produced new growth of about 7 to 8 feet one year, I was amazed. If you do this pls let me know how it goes, thanks.

LOL..I got a very cute email about easter with a ton of differ pics that I thought was worthy sharing..LOL. I am going home on Friday actually. My moms birthday was last Thursday but I had to work. I work two jobs so this Friday is the only day I have off since I am working the Easter weekend. We are going to take a drive to Greenville. When I was taking my mom to the hospital there we discovered a Mayflower and my mom loves that place. Everytime she comes to Raleigh I take her. So now that we found one almost near Wallace we are going to take a drive and I will hang out down there for a while. It should be fun. My brother is excited. What do you have planned for Easter? I have noticed you werent on as much, I just thought you were taking a GOLO break. Sometimes it is needed in order to maintain sanity in this place..LOL

http://heavens-gates.com/fifties/petercottontail.html

Ziploc bags for the dog...R U kidding!!! I go to Golden Corral and I take ziploc bags for ME!!! I go in weighing 100 lbs and come out weighing 200. I have ziploc bags all in my shoes, drawers, under my arms...everywhere I can hold food. lol...we have got to go to a buffet one day together....lets see who can pack the most food.

Good Morning! My entire family has been doing all of our "chicken business" with Murray McMurray Co. for many many years.... http://www.mcmurrayhatchery.com/ . We have all, always had the best luck with them. Their chicks are very affordable, and healthy. You can call 1-800-456-3280, and ask for a catolog, or go to their website .. http://www.mcmurrayhatchery.com/index.html . And order online. They mail, yes mail the little live chicks to your doorstep. Always very healthy. They also sell other chicken supplies, but I buy most of our supplies (feed, waterers)from southern states, or any farm supply store.

Hi, Terri--

Haven't been down your way in a while--used to work for Ezzell Trucking, so roamed the area a bit back then. Big Blue has always been a fave---actually, I buy most of my pants from there, because they're so reasonable. One of those places you can spend a couple of hours just wandering.

I sporadically get in the fray here--if I am working, don't have the time, and work occupies my mind. If I am not working, then I use the discussions to keep my mind working. I'm medically disabled, and work from my apartment on the phone and computer, but, between projects right now. Leading up to the election opens it up considerably, but I should be starting something in Sept., and will be moving the first of October to Coats--my lady friend and I are getting under one roof.

Seeya around.

Keith

Hi, Terri-

Ron's is good--Joy used to work there, when we first started seeing each other.

I can see $15K at Big Blue, especially if you like lawn and garden stuff, power tools, and livestock supplies. Many folks can't begin Saturday without a visit to Big Blue. When I was a homeowner, I was same way, for a while.

I use Avast for anti-virus---good, efficient and free program! It stops things dead, gives you the warning signs and signals, so computer is fine.

seeya!

Keith

You are absolutely correct. The South for the most part is still a good place to live and African-Americans are moving back to the South in droves. The majority of your African-Americans live in the Southeast which comprises the states of Maryland to Florida. Blacks and Whites and Hispanics get along much better in the cities and towns in the South than up North. As far as your friends' attitudes when they come back down South, to put it in plain terms, they had issues before they left. If you are true to yourself and Jesus no matter where you live and come back to you will always be true. We will talk some more about this if you like.

I get tired of trying to explain the war to people, there are people in this country that go out of their way to undermine our efforts all because they hate Bush. It's sick. Im glad there are people like you that see this as well.

Well, Terri, imagine that. We're almost neighbors. Only go to Wallace about once a year. My granddaughter's dance recitals are held there every spring. Thanks for the blog this morning that took me strolling down memory lane. Got to thinking about games we played way back when and square nabs, 4 to a pack, oh, so many things. I usually get a little melancholy this time of year. Great to get to know you.

Hi Terri,

You were at Parker's Ferry off hwy. 158 where they had the bear. Great place, I saw them once myself. THey have a HUGE prison complex sitting there now and the bear's have been long gone as you said.

I Have been to Aulander on several Occasions. I still have an Uncle that lives in Aulander but I have never seen/heard of the light's you are talking about.

The only place in Bertie County that I am familiar with any light's of any sort of size is in Windsor, which is about 20 miles South of Aulander. They have a huge display of 350,000+ lights at this one man's home.

I love visiting the area, very surreal to visit those small places.

Oh yeah!!! The Early Station Light on the train tracks!

Yes, I have forgotten all about that!!

Interestingly Enough I met the Early family during my service in the Army. The people that live right on the railroad track's (The Earley's) all lived and farmed that area and it was basically named after their family.

The youngest son joined the army and it was such a small world meeting someone within' 20 miles or so of where I grew up. I remember when he was discharged, he married a Dr. and moved to Charlotte where he is a Police Officer now.

Small world that anyone would remember those lights! Give's me a great idea for my next motorcycle trip! I might have to get over that way and take some pictures of the tracks and of a few more places over that way.

Sausage Bawls......

1 lb. bulk sausage 1 lb. grated cheese (medium cheddar works well) 1.5 cups bisquick (or store brand biscuit mix)

Squash and knead it all together in a bowl, form in into bawls.

Place on large baking pan.

Bake at 350 for about 10 minutes, turn and bake until done, about 10-12 more minutes.

Remove from pan to paper towels for excess grease removal.

Terri, I read your blog..... had to go cook breakfast. I met Garland several years ago and we talked for quite some time. What an interesting person. He and another gentlemen that had moved to the coast chased Percy Flowers for a long time. I love those stories. It was a great blog! I love to hear the old timers talk about that stuff. I had a friend who is gone now..... but would get me a half gallon of Halifax Co. finest. It was apple or peach brandy, not mash, whatever he could get although I knew he was making it - and I know with who recently - but they are both gone now..... Tough when you lose old friends......

After the day I had the attack (Oct 07), I've never had it that bad again. Yes, I do get some weird "tweaks" at the rib cage and sometimes I feel that "gassy" pain, but it goes away pretty quick. I've not experienced that terrible pain I had since then.

Weird thing was, about a month before I had that really bad pain, my Mom had her gall bladder out; she suffered for years with nausea and all the other symptoms. Her doctor told her to have it removed, the insurance company said it would be an elective surgery...when they got the gall bladder out, it was only working at 1% of capacity and had solidified...."elective surgery"...go figure!!

Sorry, Carolina Sky Sports has closed it's doors, as of Sept. 2008. There is talk of another jump center opening at Franklin Co. Airport. That would be fantastic,I hang out there all the time. I used to jump at the old place back in the 70's. Loved it.

Luck! Yes indeed! One word: Soma.

They're the lingerie division of Chico's, in case you've never heard of them.

They have this awesome line of underwear that don't creep up, because there's some sort of silicon strips at the legs. Lovely!

And they are cute!

welcome back! Start with Anthem. It's short and you can read it here http://www.noblesoul.com/orc/texts/anthem/complete.html If you like that you can always tackle "Atlas Shrugged" (it's a monster!)

BTW - the first three chords of Melissa are not barre chords. The first chord is E, the next to are a vatiation of E going up the neck. I dont havemy guitar in front of me to tell you what they are. some of the Chords in the Chorus are barre chords. I'll sit down and figure out if it can be done in 1st position chords sometime. My fingers are getting old too, lol. Barre chords are getting hard to play on my Martin

http://tyrohne.typepad.com/genuis-loci/

big change in scenery. Come see me sometime!

Surely. Take a large box of Snyder's Hard Pretzels (ya' know, the big ones) and break up the pretzels into bite sized pieces (I put 'em in a gal. size baggie and whack 'em with a hammer...lol, I'm sure these pretzels are wonderful for your teeth!). Melt one stick of butter and add to it 1 envelope of dry onion soup mix. Mix with the pretzel pieces until they're coated. Place the pieces in a single layer on a cookie sheet. Bake at 250 degree over for one hour, turning the pieces every 15 minutes. Enjoy.

As with all my recipes, tell everyone that they're fat-free. ;)

Hey, I just went to Shoebaby's profile to say hi and got so excited I forgot to leave her a message,,I'll have to go back. J D Robb!! That is my absolute favorite series of all times. And I do mean absolute favorite. I have them all, and have reread them so MANY times. I have read some of Patricia Cornwell because some had told me if I liked the JD Robb, I'd LOVE her, but I have to tell you, Kay Scarpetti has NOTHING on Eve Dallas. I can talk that series all day. Everyone that I have ever gotten to read them by encouraging, tying down and forcing them, or just beating them about the head and neck, have become INSTANT fans.

So, let me know if you like 'em. (and if you don't, I'll just have to kill ya,,,lol)

when it's a series, I always start with the first one, so I started with her first and they were ok, but out of everything I've ever read, JD Robb's IN DEATH series is the best I've come across. I love the way she starts with Naked In Death and gives a few characters and builds with each book. Each book stands alone but the character of Eve Dallas evolves and matures with each book. It's great to watch. The storylines are good and the character development is wonderful, thoughout the series.

I like to read Catherine Coulters FBI series, Sherlock and Savich, Kay Hooper has a series out, a paranormal FBI series out, I'd have to go look that one up. Umm,, let's see,,,Iris Johansen has an Eve Duncan series that's good. Nora Roberts (who is also JD Robb, btw) has a number of good series out, I like her later words better than her ealier works. Sherrilyn Kenyon has a GREAT series, if you like something out of the ordinary. They are called the Dark Hunters

cont

There is a link to the Dark Hunters on my profile and also to JD Robb

The Dark Hunters are immortal protectors of the humans against a race of people called Daimons,,sort of vampire types. Hilarious and KICK AZZ,,,with some greek gods thrown in to keep it interesting. THEN Christine Feehan has a couple of great series out,,the best being her Carpathians,,a race of immortal vampires,,good vampires, that are becoming extinct. Those are excellent. Dark Prince is the first.

Ummmm,,,Karen Marie Moning has a Highlander Series out,,oooolaaalaaa and double dayum,,if you need a good story line and some hot hot reading but aren't looking for anything grounded in reality

THEN,,Terri Blackstock and Dee Henderson have a great Christian Fiction series out.

I can keep going,,,I LOVE to read and my favorites are series because the characters don't end when the book does

now how did he slip past me??? I love to read and will read most anything but I tend to gravitate towards fiction as my life is filled with enough drama and I want to be entertained when I read. I don't like too many tear jerkers, though they are good and I have read them, so I tend to shy away from ones like Nicholas Sparks.

If you like to be scared outta your wits,,,a wonderful christian fiction author that will keep you up nights is Frank Peretti...his This Present Darkness series will have you NOT sleeping, peering into corners.

I will have to check out this author. There are a couple of used book stores here that know me by name

I have not but I heard it was awesome. I just finished a christian fiction called "lethal injection" by an author I had never head of. It addressed euthanasia, had some drama, mystery, and spiritual warfare thrown in to keep it interesting. It wasn't bad. Sort of a medical thriller with warrior angels intervening,,,interesting take on things, I thought.

let me know what you think about the shack

did you read the JD Robb? Which one do you have?

The Amazon price for Nikon D40s fluctuates often, but right now it's $430 for the camera kit with an 18-55mm lens: http://www.amazon.com/Nikon-Digital-18-55mm-3-5-5-6G-Zoom-Nikkor/dp/B000KJQ1DG/

I've seen D40s go in the mid-upper $300s, and I think it would be a great camera for somebody who is transitioning from a point-and-shoot to an SLR. I got a D50 when they were being discontinued, and the D40 is supposedly pretty close to that (but smaller in size).

They're neat things to play around with, but they do take some time to fully understand -- I'm still learning about some features on my camera, and I've had it for almost 3 years!

I LOVED "The Shack" and agree a discussion on golo would be great--hope I'm on when you do it. I saw some reference to it before I had the chance to read it. Be sure and stay with it, it's well worth it.

My emila is awomnsptofview@yahoo.com. I am 20 minutes from Enfield. I live right off I-95 ar Exit 132. Look forward to hearing from you. Hugs, Denise

Hey, Terri...thank you for the message you left on my profile. I understand exactly where you are coming from. I had a serious scare about 5 years back. I thought something bit me and I had an allergic reaction, but it got worse fast so I went to the doc and they thought it was either a bite or a very invasive and fast moving cancer. They put me on these really strong antibiotics for about five days (which made me barf all the time, but it fixed the issue), but those were the absolute longest five days of my life. I have never been so scared. If I ever have to deal with that, take 'em both. I think it was the mental aspect that whooped me and the not knowing. I now just do what I'm supposed to - monthly bse's and annual mammos.

I sent you a friend request. :) Have a great fourth!

*hugs* Julie

Teri: I spoke with him on the way home yesterday and his mood was some better. He even cracked a joke to me! So that speaks volumes. Yes, he is heartbroken over the four lost babies, but I keep telling him they are in Heaven with the others...chasing butterflies and walking with God. I will touch base with him again today, but am letting him breathe a minute. I know the people from his church, other friends and lord knows who else are keeping him on the phone. Terri, the folks on here are amazing!!! I am so glad everyone is stepping up to the plate 'cause if anyone ever needs all of us, it is Ernie. With his mom, his brother and all his fur babies....he has his hands full. I am sure he will love hearing from you!

I received snail mail this morning! Thanks for the card and contents. Love you always, Ernie

july 22nd , tomorrow is my birthday so i have to have something to celebrate over.Sorry bout that.

He said" come here, and let the LOVE that is Jesus Christ fill you up. Now I have to tell you that at that moment I was 34 years old and had NEVER shed a tear in my life. But as I walked up to that alter a lifetime of tears came out. I fell to my knees and as Tark prayed with me, I felt my self filling up...some call it the Holy Spirit. Ive never been the same since that day. I am a member of that church to this day, and I'm still married to that cute little girl with the pigtails and the gentle soul, 32 years and shooting for 50. So....some of the mean ones MIGHT be empty inside..........

KID the price of the judges are around 479.95 and up, Depending on the variation you are looking for. Now as for your uncle.....I know where there is a pristine as new condition H&R model 999 sportsman for sale....$400.00 firm....private sale.

Even if it was not a private sale....there is no such thing as a national, nor an NC gunregistry. All NICS back ground checks tell the FBI, is that you are buying "A" gun. They dont ask, make, model, or serial #, and that info never leaves the shop. Now...the other thing of intrest. It is perfectly LEGAL to give a gift of a firearm. !!!

"Doug, thanks for posting the blog with link to "The thunk, the gap, and the six a's". That is a sermon that should be widely disseminated"

No problem Terri. I constantly question the motives and thought processes of those who call themselves Christians. There are many hippocrates in that religion, as there are in any religion or other group of people.

But when someone makes valid, intelligent points, I listen. No matter who they are! I wrote in my note to Day1 that the church which I believe Rev Sargent has in mind would once again raise it to an organization to be admired rather than derided as so many in the world do today.

"I wouldn't spit on Edwards if I was choking on water and he was on fire"

ROFL...is Salty Rover still doing the quote of the day blogs? This needs to be the winner for today. :)

MY name is Jerry, but you can also call Jonathan....at The "Huntin' Hole" @ 919-776-0940, for any gun related questions...

Terri,

I am proud to say that I have NEVER used any kind of insecticide on my plants. (The whole "garden" consists of about a dozen large containers.) There really hasn't been a need for it, except for that tomato worm thing. If I had to, I would have resorted to spraying soapy water on the leaves. Maybe the advantage is planting by the moon? Or else, I'm just plain lucky!

Kinda chilly today, huh?? I had to turn on the ceiling fan yesterday while at the computer because it was so humid, and today I'm about to turn it off. Same with the rest of the house. I DON'T want to even think about fall. Although, cooler weather and/or less humidity would feel good now.

I see where Rocknhorse may have a get-together at her newly-renovated house once they've settled in. I think she's in Benson? Is it possible that you could come to town?

Susan

Terri: Not a peep out of him since last we spoke. He said there were a few hold-ups because the modular had to fit the size of the lot. As you know, modifications take time....and money. Hopefully we will hear this week. How are you doing, friend? Hope all is well in your world. I have company, so I will check back tomorrow. YYFN!

Terri, thank for your kind words on the in interview. That means a lot, coming from someone I respect - like you!

Hey Terri!

I'm waiting for the gas utility guy to come light our pilot. I'm dressed in sweatpants, socks, two sweaters, a dickie and a toboggan. Temperature in the house is 60 degrees. YES it's Chilly!! Hurry up, gas man!

Thanks Terri, he doing well so far, praise the Lord!! Mrs Hal & I are doing fine...we're gonna make it down to ILM for Thanksgiving wknd. Our new DNL is so excited, she wants to do dinner for the whole family.....there will be a crowd but it'll be great!!! Prob have about 14 people in all, I think.

Thank you very much thinking about Dickey....that was extreamly considerate!!!!

Take care!!

Good Morning, thank you for your encouraging words about my mom.She is not making a lot of progress at this time, she has made a little it s just being slow she is working so hard with thearpy and has a lot of faith and will power to get better. She is happy and enjoying all the attention she is getting from her family lol .We are making it as comfortable and plesant for her as we possiably can and giving her a lot encourgment.I know if it is God's will she will be able to walk again and get better.I'm just putting my faith and trust in God that his will will be done.Hope you are doing good and that you are having a good week.Hope you can get ot nd enjoy this beautiful day we are suppose to have.

Thank you very much Terri, I don't know that I'm related to this gentleman but strangely enough, his obituary read a lot like my father's. Daddy was almost everything this man was except dad only served in WWII....my dad would have been 87 now.

Sending one now...

Hey,just stopping by to say hello.Hope your day has been a good one even though a little bit cool out side.Wishing you a very good week.
