The Kid's Point of View:

RESPECT is not something that can be mandated; it is not something that can be bought. Respect is something that an individual must earn through his or her own actions. All of the intimidation, legislation, or any other forceful actions that may be utilized, will not result in true respect.

And when those who are honored through "force" turn their backs, they will find daggers in the eyes of even those believed to have been their closest friends.

Good morning, happy Friday to you. I have family in Maple Hill, Burgaw and Wallace..I am from there. Small world isnt it. How are you feeling this morning?

I understand your frustration with the religion. I had the same discussion with some people a few years back. I asked if the pygmy tribe in the middle of the jungle who had no exposure to Christ could get into heaven. I was told no, because first, it was God's choice that these people were never exposed, and two, there are missionaries everywhere, so they would've heard of Him. They asked if I knew if I was going to heaven. I said no, my life isn't over yet. I could still screw up somewhere down the road. They thought it was sad and said they knew they were going to heaven. Personally, I thought it was a bold statement. I asked if they'd still go to heaven if they ax-murdered their family. They said they would, be Jesus would forgive them. I have issues with that. Good luck and I'm sorry to hear about your friend.

I know what you mean about some views on "how to get to heaven". I do not believe that you have to be "exposed" to church or God to get there. Children & "special needs" adults & children are just a couple of examples. God would never turn someone away that doesn't even realize what it's all about. They are incapable of sin. I, too have experienced the hypocrisy of the congregation. I have left 2 churches because of it. I do not push my religion on anyone. But I do witness and testify. Not to the point of being a "Jesus Freak", but just to share my blessings. If not for the witnessing by a great friend of mine, I would still be sitting @ home being bitter and angry. I, however, do not agree with the separation of races in churches. What difference does it make if you are all there for the same spiritual fulfillment? As far as a another human being judging whether or not a person goes to heaven - NOT! I left one of the churches because of this.

Thank you so much for your wonderful and encouraging post you left on my page. It meant a lot. I am going to spend this time with my mother as if it there was no tomorrow. My dad died on 12/16/2000..It was a horrible day for me. So I have been regrieving the loss of my dad and dealing with other things but today is a better day, a new day and I am thinking of positive things and hoping for the best. Thanks again for your warm thoughts. I hope you had a great weekend and wonderful day!

Hey, I have several Martins. I also have and Alvarez Yarii, among others. My uncle had a Hummingbird. It depends on what kind of music you are playing. They are all good. I don't prefer the Gibson if you are playing Bluegrass but it is a great guitar. Ovation is nice - but there are alot of out there that play great. My sister plays a Takenime (don't know if I spelled that correctly). I don't really know what to tell you - I guess it just depends on how much money you want to invest. I know that is a cheap answer... but if you have an idea of what you want to invest I might be able to help better. There are a bunch of guitars out there now that sound and play great! You don't have to go with the $$$$$ ones - I played around on a Fender Stratocaster look alike..... $199.00 remake and it sounded just like a fender and looked like one also. What kind of music do you like to play? I think that is the most important thing when matching up the instrument.

Where is Willard? My sister just bought an Alvarez ( small body - something she could "carry on". She travels to some places with her church. It was I think about $200.00 or so and I played it - good guitar. The ovations - especially if you could find a used one ( plastic back ) have a very narrow neck and close action. Some of the models have pre amps and the built in tuners. They have a great overall sound. Taylor makes a nice guitar but they get up in price like a Martin and some of the others. I have played Yamahas and Washburns that played well also... Some of the thin bodied Alverez , Fenders, etc. ( acoustics ) play really well with good sound and action. I would definitly get one with a pre amp on it though - or a pickup so you can get a small pignose or crate amp and turn it up sometimes.... You don't have to use it - it is just nice to have. There is a big music store outside of Washington NC - although I have never been in it - my sister does business there. continued.

If you are not playing out somewhere - you might want to try the nickel wound strings for acoustics. Buy the lights or extra lights... they are a bit easier on your fingers than the bronze.

I am originally from Tarboro but live close to Scotland Neck and that is where I shop frequently ( groceries. ect.)

Try those strings out and see what you think ... I have got Willard in my mind now - just not a town you hear of everyday. I have traveled all over NC and thought I knew them all.... you got me on that one.

Hi Terri! I hope you are having a fantastic morning and weekend!! We are having a great one here. It is only 45 below this morning. Cold, but warmer than it has been!! I am the other guy in the pic. That is my buddy who is our aircraft fueler on the guitar. He is an incredible guitarist. He plays several and the mandolin and banjo as well. He is quite accomplished. He lives in McCall Idaho and Galena Alaska in the summers. Take care and have a great day!!

Ya know, it's not often we would get a positive letter from someone after writing them a ticket. I think that it's pretty neat that you did that, even though the circumstances might not have been so great. That is rare, and I'm sure he DID get it. I have always received a copy of the letters that people have written about their experience with me, both good and bad. Thank you for sharing your experience. I have run into little positive things with people that make the job worth while. No matter where you work, there are bad apples. I can tell you that the people I work with on the Patrol are the most professional I have seen, and I trust my life to them. Thank you again.
