Your garden is incredible, headlong. Just curious about your cucumbers -- how do you plant them? Do you plant them and let them spread out as a ground-drifting vine? This year, we tried what a friend of the family did last year: we planted the cucumber vine, but we staked it up like a tomato plant.
We've gotten 6-7 bug cucumbers off of it already, too! The only difference I notice is that they are shaped almost like teardrops. Fat at the bottom and skinny near the top, I guess from gravity pulling the new growth to the bottom.
Ever tried caging your cucumbers before?

I can say that about #1. #2 I am not so sure of. He's only been there a year, and he's been arrested once for breaking curfew (Dad gets father of the year, I guess), dropped out of varsity track, grades are falling, and had pretty much removed himself from this side of the family. He will now only speak to #3, and won't speak to me, hubby, or step-sister at all. (Our last names are wrong.) I have to believe that when he comes out of this rebellious stage that he will remember that he did have some home training on this end.

I saw your comment about the books. If/when they decide to do this, please, PLEASE let me know. I've got boxes of books packed up and was scratching my head the other day wondering what to do with them. I'm donating some to CRH in Butner, but that still leaves a bunch. If and when they decide to do a Blog for Hope function and do book donations, keep me in the loop. We can take them together, or one of us could take them if the other isn't able to that day.

I need some help and Brat said you are the one that can offer advice since you're our garden lady. I have a lot of ferns under my carport ... massive ones in large pots. So, I rescued a mother cat and two kittens and just guess where they are playing and sleeping? Yep, in the ferns. And they are getting squashed. I like the kitties but ... I love my ferns. Is there anything I can put on them to keep the kitties off of them?
