about elcid89

With all of the complaining that goes on here (some of you honestly seem incapable of doing anything else BUT complaining ...), GoLo has become depressing.

With the general trend towards the banal and inane, GoLo has become a waste of my time.

What is it about this place, which has so much promise of bringing people together to discuss ideas and learn from one another, that it brings out the worst in people instead?

You'll forgive me if I take my leave of it.

Hi,hope you are doing good today.Just wanted to stop by and say hellow and to have good weekend.May god bless you.

I thought NAFTA was something the republicans had voted for. I wanted to post something stating that, but I didn't have the facts. I am glad for your detailed and factual posts on a lot of topics.

You know, the old one is one of the last members of the Cult of Personality surrounding the soon to be departed one. I try not to get involved with him since he's got a 'friends only' profile and his few blogs are 'private'. Thus, only those he chooses can post to them. You raised valid point about the SEC. But, as Reagan once said, "Facts are stupid things". :-)

LC...re:"..."Stupid question. I'm listed as Unaffiliated for party. That means I can't vote in a primary correct?"

It means you can choose to vote in either primary, but only one or the other.".....I may be wrong, but years ago when I was more active in local politic machinery, the Republican primary was open to Independentsas well as registered Republicans, but the Democrat primary was registered Democrats only. Now, I don't now if this was county policy or if it is a state mandate. Have a good day.

Elcid89, good afternoon. We've missed your posts lately. I've been enjoying masochistic tendencies by subjecting myself today to some Neaderthalic right-wingers and suddenly a question popped into my head -- imagine that? I'm not sure how deep into Constitutional law you may be, but other than impeachment and subsequent conviction of a sitting president, does Congress have any authority to bring charges of any kind regarding one who flagrantly violates the oath of office ("I promise to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States..." etc.) Can Congress bring any kind of criminal proceedings, or must that be done by a private citizen in the federal court system? All of this assumes criminal intent -- which may be hard to prove in any venue, I guess. Got an opionion?

Thanx on the correction on the BOE policy on Independents in the NC primaries, I wasn't sure and hesitated to say anything...they memory is the first thing to fade, I think it's second or third in my case. ;) Take care. "legum servi sumus ut liberi esse possimus"

Elcid, thanks for the response to my question. I understood the limits of Congress, and just wondered about the situation after office is vacated. The article you cite is interesting in that it mentions the defendant "convicted"? I suppose the interpretation there is that if convicted in the Senate, then the person is also liable in court. It doesn't say, however, that the person MUST be convicted in the Senate. An interesting and perplexing situation. I, for one, hope this has a chance to be decided and clarified in the near future. Our House members have a shameful record so far: impeachment of one president for parsing words in a grand jury testimony and ignoring flagrant violations of Constitutional principles for another. It shouldn't be decided based on your particular party affiliation, but that's the way it has seemed to work. Thanks again.

I think that I'm the oldest one of us,

You keep saying that you are old. I do not think of you as old. I think of you as brillant.

Well, I managed to erase my post before sending it - a brilliant move! I felt Congress couldn't do much more than remove from office. It's comforting to know there is an option afterwards though. I could understand the Ford pardon "for the good of the country", but then Nixon didn't violate the spirit and letter of the Constitution by waging a pre-emptive war and warrantless wiretapping, to name only two crimes (one of which might be considered international in scope). I hope that the next president will not pardon Bush "for the good" of the country -- it seems the "good" is best served by upholding the constitution on which the laws of this country are based. I guess party affiliation trumps the law: impeach one pres. for parsing his words before a grand jury; ignore blatant violations of the law and Constitution (as well as Oath of Office) by another. I hope Congress will pursue the Bozo-in-Chief afterwards and get to the bottom of this whole sorry mess.

I repeated myself--consider it emphasis !! ;-)

Elcid what happened to the 401k blog?

"now this is funny!"

Im glad you like it. Sorry about the other blog, didn't know that about Joe. I have just seen him play. Darn good hockey player. It's a shame he not a very good person.

70? 69 never lasts as long as it should.

Thanks elcid for the information. I'm thinking that I'm going to get a VW. My old neighbor had a Passat diesel and it ran forever. The only downside that I can think of is being able to always find fuel at every corner gas station. I guess I'll just have to keep it full or at least half way at all times. Have a good day!

On the weekends alot. during the week i get home about 5:30 i let him out to use the bathroom and then he comes back in and eats and then i let him back out for about an hour maybe/ i am sure he probably gets bored, but im hoping after a couple more months he will grow out of this chewing stage.

He has a nylobone but he wont touch it but its not the one with the green center, might have to try that one. During the week is the only time he is crated he is out when i get home till about 11pm then on the weekends he is out all day b/c we are home. Thanks im ready for him to be able to stay out of the kennel even when we arent home!

Hiya Elcid. Have a great weekend.

Howdy, elcid. Hope you are having a wonderful weekend! I ran across this today in my web news surfing. Thought it may be of interest to you since it's a reply to Sally Kern.

High school senior and son of Oklahoma City bombing victim writes a letter to Rep. Kerns, who claimed that gays were more of a threat than terrorists.

I see a blog coming from you soon. :-)

ElCid, I don't know why you bother with OS anyway. Not that you should delete or block him. But, he'll open his profile for a day or two and express his views and meaningless 'debate' on fringe details in a posting. Then, like today, he 'disappears' as a GOLO member and logs in (note his name is in black letters today) as just another 'drive-by ranter' who leaves one with only one option: respond to him on the blog comments of the blog he's ranting on.

Frankly, that's nothing more than trolling by a coward. If he won't open his profle page for personal, private exchanges of views and ideas, he deserves no response at all. Hiding like that is the behavior of cowards with weak arguments in my humble opinion.

That is why when he 'goes drive-by', I don't post ANY responses to him. But, I don't delete his comments or block him either.

Just a suggestion for your consideration. :-)

♣ Happy St. Patrick's Day, Elcid! ♣

You know, one of these days the 'fringers' on here are going to realize that they are arguing with a constitutional law scholar. :-)

Here's one you may like to read.

I'm thinking of posting it later this morning. But, if you want it, it's yours. :-)

Meetings? ACK! Glad I changed professions and don't have to do that anymore. An old Traveling Wilbury's song comes to mind:

(Handle With Care)

Been stuck in airports, terrorized Sent to meetings, hypnotized Overexposed, commercialized Handle me with care

Good Tuesday morning elcid!

Have a great day my friend!

Hey El, any good blogs for me and my kraka today? :) Happy Hump day to you my kind friend!

Good morning my friend!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"See how the sarcasm that was intended in the blog went right over some peoples' heads? :-D"

I can't blame anyone for not seeing this as sarcasm, elcid. As ludicrous as many of the blogs are on golo, it's just as reasonable to assume that I was completely serious. That's the frightening thing!

"The funniest words I'll ever say.

I completely and totally agree with Elcid......"

LOL, don't feel too bad. I imagine there are more than a few people out there amazed that a 70 year old even knows who Pink Floyd is, much less listens to them. elcid89

I have a very good friend, probably my best friend who loves Floyd. He was born in '37, and gets into more things than I do! I have always loved their music, the haunting guitar, ingenious riffs, and the lyrics that tell incredible stories. David Gilmore of Floyd has gone solo, his new album is called On An Island. If you get a chance look up "Where we start" and "On an Island" on Youtube. Great songs, but knowing how you are you probably already know this. Have a good Day!

Thanks for being my friend! I like all of your posts that I have seen so far.

Thanks Elcid!!! I came back from lunch early and did some investigating on that and found that. I haven't filed yet. Was sort of putting it off, becuase this is the first year we have EVER had to pay. But I'll be sending that off this weekend. I appreciate you posting that and letting me know

"I feel the same way about U2. Beginning with "Achtung Baby," (and arguably possibly even beginning with "Joshua Tree," they just sold out & went pop."

Amen to that, Elcid! I've been saying that forever, but their newer fans just won't listen!

But I have to disagree on the Stones, unless I have my dates wrong. Exile On Main Street was arguably their masterpiece; didn't it come after SF?

sending this to all my friends...

I started a raleigh based message board and am getting rather lonely talking to myself...please drop in and say hi and become a founding member! lol! :)

I'm still learning the board- I think it has more features than I know about, so as I learn, things shall be added!

Just want to stop by and wish you a Happy Easter, in case you are with the group that gets the long weekends! I, have to work Good Friday. Be safe and have a great weekend. *quick tip, if you see a real bunny laying chocolate mini eggs... dont eat them!* lol

Never much cared for GHS, although Heartbreaker stands out. The wah-wah makes me break out my best air guitar every time.

Interesting trivia on Exile; thanks! I never knew that. Still my fave, though.

What do you think of the Beatles? I've heard many people say it has to be one or the other, but that's never rung true. I like them both, although the Fab 4 are definitely tops for me.

Would love to talk to you some time about having watched all of that music evolve during the 60s; I was born too late. :(

"One of the good things about being 70 is that no one questions you when you beat someone to death with your cane ... :-D"

Hey, I no one even questions it at 28! LoL! ;-P W have more in common than you might think... I always said I feel like I am 27 going on 72! *hehe*

I hope you and the Mrs have a wonderful weekend and a joyous Easter! Take care of yourself, my friend.

A brilliant commentary on Obama's speech about Wright. Thought you'd like to read it:

Peace, my friend

Good Monday morning to you! I hope that you had a great Easter!

I hope that everything is going well for you my friend!

i saw your post about peeps being behind bars in the religious nut case..i disagree. as a parent who was a witness explained to me..to give his son blood would be to deny the child the afterlife....i dont believe in any of this...but think about this ...if you do believe that..what is the more abusive parent...the one who allows their child to die in this life...or the one who allows their child to be denied the afterlife...now you have to look at this from a believers perspective.

do you see withholding available medical treatment as "causing" the death of the child?

i have to wonder who many children die due to being denied medical treatment by their insurance companies.

I posted a comment on the blog about the parents who refused medical treatment for their child b/c of relgious beliefs.

First, I want to say I agree with you whole-heartedly. I think there is no excuse for those actions. However, it raises a couple of questions and perhaps you (since you have a legal background) could help me answer them.

OK, elcid, I gave it a shot. http://wral.com/golo/blogpost/2642087/

Had to do a handsome heartthrob and I think they got it quicker than we got your's, but nonetheless it was really fun. You have a wonderful Friday, and if there are any old movies out there I've missed you just let me know.;)

Evening!

Thanks for answering my questions on the blog. I personally feel that sometimes, a person's "rights" extend too far. And this was an example of those times. However, I do not favor a strong gov't interference so my concern comes from the fact that when gov't gets involved, it seldom stops at the approp. place and it keeps pushing for more control. As I said, I do agree that the parents should be held accountable for the death of their daughter. I do wonder why no one pushed for intervention on her behalf? Sad.

Elcid, I love the guess who!!

I enjoyed reading your comments on the blog correlating impending progress reports with reported violence in Iraq. U.S. support for Israel is a topic that isn't discussed nearly enough. Have a great afternoon!

Hey elcid...hope you're having a great day!! You posted something last week on my profile "If I may make a suggestion, change your eating schedule so that you are eating small meals (between 200 and 300 calories) every 2 hours, between 6am and 6pm. You might be pleasantly surprised."

Thanks a million you genius you!! This weekend I didn't eat so great because I was helping my brother move but I lost 2 lbs from Friday to Tuesday and got back on track Tuesday with your suggestion and between yesterday and today I've lost another 1.8 lbs!!! So all total 3.8 lbs since last week.....Woohoo for me!!
