Sounds as if you have this time off all planned out for fun. Guess if you're gonna be laid off, Spring is a good time. Just like with my surgery in Nov. I was out during all the holidays.

I agree with OR. When Kestrel's blog with the links about Sherry first came up - there was some strong reactions. Some of the reactions where in Kestrel's blog, and some posts spilled off onto other's profiles. I am the one who asked that we close the blog and wait for Angela. Since there are no weekend moderators, it was the only way to get people to step back and cool off. And given some of the things that were being said - a cooling off period was NECESSARY.

I had a buddy who volunteered for sub-duty. He was a nuke tech who had a medical discharge from the Navy after suffering a stroke in his twenties.
He ended up on the Enterprise after he found out he had to get all of his dental fillings redone before going to sea. He had a stoke at sea and had he been on a boomer, he probably would have died before thay could get him to a land based hospital.
I guess you've been keeping up on the Carthage shooting. My kid goes to school with the shooter's step-daughter. Such a sad sad story.

As for the family, we're getting close to normal again. My grandma and grandmother in law both suffer from dementia/Alzheimer's, so they remember very little of what happened. Both are in good spirits, which is a blessing. Thanks again for your support. We all really appreciate it!

YES, there definitely are jerks that ride up behind you and expect you to get out of the way, even if there’s no where to go. I’m amazed at the people that have fits behind me because I’m not right against the car in front of me, yet we’re all STOPPED in traffic.
My kids and I saw the monument last summer but didn’t realize it was MY sub at the time. The weather was bad so I didn’t read the plague. Kids got a kick out of it later. Said it was like knowing someone from the Titanic. :)
