about oldrebel

Brothers. My "babies" , many years and many tears ago. The firstborn is here with me, and the younger is somewhere in Afghanistan. Their mom is gone, and Life goes on...

The_Road_Is_Long
With many a winding turn
That leads us to who knows where
Who knows when
But I'm strong
Strong enough to carry him
He ain't heavy, he's my brother

So on we go
His welfare is of my concern
No burden is he to bear
We'll get there
For I know
He would not encumber me
He ain't heavy, he's my brother

If I'm laden at all
I'm laden with sadness
That everyone's heart
Isn't filled with the gladness
Of love for one another

It's a long, long road
From which there is no return
While we're on the way to there
Why not share
And the load
Doesn't weigh me down at all
He ain't heavy, he's my brother

He's my brother
He ain't heavy, he's my brother..."

LOL- thanks for the chuckle this morning. You are one of a kind my friend! Get that bike out and ride....I am gonna pull the top off the Vette and ride myself here in a few. Have a great day!!!!

Luke and Levi - those are AWESOME names!

I'm not really depressed. But that song kinda' had me worried about YOU. Your words are always a blessing! Very thought-provoking and never ugly! You have a wonderful "bike ridin'" day!

thanks for the link Reb, I'll have to try it out sometime. Iplay mostly by ear so it really helps me to hear a song. have a great weekend!

Sweet picture. Reminds me of my 2 boys. I have pictures of them both sitting in a smaller wagon that holds blocks and they both used to love to take all their toys out of their toy box and sit in it together. Memories like that are great when just 5 minutes ago the oldest kicked the youngest in the face. Left him with a fat lip and a bloody nose. Both of them crying. The kicker is in time out and things are quiet for right now. Until time out is over.

Old Reb- I was on the way to being born in May of 70. I remember the 70's as one of the best times of my life. I'm in the present now with my wife and kids and without a doubt this IS the best time of my life. Keep on writing what you write. It's good stuff. Have a good night.

Great profile Reb, I love the picture and the song. Please give me your son's name so I can include him in my dailies.

Adversity offers growth and change - otherwise how would we ever mature into who we were created to be?

Goodnight dear one.

None of us deserve prayer or forgiveness - that is the beauty and awesomeness of the cross.

Thank you for your kind words. Have a great night.

I have missed you, I really have. How are things going? I have been spending a lot of time on my back deck and when I sit there listening to the birds and crickets I throw up a prayer for you. The road is long but I pray the sun is at your back and a gentle breeze is in your face. You have an awesome soul my poet friend!

Court was awful. Just sitting there listening to all the dead beat moms and dads blaming everyone from the judge to the lawyers for child support services. When all the time if they would just take responsibility for themselves and their obligations. It was very tense and I heard every name in the book spoken by the people in the courtroom. Mummbled under their breath of course. I felt I had to look over my shoulder several times. I hope I never have to go back.

I hope your son does get his job. It would be great for him I am sure. For you too. Have a great night. My traveling has caught up to me. I almost fell asleep on the couch a while ago. So tired. I usually try to begin putting the boys to bed around 8. I hope to be in bed by 9. Looking forward to my pillows. Later, Tater.
