about flashlight

I don't really consider myself liberal or conser... Okay.  I'm quite liberal.  But, not unreasonable.

...and yes, that's possible.  It's just that life not looking like Leave it to Beaver doesn't scare me.

"Some men look at constitutions with sanctimonious reverence, and deem them like the ark of the Covenant, too sacred to be touched. They ascribe to the men of the preceding age a wisdom more than human, and suppose what they did to be beyond amendment... laws and institutions must go hand in hand with the progress of the human mind... as that becomes more developed, more enlightened, as new discoveries are made, institutions must advance also, to keep pace with the times.... We might as well require a man to wear still the coat which fitted him when a boy as civilized society to remain forever under the regimen of their barbarous ancestors."

-Thomas Jefferson

The Doomed comes from Nixon and is a favorite expression of mine. There are those who, because of seriously bad choices in their lives, are truly Doomed. In fact, I believe in the concept so strongly that I have seriously considered writing a book characterizing their Doomed status, how they got there, and potentially how to get out into the realm of the Elite.

We are getting there - i am going to convert a conservative within 500 posts - LOL

"What you don't realize about Islam, because the lib media refuse to say it, is that in their "holy" book, they are told to kill the infidels......which is anyone who doesn't follow Islam. In Islamic countries.....they are kicked out of their family, called "dead"....often beaten, Some great religion that is!!"

Two questions: Where did you learn that? and... Who told you that?

Not looking to go back and forth; I'm just curious where people find this kind information and why they take it to heart.

I have had 2 girlfriends of the Islamic faith, one former and one current, that is where I got my information from, how about you?. Both American born, neither extremist, neither of Middle Eastern decent (another stereotype, both were African American and English was their first language) and neither hate America. Also note that there are drastic differences between Islam beliefs/practices here and those abroad in “Islamic Countries”. The extremist do not in any way represent the majority. Neither of my girlfriends would be able to relate to any of those Shiites, Shani’s or whatever because there are different variations of the religion just like there are different denominations and variations of protestant faiths. They are not uniform. Obama doesn’t = extremist/highjacker.

You will also find many examples of violence and holy war if you go through the beloved text the Holy Bible, but I doubt you will use any of those statements out of context to condemn an entire population. I have a problem with someone that compares Obama, or any of my x-girlfriends to an extremist. It is just ignorant man. I didn’t read the paper or listen to Bush to form my opinion of Muslims. I know some. A better question is, who told you what you think about all Muslims and why do you take it to heart? How and why do you generalize extremism on any religious group? How are you going to compare a religious extremist to Barak Obama? You are just casting misunderstanding and intolerance and it disturbs me. You need a clue man…try asking an American Muslim, but don’t expect to be able to identify all of them by appearance.

My response to the "misunderstanding" below:

So I happened to actually look at my profile this morning and found a wonderful little speech on my ignorance of Muslim issues. I quoted another post (who I can't remember) speaking of their opinion. That wasn't me. It appears you've confused someone else's opinion with my own. I always find it interesting in a merely observational way to find out who is actually telling people what, and from that, what is believed. I in no way was presenting any actual opinion on the issue of my own. Just curious where people find out what they know in general. Perhaps next time, you should thinkb4uspeak.

I teach my child manners, respect and freedom of thought. What I will teach my child later in life is that when something is reported in the news it is up to him to find out if there is any validity in what he sees. As for the Clintons there are reports all over the web that create some doubt as to whether or not they actually 'knocked' off people who could potentially damage their political careers. It is a person choice to believe what they want, my choice - I wouldn't put it past either one of them. My 2 cents to your rumors comment.

Hey...is your avatar for ASU? I was in Boone this weekend and saw that A.

Hey...do you work in the courthouse? You hit the nail on the head in the blog. Thanks!

The one I work in was bombed in 2001. It is literally falling down.
