My Photos Website  (Flickr)

NC State Sports Website  I Write For

My Golf Blog

My Personal Motto: "Life's short.  Work hard.  Play harder."

First things first: I hate writing online profiles -- they remind me far too much of those silly high school assignments where you had to write a two-page autobiography.  How can you encapsulate an ongoing life in just a few words?

Where I Am From:  Originally, Cocoa Beach in Florida.  Yes, I have heard the "I Dream of Jeannie" jokes.  No, the town is not like that.  It is a mixed town of folks who work at Kennedy Space Center and is also a beach resort.  Cocoa Beach has some of the best surf on the Atlantic Coast of the US.  Good enough for a regular stop on the pro surfing tour.  Maybe you've seen the RonJon's stickers on people's cars?  That's my home town.

Anyway, I am from there because most of my family worked in the space industry at one time or another.  When you watch documentaries about Apollo, Gemini or Mercury, more than likely you will see one or more of my relatives.  I've seen my Mom, my Dad, my Grandfather and one of my Uncles.  Me, I saw every single Saturn V ever launched...in person.

Why I Am In NC:

When the Apollo program came to an end, my parents found better jobs and that brought us here to Raleigh.  We've been here since the mid-1970s.  I can almost call myself a native.  Almost.

What I Like:

* Travel - been to all fifty states.  Been to dozens of countries.  Some I would go back to in a second (California) and others I would skip.

* People - Everyone is interesting somehow.  Just keep in mind that interesting can have more than one meaning, like the old Chinese curse.

* Art - There is a lot to see and experience in this life.  Creating art is the best way to remember it.  If you have a camera, you are an artist.  Me personally, I write, photograph, design and once in a while play music.  I made my living briefly as a professional musician, but it wasn't the life for me.  Besides, you play music, you don't work music.

* The Sea and The Mountains: there are no finer places on this Earth than the Andes or Sierra Mountains and the Caribbrean Sea, and I have been to lots of places.  The Caribbean and the tall mountains all have bright colors and clean air.

Much as I love NC, sorry, our mountains are hills compared to the Andes and most of our coastline has been ruined by too many baby boomer shacks.  Same goes for my hometown's beaches too.  The beach shouldn't have high rises in the dunes.  That's what I think, anyway.

* Sports: I love golf, even if I am not that good.  Think golf isn't hard?  Then why does Tiger Woods still take lessons?

I also love to watch ACC sports and pro hockey.  I used to like racing before racing decided to sell its soul for the money.  I mountain bike, hike, water-ski and other sorts of stuff.  I used to be a skydiver (116 jumps) and a ski racer, but the bones are getting brittle and the price of an accident is too high nowadays.

And so forth and so on.  Read this far?  Wow! Goodness gracious, sakes alive, you really do need to get a life...(I'm kidding, simmer down)

I am not that interesting.  Move along, nothing more to see here!!!

Hey Charles. Drive by while I've got a boil going outside. Saison in the works.

Charles, I hope you met your deadline, friend. Have a great Saturday ;)

Hey Charles!

Glad you didnt forget, to be honest I havent either but I didnt wanna bug you about it!! :)

I honestly dont have any ideas, but once you figure something out, I can give you my email addy and go from there OR if you figure somethin else, jus lemme know!

Dont go crazy over figuring it out either! NO biggie!

Have a great day!

I'd love to check out that system sometime. I'm still in the dark ages.

RE: 3% reduction is demand = 10% reduction in price:

"'We're talking about a 2-to-3 percent reduction in demand, which would mean a much larger percentage reduction in price, maybe 10 percent,' Greene said."

The next paragraph says this though,"Tom Kloza of the Oil Price Information Service in Wall, N.J., agreed that a 2-to-3 percent cut in demand likely would reduce prices. But, he notes, in past years price spikes were usually linked to refinery shortages while this surge has been tied more directly to crude oil prices. 'I don't think there's a particular downside to conservation, but that doesn't mean that if we cut back on our gas consumption, that the price of crude oil worldwide is going to drop,' he said." These are from here: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24502653/

I also found this little tidbit of info:"The U.S. passenger vehicle fleet alone accounts for one-tenth of world petroleum consumption" from http://www.nrdc.org/air/transportation/gasprices.asp

:) CHarles, of offense taken. Probably a lot of people never saw the first one, and I'm sure newbies since then missed it. Besides, I'm always tickled to see a picture of Adele on here. I hated to see her leave WRAL, she was a plesant person and a professional in the broadcasting business. But she's doing well it would appear out there and hopefully she'll not forget us back here. Did I mentionm that she's still a Babe? ;) Take care and have a great weekend!

Thanks, Charles.

Me too. But I gotta tell ya...Im a basket case over here.

Charles, thanks for the info, but after giving it some thought, I guess I will just pay the $ and have a professional do it. As I said, we are techno-tards. I seriously doubt I could open up the computer and replace anything.

Puts me in mind of that commercial where the guy is holding a butter knife to his stomach and getting advice from a surgeon on the phone. "Make an incision between the 3rd and 4th ribs." Guy looks hesitantly at the butter knife: "Shouldn't you be doing this?"

Susan

"Me, I am thinking of harvesting some mint and making a Mojito with some Cuban rum that I accidentally brought home a few weeks ago."

You da man!!

I do not know all that much about her, but what I do know I like. I am going to research more on her. I am no big fan of Mccain, but I want him to beat the others. He needs a fresh and vibrant personality (not to mention her good looks) like Palin. He just might have a good chance with her. Time will tell. Stay real!

Did you attend the concert?

self actualized...that is a term i havent heard in a long time.

are you comparing beer with a veggie? lol

Ha ha CB, thanks :) I am workin on it. Have a good one yourself!

you do realize that is a very old pic of the queen and her guards...she stopped riding side saddle in parades a while ago. her favorite horse retired and she slam quit riding sidesaddle.

my back is beginning to hurt...lol...tomorrow i will work a good bit of the day...but i have a computer there...i tellz ya when i started i figured a couple of blogs and be gone...but there is so much out there about mccain....i wont touch the stuff on his 5 years as a pow....the man survived...gotta respect that..

and please dont embaress me by making it come to light...i know way too much about the queen lol

lol i know why she carries a purse...lol...i mean its not like she is gonna pay for anything now is it?

she smokes...litte know fact...i think she may have quit..but that is why she carried that purse....i think both her and the queen mom ( may she rest in peace) both smoked. now the queen mom she was one h3ll of a lady.

Good morning, Charles. Regarding your post/pics of the white dove, we had such a visitor with us on three consecutive weekends back last Fall. He/she perched atop our house, and would drink from the birdbath on occasion. We were sitting 25 - 30 yards from the house, going in and out from time to time. The bird never seemed disturbed by our presence. Hubby even walked over and extended his arm, just to see if anything would happen... the bird just sat there!

We're in northern Pender Co. I Wonder if this was the same bird, per chance? See my pic at:

i like what you said to Mojo about your ex....I feel the same about my ex

charles, to which blog do you refer?

did you ever find the blog from the nyt...i cant find it...due to being flagged...my blogs only go back so far....

*still waiting* if i posted something about mccain that was an outright lie...i would like to know...

okay all my blogs are back...~happy dance~ the only blog that mentions the nyt is the blog...."can you trust mccain" which was taken vrom the caucus blog. I dont think anyone said they were sorry for this article. Still waiting for back up on what you said...*smile* I will check back later.

Charles, thanks for the link. However this is where Cheeta lives I believe:

i will review the blogs again...no worries

thanks for the compliment on the shoes :) Just gotta remember how cute they are instead of how much they may hurt! Beauty is pain, I guess... :-P

i think this is the blog you refer to....i will be waiting in the shadows for you to fall all over yourself ...saying what...come one i want to hear it...

i was ...what....and you were what? lol... you may fill in the blanks...

one reason i am bulldogging you on this....as much as i hate to admit this...i do pay a bit of attention to what i blog... i try not to blog outright lies, i try to avoid the misleading things if i can. i assure you ted stampley was not one of my prouder moments and you will note...i do not say a thing about senator mccains service as a pow...except that he survived and that is all one can expect of anyone. I am careful about McCains service record as well.. my father was a vietnam vet. i thread very carefully on this subject...i was at ft bragg when the last pows returned....i will never forget it..women arriving with new husbands to see the husband they had been tol

they had been told was dead..men arrviing in such poor medical conditions etc...the emotional and physical tolls were obvious. They is why I have bulldogged this. Sorry if i have been a major pain but let me tell you...i had to read pages of comments by crisp to figure this out...you cant say your sorry enough lol

*clapping hands* i love when others have to say that....lol...no worries....i assure you ...you wont have to say that much to me....have a good day.

did i mention having to read pages of crisp comments...seems i should get more....any chance of cash? lol...i am a good democrat...*wink*

What??? You had a link from the NY Times? Do tell! -Angela

I will ask her. I think she worked with the safety program at Boeing as well.

Happy Humpity hump day.. I hope you are having a great week!

Then why do you advocate the election of candidates that want to expand the role of government in our lives -- that will require more, not less, tax money?

what candidate do you think i am voting for? you have no clue which candidate i support? now do you?

jackie broyles...08

lol i want his truck

"Actually, my office is overlooking a forest and has three nice windows. It's also pretty big too.

People like you work for me, bro."

Classic!

"Studley, Your take on CPU processor engineering is quite interesting. You certainly know your stuff."

I take you you're talking about my post on the tech blog. Yeah I focused my study on the hardware side of things... I'm for it getting MUCH better in the future through parallel processing. Being able to do so much with a tiny bit of real estate excites me... for example, the current state of the art 80x86 cpu sets on an area SMALLER than a dime at 7watts! It even includes the SMP registers for multiple processing support ... YES! a 1.4Ghz cpu core that doesn't even need a heatsink!

Charles- Do you know where you can find De Konick in the area? I was hoping to get my hands on their yeast and culture it. I'd have to order Wyeasts Schelde or White Labs Antwerp via the internet to make a belgian pa that is on my brew schecule. I'd much rather drink a bottle and culture the yeast myself.

You are a true nut! I almost peed myself when I read what you helped do to a coworker. I love it!

made you an admin on the brewers group. I'm out. Have a good one.

Thanks for the shout Charles. Been busy trying to be dad of course, and aunt bea/ hazel, but i take time to see what my people on golo are up to.

hehe, thanks! whenever i need to learn a new skill, i just experiment on my own site. drupal is pretty awesome - definitely takes some getting used to, though. i'm used to having 100% control, and it's kind of automating a little of my creativity, but i'm learning. i think i know you from somewhere in business-land... did you ever go to any raleigh bni groups?

thanks for the critique charles. You have great photos

More great quotes! Thanks. I'm on a founding fathers kick because I can't believe that I have to keep picking between two loosers as presidential candidates, so I'm trying to raise awareness for the Libertarian Party.

As far as the shots, opera goes almost always for b&w. Classic. I hated all the color shots anyhow. Although it would be fun to do something with a more natural background rather then a stupid drape :)

You should repost your blog from late last night again later today. It was bumped off the side banner by 8:00 this morning. That's good stuff for discussion.

Have a great day!

CB-Interested many, many years in photography and understand this is your expertise. Would really like some training in the art and technical side of photography. I just bought a Nikon D-40 with a 70-300 lens, along with the standard 18-55. Can you recommend a good tutorial or class somewhere?

Hi there...went to visit your flickr site. Your photos are great! Going to peruse the Cali ones. I grew up out there and haven't been back in entirely too long!
