about lightfoot3

About me

I don’t lie, and I despise hypocrisy.  I’m very patriotic and believe in following the Constitution.  I live by the Golden Rule of treating others as I would want them to treat me.

While I was born and raised as a Christian, I’ve seen the light and realize religion is a farce.  While there are some exceptions, most so-called Christians I’ve encountered are hypocrites and frauds.  That seems especially true on GOLO.  I do not believe that Vishnu, Amon-Ra, Poseidon, Thor, Jehovah, or any of the THOUSANDS of other gods are real.  They are all man-made, nothing more than fictional spooks in the sky.  Prayer doesn’t work.  Bottom line is that there is no God.  Sorry.

By the way, I’m pro-gun, pro-military, pro-Constitution, pro-death penalty, pro-democracy, and pro-“nuking” any country’s tail that messes with the United States of America.  I’m slightly left of center with my political views, mostly because of my support of the United States Constitution and the related civil/human rights.  I vote for both Democrats and Republicans.

I’m a firearm enthusiast.  Use to hunt in my youth, but no longer have a desire for it.  I do my hunting at Food Lion.  I still like shooting.  I ride motorcycles.  I’ve been riding over 20 years.  I drive a ski boat.  While I do fish every now and then, I practice catch and release.  Nothing wrong with keeping fish, I’m just too lazy to clean them.  Did enough of that in my youth.  I like to stargaze.  I know how to fly an airplane.  Once in a blue moon I dabble in poetry.  I like to camp.  Well basically, I like nature.  I love sitting on a high mountain ridge while birds of prey float on the thermals about me.

NOTE for those requesting to be friends:  I REALLY appreciate the “friend” requests.  I’m not thumbing my nose at you by not accepting.  I just don’t like those kind of features.  I prefer a totally open forum.  Besides, I get a kick out of having “no confirmed friends”.  :)

However, I have been considering it...

By the way, welcome back, You were missed.

Last time I hopped on a religion blog godschild told me I was going to hell for my beliefs. I hopped off and hopped away from golo for 2 weeks

Welcome back! I absolutely concur with your GOLO assessment. I find I am still driven to post in religious/philosophical blogs at times...occasionally there are opportunities to put some good ideas out there. Politics isn't my favorite subject, but sometimes a right-wing blog will catch my attention. The reward is - finding people like you! Even if GOLO is 90% Fundie/Conservative there could still be a few hundred of us left with an open mind...and an intellect that's not perpetually in neutral.

Ok. I thought you could, but it was more polite to ask first.

Alright here is what I believe - it is quite simple and make sense to me.

(it will be interesting to see how many of my words get busted by the word police)

IF male to male intercourse is unnatural, then why is it that the prostate is positioned so that it is possible to stimulated it anally causing ejaculation.

Not to mention, studies in general, that have shown that stimulating the prostate can reduce the chances of a man developing prostate cancer.

I think a long time ago, it was no big deal, but maybe the population dropped and someone somewhere got the idea to make it wrong to do . . . but then again, women were taught to believe that sex for anything other than procreation was unnatural too.

Another thing I believe is people who are homophobic see something in homosexuals that they recognize within themselves.

Here we go off to the word police . . .

Well check that out - it passed!

While it is coming out into the open more and more, sex is still seen as a dirty by a good number of people - at least that seems to be their outward take on it.

What I meant earlier was that long before there was structured life when human-ish creative walked the earth, I think it was probably a case of 'any orifice would do'. Was one more desireable than another, maybe.

All I really know is that I like what I like, and I will not criticize another for liking something different.

Live and let live!

Good Morning. Hope you had a great weekend! :-)

Well, you do realize that some people boost their own self esteem by tearing down others:) Glad you aren't one of those people, welcome back!

Hey, Lightfoot, hope you're having a great week.

Welcome Back. You were missed.

Are you a Lovecraft fan?

Hey! Are you here today?

Scouts ride out tornado under tables

http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/weather/06/12/severe.weather/index.html

Quote from one of the survivors: "The grace of God helped us for sure". I guess his god didn’t have enough grace to protect the FOUR other boyscouts that were killed.

Good Morning!

Please join us. If nothing else, it is a port in the storm. Mentor and Bones are there.

I sent you an invitation to our group yesterday.

You're right - when the opposition breaks out the ridicule, it's over. I was heartened to see Obscurite's views. There's at least one military person who doesn't think our constitutional values apply only to American citizens.

“if they start releasing terrorists [for lack of proof] or bringing them onto American soil [for trial]; you can bet that every trial in the US will be publicized; and martyrs here, will probably launch attacks...don't know about you, but I'm staying away from any courthouses!” - tmedlin

So, suspend democracy, justice, and rule of law for fear of what the enemy might do??!!! If this attitude would have been prevalent in the late 1700s we’d still be a British colony!

:-)

Do you still have the invitation button?

I think the only way would be to join.

How about this, join, so you can come, interact and go as you please; no strings or expectations of you beyond maintaining the privacy of the group.

Fair?

*head banging* i defended their right to free speech and get attacked....lol..call me stupid go on.....

I was once brainwashed too, then I went to played in the mud. . .

This is a conversation that needs to be off that blog.... Ok, so you were once agnostic and now atheist. How did you reconcile in your mind there was NOT a God? I swear I'm not trying to debate you, just trying to figure out how you became of your believe, or non belief that is.

Sorry I didn’t respond sooner. Actually had to get some work done. Then I decided to take some vacation time and took my boat out to Jordan Lake. I LOVE going out there during the week, with no crowds. I’m not sure I have enough room to explain how I got to where I am today in the comments section. I’ll see what I can do tomorrow. I’d like to do a blog, but work will be busy and with everyone creating blogs just for general comments, it would fall off the list and go stale rather quickly. I’ll get back to you.

i wont make that mistake again i assure you....i am suddenly an advocate of the lion...*wink*

re:"suspend democracy, justice, and rule of law for fear of what the enemy might do??!!!" Lincoln suspended habeas corpus for most of the Civil War, imprisoned newspaper editors who dared disagree with the governments policies, supported the use of military tribunals in which the sentnce was often summary hanging. FDR supported military tribunals to deal with German/ Nazi infiltrators who were captured after landoing on our shores =during the war...and then they were hanged also. I see no reason to extend the rights of American citizens to those captured during their efforts to harm American troops or interests. If they mean harm to us, they do not need the benefits our own citizens are due.

yoiur blog on athiesm made me smile. Well done!

LF, thank you so much for taking the time to write that blog. Of course, I don't agree with it, but you've brought up many, many great points.

well, you are still to be congratulated for keeping it civil...

Yes, I totally agree Licoln was wrong and he was outside the Constitution when he did many of the things he did to prosecute the war. There is a sayiong, 'All things are fair in love and war.' This is war we're in. There are powers that are gaining in strength that have nothing less in their goal than to tear don western civilization and return the earth to a 7th or 8th century way of life. They can probably survive quite well that enviroment. Western Civilization can't. Our way of life is built on technology, on the rule of law (as we see it), on personal freedoms, on choice. If they win this war, we will have none of that. We will simply be another tribe hoping the local Saladin overlooks us on his next ride through the countryside. I'm not trying to be flip. In a perfect world what you're saying is The Way we should be. But this is not a perfect world and the "other side" wil not rest until we are thrown down. For some reason Westerners can't see this unfolding.

Wow...I leave for an hour and a half and it is still going strong...way to go...everyone stated their opinions and nobody changed their darned mind's...one bit...don't you just love open dialogue... :P

you did yourself proud today. good blog...great discussions...will this be your first and last blog?

reposted from your 'why i'm an atheist' blog:

I tried to read every comment. It was a very though provoking blog and generally civil compared to discussions on these topics in the past. I can tell you've scaled it back a notch. LighterFoot?

I still am right back to believing mostly nothing concerning creation and eternity. I feel perfectly in tune with my existence spending time with my family, playing guitar or eating a good meal with a good beer. I always read just in case of a possible random Enlightenment.

On a technical rant: It is extremely difficult to follow blogs like this one without the ability to thread or post replies to individual comments. It just turns into a jumbled mess. Sometimes I wish wral would have just launched Golo on Wordpress.

Nice blog today. Most people seemed to respond respectfully, minus one or two, but that is to be expected.

i am bored with the bush morph too lol but not ready to go back to the other pic...perhaps its time for a search....summer pic should be brighter lol...

I enjoyed reading your blog today and all the comments. I hope you will consider joining the Closest Moments blog - it is for everyone and anyone. I really do love learning about others and have friends of all beliefs, religions and practices. Their heart, ethic and character is the determining factor for friendship. I figured you grew up in a very religious background, I went to Catholic School .... explains a lot, doesn't it :-) No wonder I eventually returned to Christianity - as a protestant.

Any way - great blog.

Lightfoot just wanted to stop by and say that you did a really great job of putting yourself out there. You are a brave person to do that know what would hit. I am a believer in Christ as my savior. I hope that the path that you are own brings you happiness. You get no judgement from me. That is not my job. I am thankful for that. See you around.

Thanks Feisty. I didn’t expect it to grow so big. I doubt I’ll ever return to religion, unless one of the gods comes out of hiding and holds a press conference.

good morning...

i think steve showed how he is yet again today.....yes it was ironic..he goes on about meaningless blogs but he blogs about his need for munchies at 2 am...of course his life is of great interest to us all...lol

Hey LF! I answered your question on your blog. It's rather lengthy, but I hope you go back and read it!

Wow, thought for sure my blog "Thoughts on Christianity" would get some comments - I think folks must not know what to say.

Oh well. There is a HUGE difference between religion and God in America, and I find it a crying shame. I can only change myself and I am working on that :-)

Make it a great day.

I despise hypocrisy------(so do I)The one thing Jesus hated the most. To be a hypocrit and claim to have Jesus living in you is also a lie. Jesus has Agape love..something humans cannot fathom.Jesus also tells us to judje ourselves first so others cannot. Have a great day :-)

AHART4DUKE Yes, Jesus was quite clear about His feelings regarding hypocrisy. No contradictions there!

While I do like bashing organized religion every now and then, that wasn’t my intentions in that blog. The bible does have contradictions and it does no good to claim otherwise. Some of them don’t matter, but some do. For example, consider my blog “are sins relative?”

“I just interject name calling into my arguments simply because I enjoy it.” - Steve Crisp

Would you expect less from a Christian fraud?

“And as a Christian…” - Steve Crisp

Uh, yeah, right.

I saw the atheist blog still on golo front page... Wow, over 400 comments and still going... Wow is all I can say.

Huh? I'm surprised to hear that, to say the least. I was on for about an hour this morning, and gave/received a few drive-by postings, but that hardly qualifies as "popular." Given my absence over the past month, I shouldn't qualify for that title.

Bottom line, I don't know. I'm sure Angela could tell you. If you find out, please share, because I'd like to know, but not enough to actually go ask....

Have fun!

wow...you out did yourself with that blog. It is still kicking! Great job!!!!!!!!

.......have fun, Guy....... I've burned my candles at both ends too...... lol

Are you stalking the night tonight? ;)
