about lightfoot3
About me
I don’t lie, and I despise hypocrisy. I’m very patriotic and believe in following the Constitution. I live by the Golden Rule of treating others as I would want them to treat me.
While I was born and raised as a Christian, I’ve seen the light and realize religion is a farce. While there are some exceptions, most so-called Christians I’ve encountered are hypocrites and frauds. That seems especially true on GOLO. I do not believe that Vishnu, Amon-Ra, Poseidon, Thor, Jehovah, or any of the THOUSANDS of other gods are real. They are all man-made, nothing more than fictional spooks in the sky. Prayer doesn’t work. Bottom line is that there is no God. Sorry.
By the way, I’m pro-gun, pro-military, pro-Constitution, pro-death penalty, pro-democracy, and pro-“nuking” any country’s tail that messes with the United States of America. I’m slightly left of center with my political views, mostly because of my support of the United States Constitution and the related civil/human rights. I vote for both Democrats and Republicans.
I’m a firearm enthusiast. Use to hunt in my youth, but no longer have a desire for it. I do my hunting at Food Lion. I still like shooting. I ride motorcycles. I’ve been riding over 20 years. I drive a ski boat. While I do fish every now and then, I practice catch and release. Nothing wrong with keeping fish, I’m just too lazy to clean them. Did enough of that in my youth. I like to stargaze. I know how to fly an airplane. Once in a blue moon I dabble in poetry. I like to camp. Well basically, I like nature. I love sitting on a high mountain ridge while birds of prey float on the thermals about me.
NOTE for those requesting to be friends: I REALLY appreciate the “friend” requests. I’m not thumbing my nose at you by not accepting. I just don’t like those kind of features. I prefer a totally open forum. Besides, I get a kick out of having “no confirmed friends”. :)
However, I have been considering it...

The same is probably also true for republicans and abortion. Dems would have us believe republicans would somehow reverse Roe v. Wade tomorrow if given the chance, but that's probably just not true. Some would, yes. But it would take a lot of extreme right repubs in office and extremely conservative supreme court justices to pull that off. It just ain't happening. The country is just too divided to unite enough to elect that many right-wing extremists. But at the same time, if you're pro-choice, you don't want any of those folks in office! Same holds true for us pro-gun people. We don't want any anti-gun people in office for the same reason.

While Christians can't give skeptics empirical proof of God's existence, we also can't prove the existence of some of our heavenly Father's more famous human creations—people like C.S. Lewis, George Washington or King Tut. Photographs, dollar bills and ancient artwork provide evidence that these humans existed—but not proof. Evidence points to fact. Proof asserts a fact irrefutably.
On the other hand, we can put a droplet of blood under a microscope and, through observation, give irrefutable proof (what scientists call empirical proof) of the identity of this fluid. We can even match it to a specific human or animal.
But we can't give empirical proof that C.S. Lewis, George Washington or King Tut ever existed. However, the weight of historical evidence indicates that they did exist.

The same is true of God. In fact, evidence exists in the records of all world civilizations. From prehistoric times, the idea of God has existed in the mind of humanity. Perhaps that's because, as author Bob Hostetler points out, "The idea of a Supreme Being who made the world makes sense. The concept of God is what scientists call a highly convenient hypothesis."
In other words, the concept of God fits—almost as if our minds have a feel for God. So much so, in fact, that when people reject God, they invariably substitute something else.
So, what should Christians say to a skeptic?
I doubt that all the arm-twisting or eloquent speeches can convince a nonbelieving friend that all of creation belongs to God. (In fact, arm-twisting and eloquent speeches aren't exactly God's style.) Transforming a hardened heart is actually the work of God himself. Besides, proving His existence isn't as important as telling the wor

That it's lately become a social gathering place and gossip bench instead can be directly attributed to the rise of a certain type of individual on here who either fails to grasp the actual purpose of the site or is incapable of adding any commentary of merit / weight to the discussion. This type prefers meaningless chit-chat because that's more or less all that they are capable of. I don't fault them for that, but it's neither why this site exists nor why many of us chose to engage here. What it is, fred, is distracting and silly, and a waste of our time.
After all, if all one is interested in is flirting, gossip, babbling about one's religion, reposting chain letters and sexual innuendos, there's always Myspace (or your new site), correct?

Something interesting:
"Feisty" - ill-tempered; pugnacious.
"Redneck" - a bigot or reactionary, esp. from the rural working class.
"Diva" - arrogant, difficult to work with, high-maintenance, manipulative, fussy, highly strung, and/or demanding

You know you can always go to the other site. If you don't like someone you block them and they can not communicate with you. Just join the news group or other groups that you find interesting - or start your own group too. I would love to see some discussions going on about different religions and beliefs. I am a Christian because of my own experiences and as long as I do not feel like I am being attacked I love honest discussion about others beliefs. I love much of the Native American beliefs and customs (I have Blackfoot in me) and I love learning about others beliefs, etc. How did they form them, what do they practice, etc?

The new site, while I have interest in it, is a business venture between several business people/groups. It is not even officially live for a few more weeks, it was taken live because of what was happening here and people leaving. The other site will grow and be offering many things to a wide range of people, so keep your eyes on it. You never know how it might turn out. I actually suspect that WRAL.com is watching it closely hoping it will take care of some probems for them - but it won't. They don't "get" social media and can not have their cake and eat it too - people won't go for it.

No, this liar told me to stay off her profile page, when I responded to some of her attacks and hate mongering out there (she was posting on my profile). I honored that request. Ironically, this hypocrite just posted TWO posts on my blog TODAY. Such blatant hypocrisy is amazing.
I post her nasty comments on my profile so I can maintain a record of her unprovoked attacks. Else she might delete them and lie about it. But the fact that she knows this proves the cyber-stalker has been out here reading my stuff. That’s just TOO funny!

Gollum, eh? A new name from the hate monger.
“TBK - no, you aren't a little crybaby - you can stay” – tmedlin
Yet this hate monger is the one that went crying when she got a dose of her own nasty medicine.

She's not here for honest debate, at least not on her particular hot button issues. If it's something she's not up in arms about, she seems to be more amenable to it, but those are increasingly the exception rather than the norm.
I believe that I'm coming to the conclusion that her purpose for being here is to seek out people willing to agree with her and add to the collective furor. In some ways, she reminds me of Rush in that regard. "Don't think, just listen to what I'm telling you and get angry. Really angry."
Things like that are one of the reasons (along the great influx of the less than intelligent) that I believe GOLO to have been a monumental mistake. It has completely ruined the character and subverted the ostensible purpose of this place.
