about lightfoot3
About me
I don’t lie, and I despise hypocrisy. I’m very patriotic and believe in following the Constitution. I live by the Golden Rule of treating others as I would want them to treat me.
While I was born and raised as a Christian, I’ve seen the light and realize religion is a farce. While there are some exceptions, most so-called Christians I’ve encountered are hypocrites and frauds. That seems especially true on GOLO. I do not believe that Vishnu, Amon-Ra, Poseidon, Thor, Jehovah, or any of the THOUSANDS of other gods are real. They are all man-made, nothing more than fictional spooks in the sky. Prayer doesn’t work. Bottom line is that there is no God. Sorry.
By the way, I’m pro-gun, pro-military, pro-Constitution, pro-death penalty, pro-democracy, and pro-“nuking” any country’s tail that messes with the United States of America. I’m slightly left of center with my political views, mostly because of my support of the United States Constitution and the related civil/human rights. I vote for both Democrats and Republicans.
I’m a firearm enthusiast. Use to hunt in my youth, but no longer have a desire for it. I do my hunting at Food Lion. I still like shooting. I ride motorcycles. I’ve been riding over 20 years. I drive a ski boat. While I do fish every now and then, I practice catch and release. Nothing wrong with keeping fish, I’m just too lazy to clean them. Did enough of that in my youth. I like to stargaze. I know how to fly an airplane. Once in a blue moon I dabble in poetry. I like to camp. Well basically, I like nature. I love sitting on a high mountain ridge while birds of prey float on the thermals about me.
NOTE for those requesting to be friends: I REALLY appreciate the “friend” requests. I’m not thumbing my nose at you by not accepting. I just don’t like those kind of features. I prefer a totally open forum. Besides, I get a kick out of having “no confirmed friends”. :)
However, I have been considering it...

There were reasons for that, Lightfoot. But you don't believe the Bible, so you can't open your heart and mind and study it to know any better. Some things happened before Jesus came. Some things were signs for the unsaved because Jesus was not around, nor was the Bible assembled.

The bible is collection of facts and fabrications. I know it quite well. In fact, given I approach it with an open mind AND an analytical/critical eye, I think I have a better insight than people that assume it’s all real without really even thinking about it.

I’ve went over all this BEFORE in my blogs. No one out here can tell me why God is invisible and silent today. I listed sign after sign in the bible that was done to prove God, yet nothing is seen today.

Well this one didn’t provide any insight. It took the stance analogous to trying to prove the bible by quoting the bible. But the author unknowingly demonstrates how ALL gods were created by man. We can’t explain the universe, so we invent a god (Apollo, Zeus, Thor, Amon-Ra, Vishnu, Jehovah, Allah, etc.)
But it didn’t address why God doesn’t reveal Himself like He did all over the bible. Hezekiah demanded a sign, why can’t we?

This one is a dud too. It basically says to just shut up and believe. Again, why can Hezekiah (and others) demand a sign but we can’t?

Another dud. I want proof TODAY. I’m not going to rely on some fiction written hundreds and thousands of years ago by primitives. This one takes the stance of, “you wouldn’t believe me if I showed you, so I’m not going to show you”. I’ve addressed this weak excuse in my blogs. One more time, why can’t I get a sign like the people in the bible got signs? I’m not trying to be difficult, I just want one, tiny, little sign. And I’m not asking for anything more than people did time and time again in the bible. Miracles were like card tricks in the bible, so why not now? The obvious, logical, and most intelligent answer is the miracles in the bible are nothing but fiction.

I like the way you think. Even if our religious beliefs differ, I love your sense of humor
While I am a Christian, I don't believe that I should force my beliefs on anyone. The way I live my life should be a testimony.
I was reading through that blog and the comments you made cracked me up.
Thanks for bringing a smile to my day

What happened to your eyes is not unheard of. Our eyes change as we age. Most time they go from good to bad. But sometimes because they were already bad, they actually get better. It has to do with the shape of the eye, and the way the lens works. Nothing to do with the sun god, or voodoo, or any other god. Besides, if god was so perfect, you’d think he could muster better than 20/25. Even human doctors with laser surgery can do better than that! :)
If believing in spirits helps you get through life, more power to you! I don’t need them.

No actually laser surgery CAN'T do better than that. It only does 20/35 - I checked w/my doctor. I wanted the laser surgery. Now my daughter will be a canditate for it when she turns 27. She can fork out the big bucks for it. And 20/25 is perfect vision as far as NCDMV, Eye doctors and I are concerned. But you are right about the children - did you stop to think that maybe God was testing the parents and maybe they FAILED and he took the angels to Heaven to protect THEM. Read the bible Lightfoot. Keep reading - you will learn something every time. Merry Christmas! Lets quit arguing and agree to disagree here at Christmas - maybe next year we can take this up again - Friends? :)

My sister got better than that. I had lunch with someone last week who got better than that. Perhaps you should seek a better doctor. :)
“And 20/25 is perfect vision as far as NCDMV...” - Cupcake4-Ever
If God only strives for perfection as good as the NCDMV, perhaps you should also seek a better god! :)
“...he took the angels to Heaven to protect THEM.” - Cupcake4-Ever
Uh, people don’t turn into angels, but to suggest God allows kids to be abused as a form of protection is pretty warped reasoning. I know it’s frustrating when there’s no god, but the world can survive without such fantasy.

I hate the saying, “agree to disagree”. There’s nothing wrong with people disagreeing, and having different opinions. And I don’t really consider this arguing (i.e. the fussing variety). We’re just having a civil discussion. We happen to have different views, but nothing is wrong with that. Of course we can be friends, AND disagree. :)
Merry Christmas to you!

Hmm, they look like Indians to me! :) Of course, the American version. Is there a difference between American Indians and Native Americans, or is that just political correctness?
DUDE! What up?
Thought I'd come to your profile on this one since there are some on golo who have a problem with some things I say....
n~e~ways....I was born and raised 'Indian.' Several years ago I agreed to serve on a Human Relations Council in the county where I then lived in NC. It was a rewarding experience! Each year the Council offered a diverstiy banquet in which different cultures would present the audience something a little bit different. It was then that I stopped calling myself Indian. Why? We had Indians from India to present. We had Natives (or Native Americans) to present. It's not being PC...most Natives I know 'want' to be called Indians. Fine and dandy. To each his own. For me..and this is gonna run over the 1000 limit

So, when NM and I applied for our SC marriage license, I was insistent that Native American be listed as my race. Of course it had to be hand typed in since only Indian was automatically available. Sad, I had to put this in the 'other' box. Whatever.
You and I have always gotten along. I wanted to tell you 'personally' why I am the way I am about the Indian biz.
We kewl like that...right?
Have a wonderful Holiday Season!!

That was my impression, from growing up within a stone’s throw of the Lumber river, so that’s why I asked. And I know what you mean by differentiating between America and India. Never a problem growing up, but in the Raleigh area it makes a difference.

If you’re referring to the personal attack dedicated to me on her profile, that has been out there a while. Nothing recent going on, that I know of. The “No matter how badly abused…” part is a reference to a lie and false rumor she started, claiming I was molested by a pastor.
But I see that you posted on her profile in an attempt to stir something up. Good luck with that.

We could call it the “Santa Claus Effect”. I discovered/realized the truth.
“I am a STRONG believer in God and Jesus.” - MommaBee
Not surprising given that’s what’s expected in the United States. But I’d be interested in hearing why you are not a STRONG believer in Vishnu, Amon-Ra, Pele, Thor, Poseidon, or any of the other gods. Do you believe in Vishnu, or are you an atheist?
“My heart goes out for you and will pray that your faith be restored.” - MommaBee
I appreciated it. Don’t think prayers work, but they can’t hurt.

Through reading, studying, and observations, I’ve determined that all the gods and religions of the world are made up. If you would like to prove that your god exists, I’m willing to listen or view the proof. I’ve listed what I consider acceptable proof in my blogs. Proof was given in the bible, so it should be simple to replicate today (if it’s real). If you don’t like the proofs I’ve listed, make one up yourself and I’ll tell you if I would consider it acceptable (for me). Bottom line is that it has to be non-ambiguous and measurable. The simplest form would be moving an inanimate object. More complex proofs, especially if they involve some healing (hint, I’ve got a sore back) will take more ground rules.

Not only is there no Satan, but there’s no God either. Both are fictional spooks, created in the imagination of man to explain or cope with the unknown. The evil done today is from man, not some invisible spirit.

J and P was basically condemning people that don’t believe in his devil as unintelligent.
I wonder how any intelligent person can believe in invisible spooks in the sky. How can people believe Thor striking his hammer causes thunder. Lightning comes from Zeus. Hurricanes come from Poseidon. Volcanoes come from Pele. Etc. We know the history of gods and religions and we KNOW them to be manmade fabrications.

Most Christians do.
“I knew the devil existed.” - MommaBee
I believe otherwise. I believe the evil of man rests with man.
“So I picked up interest in Christianity.” - MommaBee
And if you lived in India, you might have picked up an interest in Hindu. Middle East, it would be Islam. Etc. Which is why I don’t believe any of it. If geology/culture makes a difference in which gods you believe in, then gods aren’t real, they are creations of that culture.
Yes, I too think a lot of churches today are nothing more than social clubs.

And I detest when this lying hypocrite shows disrespect to a senator and now president-elect Obama by referring to him as “Barky”. But I wouldn’t block her for it because I let everyone exercise free speech. The 1st amendment doesn’t stop at the door of my blogs like it does at others.
“I know it's being used to insult all believers” – tmedlin
That’s a deliberate lie by a KNOWN and PROVEN liar.
Tmedlin blocked me when I exposed her lying about her previous bashings of McCain. Pure and simple, she didn’t like my skill at exposing her lies.

This, from someone who doesn’t even fathom what being a Christian really means? This from someone who admitted that don’t go to church? Hmmm.
For the record, it’s “giant invisible spook in the sky” and given its apparent affect on a very bad person, I’ll have to use it more often. :)

Religion, and wars over religion, will be the downfall of mankind. I don't know why people don't understand this. Just believe what you believe, have faith in it and don't push your beliefs on others. All religions can coincide if we would stop trying to force "others" onto "ours."
