about lightfoot3

About me

I don’t lie, and I despise hypocrisy.  I’m very patriotic and believe in following the Constitution.  I live by the Golden Rule of treating others as I would want them to treat me.

While I was born and raised as a Christian, I’ve seen the light and realize religion is a farce.  While there are some exceptions, most so-called Christians I’ve encountered are hypocrites and frauds.  That seems especially true on GOLO.  I do not believe that Vishnu, Amon-Ra, Poseidon, Thor, Jehovah, or any of the THOUSANDS of other gods are real.  They are all man-made, nothing more than fictional spooks in the sky.  Prayer doesn’t work.  Bottom line is that there is no God.  Sorry.

By the way, I’m pro-gun, pro-military, pro-Constitution, pro-death penalty, pro-democracy, and pro-“nuking” any country’s tail that messes with the United States of America.  I’m slightly left of center with my political views, mostly because of my support of the United States Constitution and the related civil/human rights.  I vote for both Democrats and Republicans.

I’m a firearm enthusiast.  Use to hunt in my youth, but no longer have a desire for it.  I do my hunting at Food Lion.  I still like shooting.  I ride motorcycles.  I’ve been riding over 20 years.  I drive a ski boat.  While I do fish every now and then, I practice catch and release.  Nothing wrong with keeping fish, I’m just too lazy to clean them.  Did enough of that in my youth.  I like to stargaze.  I know how to fly an airplane.  Once in a blue moon I dabble in poetry.  I like to camp.  Well basically, I like nature.  I love sitting on a high mountain ridge while birds of prey float on the thermals about me.

NOTE for those requesting to be friends:  I REALLY appreciate the “friend” requests.  I’m not thumbing my nose at you by not accepting.  I just don’t like those kind of features.  I prefer a totally open forum.  Besides, I get a kick out of having “no confirmed friends”.  :)

However, I have been considering it...

"God had no problems with proving his existence throughout the bible, in front of one or many. So what’s the problem today? Bottom line, god’s imaginary."

There were reasons for that, Lightfoot. But you don't believe the Bible, so you can't open your heart and mind and study it to know any better. Some things happened before Jesus came. Some things were signs for the unsaved because Jesus was not around, nor was the Bible assembled.

“There were reasons for that, Lightfoot. But you don't believe the Bible, so you can't open your heart and mind and study it to know any better.” - TruthBKnown Returns

The bible is collection of facts and fabrications. I know it quite well. In fact, given I approach it with an open mind AND an analytical/critical eye, I think I have a better insight than people that assume it’s all real without really even thinking about it.

“Some things happened before Jesus came. Some things were signs for the unsaved because Jesus was not around, nor was the Bible assembled.” - TruthBKnown Returns

I’ve went over all this BEFORE in my blogs. No one out here can tell me why God is invisible and silent today. I listed sign after sign in the bible that was done to prove God, yet nothing is seen today.

Consider King Hezekiah. He demanded God prove something and God did by moving the sun backwards (or the shadows if you want to get technical). Now tell me, why can’t we demand such proof today? Nothing to do with sinners. Nothing to do with Jesus. Nothing to do with the unsaved. So why can’t people ask for proof today like they did back then? And why doesn’t ANYONE ON THE PLANET have enough faith to move a grain of sand, much less a mountain?

This is a pretty good read for you.

http://www.biblestudy.org/question/why-does-god-not-reveal-himself-more-to-man.html

Another good link:

http://timchester.wordpress.com/2008/06/21/why-doesnt-god-reveal-himself-more-clearly

One more to grow on... :)

http://www.ucg.org/booklets/GE/godrevealhimself.htm

http://www.biblestudy.org/question/why-does-god-not-reveal-himself-more-to-man.html

Well this one didn’t provide any insight. It took the stance analogous to trying to prove the bible by quoting the bible. But the author unknowingly demonstrates how ALL gods were created by man. We can’t explain the universe, so we invent a god (Apollo, Zeus, Thor, Amon-Ra, Vishnu, Jehovah, Allah, etc.)

But it didn’t address why God doesn’t reveal Himself like He did all over the bible. Hezekiah demanded a sign, why can’t we?

http://timchester.wordpress.com/2008/06/21/why-doesnt-god-reveal-himself-more-clearly

This one is a dud too. It basically says to just shut up and believe. Again, why can Hezekiah (and others) demand a sign but we can’t?

http://www.ucg.org/booklets/GE/godrevealhimself.htm

Another dud. I want proof TODAY. I’m not going to rely on some fiction written hundreds and thousands of years ago by primitives. This one takes the stance of, “you wouldn’t believe me if I showed you, so I’m not going to show you”. I’ve addressed this weak excuse in my blogs. One more time, why can’t I get a sign like the people in the bible got signs? I’m not trying to be difficult, I just want one, tiny, little sign. And I’m not asking for anything more than people did time and time again in the bible. Miracles were like card tricks in the bible, so why not now? The obvious, logical, and most intelligent answer is the miracles in the bible are nothing but fiction.

If I really were Satan, I’d make up with God and put all the churches and religions out of business

I like the way you think. Even if our religious beliefs differ, I love your sense of humor

While I am a Christian, I don't believe that I should force my beliefs on anyone. The way I live my life should be a testimony.

I was reading through that blog and the comments you made cracked me up.

Thanks for bringing a smile to my day

Well then if it make your blood boil then that should tell you something is wrong in your life like maybe the Devil doesn't want you reading or wanting you to read the Bible. You need to keep reading it until your blood stops to boil. :) Just a little bit of friendly advice, my friend. Something else for you: I 've been nearsighted my whole life vision has been 20/80 have had to wear glasses for driving. This year I've had a miracle in my life: My vision is 20/25 - no longer need glasses for driving. My eye doctor did several tests, the NCDMV also did a test - did not take the eye doc's word for it. Only God could have healed my eyes. I'm 45 and have been nearsighted since I was 13 yrs. old. What have you to say now and eyes don't heal on their own for no reason - they worse not better.

No, my blood doesn’t boil because of something wrong in MY life, but rather something wrong I see in life. Stories of abused kids and abused animals do it. Reading what Sherman did during his march through my neck of the woods does it. And reading about a sorry excuse of a god making a bet because of pride and ego does it.

What happened to your eyes is not unheard of. Our eyes change as we age. Most time they go from good to bad. But sometimes because they were already bad, they actually get better. It has to do with the shape of the eye, and the way the lens works. Nothing to do with the sun god, or voodoo, or any other god. Besides, if god was so perfect, you’d think he could muster better than 20/25. Even human doctors with laser surgery can do better than that! :)

If believing in spirits helps you get through life, more power to you! I don’t need them.

"Besides, if god was so perfect, you’d think he could muster better than 20/25. Even human doctors with laser surgery can do better than that! :) : LIGHTFOOT3"

No actually laser surgery CAN'T do better than that. It only does 20/35 - I checked w/my doctor. I wanted the laser surgery. Now my daughter will be a canditate for it when she turns 27. She can fork out the big bucks for it. And 20/25 is perfect vision as far as NCDMV, Eye doctors and I are concerned. But you are right about the children - did you stop to think that maybe God was testing the parents and maybe they FAILED and he took the angels to Heaven to protect THEM. Read the bible Lightfoot. Keep reading - you will learn something every time. Merry Christmas! Lets quit arguing and agree to disagree here at Christmas - maybe next year we can take this up again - Friends? :)

“No actually laser surgery CAN'T do better than that. It only does 20/35 - I checked w/my doctor.” – Cupcake4-Ever

My sister got better than that. I had lunch with someone last week who got better than that. Perhaps you should seek a better doctor. :)

“And 20/25 is perfect vision as far as NCDMV...” - Cupcake4-Ever

If God only strives for perfection as good as the NCDMV, perhaps you should also seek a better god! :)

“...he took the angels to Heaven to protect THEM.” - Cupcake4-Ever

Uh, people don’t turn into angels, but to suggest God allows kids to be abused as a form of protection is pretty warped reasoning. I know it’s frustrating when there’s no god, but the world can survive without such fantasy.

“Lets quit arguing and agree to disagree here at Christmas - maybe next year we can take this up again - Friends? :)” - Cupcake4-Ever

I hate the saying, “agree to disagree”. There’s nothing wrong with people disagreeing, and having different opinions. And I don’t really consider this arguing (i.e. the fussing variety). We’re just having a civil discussion. We happen to have different views, but nothing is wrong with that. Of course we can be friends, AND disagree. :)

Merry Christmas to you!

“It's a Native American Nativity scene.” - Naughty Monkey 2

Hmm, they look like Indians to me! :) Of course, the American version. Is there a difference between American Indians and Native Americans, or is that just political correctness?

DUDE! What up?

Thought I'd come to your profile on this one since there are some on golo who have a problem with some things I say....

n~e~ways....I was born and raised 'Indian.' Several years ago I agreed to serve on a Human Relations Council in the county where I then lived in NC. It was a rewarding experience! Each year the Council offered a diverstiy banquet in which different cultures would present the audience something a little bit different. It was then that I stopped calling myself Indian. Why? We had Indians from India to present. We had Natives (or Native Americans) to present. It's not being PC...most Natives I know 'want' to be called Indians. Fine and dandy. To each his own. For me..and this is gonna run over the 1000 limit

For me, I chose to go with what I felt in my heart was right. My ancestors were here long before this land was called America. They were Native to this land (some argue different). I...'me'....prefer to be called Native. The director of the NC Commission of Indian Affairs and I talked once about this. I asked, 'Why does the Commission continue to use the term American Indians?' His reply, 'Because that is what the federal government tells us we can call ourselves.'

So, when NM and I applied for our SC marriage license, I was insistent that Native American be listed as my race. Of course it had to be hand typed in since only Indian was automatically available. Sad, I had to put this in the 'other' box. Whatever.

You and I have always gotten along. I wanted to tell you 'personally' why I am the way I am about the Indian biz.

We kewl like that...right?

Have a wonderful Holiday Season!!

{{hugs}}

Hope you had a Merry Christmas and that you will have a Happy & Safe New Year for always.

I had a very dear and special friend tell today that you cant' live in the past that you have to go forward. Kinda hard to do since I've loved him since before 11/24/89 but I will get by - I always do. :) Take Care. Goodbye my friend. God loves you too!

“...most Natives I know 'want' to be called Indians.” - Blablah2

That was my impression, from growing up within a stone’s throw of the Lumber river, so that’s why I asked. And I know what you mean by differentiating between America and India. Never a problem growing up, but in the Raleigh area it makes a difference.

We’re always moving forward in some way or another. Sometimes for the good, sometimes for the bad Lightfoot3

Yes I know what you mean. My friend leaving me was for the bad. I called too late. Broke my heart. But was my fault. Doesn't matter as long as my friend is happy. :)

Hope you have a great New Year!!

;)

lol...she is quite a character....the way i see it, with 10,000 + usernames, there's gonna be all types. some are just more tolerable than others, right?

I see you and tmedlin are at again. roflmbo!!! :) Don't you ever give it a rest. :) just teasing, my friend. Doin lots better now. Thank You.

“I see you and tmedlin are at again…” - Cupcake4-Ever

If you’re referring to the personal attack dedicated to me on her profile, that has been out there a while. Nothing recent going on, that I know of. The “No matter how badly abused…” part is a reference to a lie and false rumor she started, claiming I was molested by a pastor.

But I see that you posted on her profile in an attempt to stir something up. Good luck with that.

You know that friend I spoke with on 12/28/08. He didn't break my heart - I just thought he did. He never had it to start to with. Someone else does. Someone more special than him. Someone that likes to fly and someone that when I was 18 remembered my phone number as I was 64 and he was 95. I miss that man. Been going thru some stuff and slowly getting straightened out. Getting back to me - hopefully I will see him soon. Very soon - he is the only one that cared enough to ask and talk me thru something. :)

Of course - it's fun stirring the pot. :) ROFLMBO!!!!

Sorry - had to do it

I don't know what happened along the way that made you stop believing. But I wasn't raised going to church nor talked to of God. My mother apparently calls herself a catholic but practiced witchcraft back in the day. I wasn't introduced to a church until I was 16. Most of today's Christians are hypocrites and only go to church for social reasons, but as for me I don't go to church but I am a STRONG believer in God and Jesus. My heart goes out for you and will pray that your faith be restored. IF you want to comment to me go to my bible readers group and comment there so our group can get a good discussion out of it. I am open to your opinions and will not pick on your beliefs but I do want to find out why you think all of this.

“I don't know what happened along the way that made you stop believing.” – MommaBee

We could call it the “Santa Claus Effect”. I discovered/realized the truth.

“I am a STRONG believer in God and Jesus.” - MommaBee

Not surprising given that’s what’s expected in the United States. But I’d be interested in hearing why you are not a STRONG believer in Vishnu, Amon-Ra, Pele, Thor, Poseidon, or any of the other gods. Do you believe in Vishnu, or are you an atheist?

“My heart goes out for you and will pray that your faith be restored.” - MommaBee

I appreciated it. Don’t think prayers work, but they can’t hurt.

“I do want to find out why you think all of this.” - MommaBee

Through reading, studying, and observations, I’ve determined that all the gods and religions of the world are made up. If you would like to prove that your god exists, I’m willing to listen or view the proof. I’ve listed what I consider acceptable proof in my blogs. Proof was given in the bible, so it should be simple to replicate today (if it’s real). If you don’t like the proofs I’ve listed, make one up yourself and I’ll tell you if I would consider it acceptable (for me). Bottom line is that it has to be non-ambiguous and measurable. The simplest form would be moving an inanimate object. More complex proofs, especially if they involve some healing (hint, I’ve got a sore back) will take more ground rules.

U ignoring me again? LOL!

Those that are cowards in their faith, cannot weather their faith under scrutiny.

Posted on: http://www.wral.com/golo/blogpost/4248017

Not only is there no Satan, but there’s no God either. Both are fictional spooks, created in the imagination of man to explain or cope with the unknown. The evil done today is from man, not some invisible spirit.

From: http://www.wral.com/golo/blogpost/4248017 “how on earth could an intelligent person fail to acknowledge the presence of the enemy?” - j and p

J and P was basically condemning people that don’t believe in his devil as unintelligent.

I wonder how any intelligent person can believe in invisible spooks in the sky. How can people believe Thor striking his hammer causes thunder. Lightning comes from Zeus. Hurricanes come from Poseidon. Volcanoes come from Pele. Etc. We know the history of gods and religions and we KNOW them to be manmade fabrications.

Seeing how you can't "keep up" check this out dude! LOL!! :)

http://www.wral.com/golo/blogpost/4249255/

Okay! My mother believes in witchcraft and supernatural stuff but calls herself a catholic and my father is a baptist. God wasnt brought up to me at all growing up. I knew the devil existed. I admit that at right before I met my husband I was a point in my life nothing was going good for me, so I can say God was the farthest thing from my head. Somehow over time I wanted to learn about God and Jesus. So I picked up interest in Christianity.

To be honest with you I am not sure what to call myself these days. I believe in God and his ways. In my heart God will always be there. Prayer isnt a problem for me nor is talking about why I care about God and Jesus. But... I despise walking in todays Church's because of how they do things now. My husband and I used to go every Sunday until we noticed how people really are in a church. Like I tell people, if you are going to church for social reasons or just for the entertainment then they need to worship something else. I would rather learn about God from home than from people who pull scripture out of the bible and rephrase it in there own interpretation.

“My mother believes in witchcraft and supernatural stuff…” - MommaBee

Most Christians do.

“I knew the devil existed.” - MommaBee

I believe otherwise. I believe the evil of man rests with man.

“So I picked up interest in Christianity.” - MommaBee

And if you lived in India, you might have picked up an interest in Hindu. Middle East, it would be Islam. Etc. Which is why I don’t believe any of it. If geology/culture makes a difference in which gods you believe in, then gods aren’t real, they are creations of that culture.

Yes, I too think a lot of churches today are nothing more than social clubs.

Lightfoot...we don't agree on some things, but I don't block you. Why? Because you are generally civil in your remarks. Disagreements don't bother me, it's the way they are stated that can sting!

Thank you for being yourself!

I have no reason to block you. As I said, you generally express yourself well. You haven't slung "poo" (that I have seen) like some people on here! You are welcome to post anytime!!!!

I understand defensive "poo", lol.

“One that I detest the most,is when people refer to God, as "the great spook in the sky"” – tmedlin

And I detest when this lying hypocrite shows disrespect to a senator and now president-elect Obama by referring to him as “Barky”. But I wouldn’t block her for it because I let everyone exercise free speech. The 1st amendment doesn’t stop at the door of my blogs like it does at others.

“I know it's being used to insult all believers” – tmedlin

That’s a deliberate lie by a KNOWN and PROVEN liar.

Tmedlin blocked me when I exposed her lying about her previous bashings of McCain. Pure and simple, she didn’t like my skill at exposing her lies.

““One that I detest the most,is when people refer to God, as "the great spook in the sky"” I find that HIGHLY offensive,” – tmedlin

This, from someone who doesn’t even fathom what being a Christian really means? This from someone who admitted that don’t go to church? Hmmm.

For the record, it’s “giant invisible spook in the sky” and given its apparent affect on a very bad person, I’ll have to use it more often. :)

We're just about the same when it comes to politics and beliefs on religion (it's a joke). Thanks for being supportive. I'll return the favor.

yes, on the nutation. And no... Mayans probably didn't know of the conversation... but Im positive the calories spent typing all this could have been better used to turn my power meter back 1/1o

... 1/10th kWh. Woops. I bumped the add comment button before finishing the comment.

I respect peoples views and opinions on life I will not block you. You have your beliefs and I have mine. That's the American Way right.

"By the way, the event in 1986 that had my attention was the return of Halley’s Comet. :)" Lightfoot3

I remember doing a report on that in elementary school. I'm glad you didn't drink the Kool-aid! lol Wasn't that the one??? No...wait...that was Hale-Bop? Anyway, the people poisoned themselves so they could ride the tail of the commet...WHAT?

Religion, and wars over religion, will be the downfall of mankind. I don't know why people don't understand this. Just believe what you believe, have faith in it and don't push your beliefs on others. All religions can coincide if we would stop trying to force "others" onto "ours."

My step-son is a UNC fan, it's not MY fault but that's what he is. We are State fans in this house and somehow when my step-son comes to visit we all get along. (With a lot of ribbing on both sides.)
