about lightfoot3
About me
I don’t lie, and I despise hypocrisy. I’m very patriotic and believe in following the Constitution. I live by the Golden Rule of treating others as I would want them to treat me.
While I was born and raised as a Christian, I’ve seen the light and realize religion is a farce. While there are some exceptions, most so-called Christians I’ve encountered are hypocrites and frauds. That seems especially true on GOLO. I do not believe that Vishnu, Amon-Ra, Poseidon, Thor, Jehovah, or any of the THOUSANDS of other gods are real. They are all man-made, nothing more than fictional spooks in the sky. Prayer doesn’t work. Bottom line is that there is no God. Sorry.
By the way, I’m pro-gun, pro-military, pro-Constitution, pro-death penalty, pro-democracy, and pro-“nuking” any country’s tail that messes with the United States of America. I’m slightly left of center with my political views, mostly because of my support of the United States Constitution and the related civil/human rights. I vote for both Democrats and Republicans.
I’m a firearm enthusiast. Use to hunt in my youth, but no longer have a desire for it. I do my hunting at Food Lion. I still like shooting. I ride motorcycles. I’ve been riding over 20 years. I drive a ski boat. While I do fish every now and then, I practice catch and release. Nothing wrong with keeping fish, I’m just too lazy to clean them. Did enough of that in my youth. I like to stargaze. I know how to fly an airplane. Once in a blue moon I dabble in poetry. I like to camp. Well basically, I like nature. I love sitting on a high mountain ridge while birds of prey float on the thermals about me.
NOTE for those requesting to be friends: I REALLY appreciate the “friend” requests. I’m not thumbing my nose at you by not accepting. I just don’t like those kind of features. I prefer a totally open forum. Besides, I get a kick out of having “no confirmed friends”. :)
However, I have been considering it...

I'm trying to find backup for the story of Evangeline Adams, a descendent of John Adams, who was the premier astrologer of her day (early 1900s). She was arrested several times for fortune-telling in New York and tried on the charges. She asked the Judge to give her the birth information of any person, and proceeded to draw up the horoscope there in court. She expounded on the chart of this person, someone she had no idea who it was. The Judge listened intently and pronounced that how she described this person was true, as it was the birthdate of his son. He determined that astrology was a science rather than fortune-telling, and she was acquitted. I'd read this in the book "A Time for Astrology" (1972) by writer Jess Stern, who also wrote about paranormal subjects, including "The Search for Bridey Murphy."
Between you and me, I think Steve is the Devil! LOL LOL LOL!

Everyone gives astrology a bad rap because of 1) the daily horoscopes that cannot possibly fit every person (and aren’t really intended to) and 2) nobody understands its’ purpose or confuses it with fortune-telling or psychic ability. At heart, it’s basically about energy. Every planet gives off its’ own particular brand of energy (think sunspots, radio waves, etc.) Depending on what planets you have in your chart, and in what “houses” or areas of life they fall, you are affected or influenced by these energies. Sometimes they are in harmony with your thoughts and actions, and sometimes they are at cross purposes. Knowing about these energies and what actions they can promote or hinder gives you a guideline to productively plan your life.
An excellent starter book if you want to study more is Steven Forrest’s “The Inner Sky.” His writing is very clear and easy to follow and gives the basic framework needed.
Yeah, Steve behaved himself this time!

You have a Ouija board? I think that's funny!
Are you in the "Agnostics and Atheists" group? I'm a member, but I can never get my thoughts together to say anything profound.

Even I am getting a little tired of the ridiculous anti-Obama blogs. There's an occasional good point to be found in these things, but they're buried in sh!t and therefore pretty hard to spot.

Ain't it the truth. I'm not happy about the election, but I'm glad that the dems at least didn't get their "bulletproof majority". I don't want EITHER party to have that kind of power.
I'm cautiously optimistic that Obama will be more moderate once he's sworn in. I'm willing to give him his shot. Maybe he won't be so bad. We just gained some respect around the world, and maybe that's a good thing.

Just documenting a proven liar (and my response to him/her)...
“Racist and condescending - I guess you really are a liberal.” - Equality Seven 2521
Racist? You’re claiming I negatively judge people based on the color of their skin? That I think some races are superior to others? Unless you can actually PROVE I’m a racist, you’re now a proven liar. I challenge you to provide ANY documentation supporting your false claim that I’m a racist.

No. For the racist accusation to be a lie I would have to know that you were NOT a racist yet accuse you anyway.
"So, what kind of definition are you using? One YOU made up?! "
I did not make up any thing.
A person who uses race as an evaluative measure has inadvertantly placed a value on race, and as such the logical next step is that some values are not inherently equal. To place no value on race by default sets the value as equal regardless of which race.
"Reference your refusal to address the Jesse Jackson question as possible proof you agree. :)"
I would agree that Jackson is indeed racist, and nothing more.
You think you may be playing 'devils advocate' in this matter, but you reveal much of your own notions of race.
And they are disturbing to me.

I’ve said your accusation was false, and requested you prove it. Your haven’t proved it, nor retracted it. You’re a liar.
“A person who uses race as an evaluative measure has inadvertantly placed a value on race…” - Equality Seven 2521
AGAIN, point to where I placed a value of race, or used it as a measure. You said, “Anyone who considers race for any reason is a racist”. Yet those with common sense wouldn’t claim police looking for a suspect described as black are racist.

I stated fact, that some will view this differently because of race. Even gave an example of Jesse Jackson. You’ve dodge the question THREE times now so I think you have no real intent of discussion. You just wanted a chance to play, falsely I might add, the “racist” card.

It is indeed rich from you to accuse me of the race card play.
I gave you the chance to have the last word and replied to you you on your profile.
Your intent to control the argument to suit your terms is telling of your liberal sense of holding yourself in unrealistic high regard.
You do not wish discussion, but rather an opportunity to self-aggrandize and insult.
You were niether magnanimous in receipt of the offer of the last word nor effective at defending your position that in fact you do use race as an evaluative tool.
You condescend when there is no reason and are arrogant beyond belief.
I am sure of one thing. You probably did enjoy that conversation with the brick better than with me for the brick wall would not call you on your baseless accusations and tolerate your inane and over inflated sense of self worth.
November 17, 2008 2:12 p.m.
You’re the one that called me a racist for pointing out the racial implications of an Obama movie. In your zeal to use the “racist” card, your logic failed.
“I gave you the chance to have the last word…” - Equality Seven 2521
This isn’t a game, but if you think it is, maybe that’s your problem.
“Your intent to control the argument to suit your terms…” - Equality Seven 2521
I only control what I, MYSELF post. You’re free to post whatever you want, even to falsely accuse me of being a racist.
“You do not wish discussion…” - Equality Seven 2521
I’ve responded, answered questions, even setup new questions to better understand and discuss the issue. You’ve dodged, evaded, lied, and run away.

“Last word” is a tool by those playing some game. I’m hear to actually discuss and debate real issues. And you still have yet to point to where I was being a racist. Nor have you addressed any of the questions I raised, for to do so would expose the illogic of your stance. The bottom line is that race does make a difference with some people and if you can’t see that, then you haven’t been paying attention to the news!
AGAIN, please point to where I’m being a racist.

To answer your quest, many of the countries that mandate service at 18, Like Sweden for example, do house them together. The US and Brittian, are two of the extreme few who separate women from men in the service. Sweden and the other countries do not have the problems that we fear. Why? Because there are laws that govern specific behaviors that will not be tolerated.
My honest opinion? In cases like the military? No - I think they should all be together learning to work together.

My friend Jonas, who serves with the UN blueberries, tells me all kinds of things. He said when he served in his countries military at 18, his unit commander was a woman. All the women would shower, bunk, etc with the men. There was no separation. LOL he said at 18 years old, it was hard to contain his thoughts, but the punishment for action was enough to scare it back into place LOL.

I wonder if those of you that support the gay's on this issue have thought about this... would you also support forcing BET to provide programming that caters to their white audience?
I see no different between BET and eHarmony here except for their product.

Funny you should mention this bunch. Though Applewhite and crew are long dead, the website is still up: http://heavensgate.com
For fun I spent a bit of time browsing the site some time back. The written statements and transcripts of Applewhite's lectures are quite a confusing muddle. I guess we missed our chance to leave the earth before it was "spaded under" and recycled eh? ;-)
At least they died in excitement and anticipation - at least I suppose they did...hoping to awaken in new bodies on a space cruiser. It's still hard to believe how gullible intelligent humans can be.

OldRebel deleted my comments and blocked me because I told him there was no way to prove a negative (he requested someone to prove God doesn’t exist). This type of mentality, and lack of understanding of the basic tenets of debate, discussion, and argument formation is why GOLO is such an intellectual wasteland. I’d rather simple minded folks just block me from the onset rather than me waste my time with what inevitably turns out to be a mental brick wall.

What’s curious is he allowed ptahandatum’s direct attacks on Christians and Christianity to remain. Ptahandatum said there’s no god or angels. He said it’s all hogwash. He said believers are uneducated. He called religion pitiful. I said you can’t prove a negative and BAM!, I’m deleted and blocked.
Why? Well, I think it’s because I’m dangerous. I don’t just argue, but I actually prove and expose people for what they are. I demonstrate their ignorance. I spotlight their deceptions. And I do it so all can see. They can’t handle it. I scare them. Their world crumbles. They run and scurry without learning a thing.

I've seen 2 sides of OldRebel; at times he seems thoughtful and expansive..other times very limited and illogical - (his passionate defense of Sarah Palin and his assertion that she is hated and feared by liberals, for example) Religious beliefs are (I assume) a source of comfort to him, and he reacts irrationally when cogent arguments are brought to bear against him. I spoke very briefly in support of church-state separation without pushing any further...sometimes it seems to me that Christians treasure the notion that their faith is "under attack" by the bad guys. They should be more kind to us non-believers eh? After all, we help them feel better about themselves, sporadic church attendance notwithstanding! ;-)

Looks like I nailed it! While that wasn’t my intention, looks like me stating that you can’t prove a negative made OldRebel feel stupid or ignorant for not knowing that. But deleting and blocking is a drastic measure, and one which fosters the continuance of ignorance.

Actually, I thought he was referring to me. I didn't realize the words "how so?" were so threatening. As with many of our right wing brethren, discussion isn't really what they are looking for when they post. They are seeking affirmation for what they already believe.
I've been blocked and reported for abuse for suggesting that John McCain's military record was mediocre. So this doesn't surprise me too much. It's the price we pay for commenting in what is basically a right wing forum.
