Ciao Happy, I take it you like cats maybe? Nice smile. I also like REAL chocolate. Hows your day?

I just read your post where you apologized to someone. You don't know me other then maybe seen me posting around. But I just wanted to pop in and let you know we need more people like you. Admitting fault when due is a good quality to have. (:

Hey there.... thanks for visiting..... I appreciate your critique :-) The verbiage that is on the site (while it would be nice to see) isn't as important as knowing that you have total control in saying what you want to say.

It is more important knowing about the text placement than what it actually says. I think if you click on the picture it gives a larger version too.

I'd love to see you as a customer :-)

Rob

Hey there Happy....

Unfortunately, the only sports car cartoon is the one you saw :-)

I do remind folks that it is just a cartoon though. I'd still love to see an order from you.

Thanks - Rob

Hey Happy!! Sorry for my sarcasm I like potluck dinners sometimes too!

Are you a Catamount? So am I! I graduated in '92 with a degree in French and Spanish! My husband is also an alumni! He graduated in '91 and was a founding father of Sigma Chi! That was the most beautiful school in the State in my opinion. I do miss the mountains!!!

LOL..tell me you're not Gretchen hanging with the hoi polloi in here with us Golo'ers. ;) Have a good day. (she says she knows every Hank Williams song)

being able to wake up each morning is a blessing. reading about the funny things people do brings on a smile.

Good Morning! I tried using that word too when I sent someone a recipe and said I like white cheese and cr..kers with mine. Floored me that I couldn't use that word!

re:..."my father and I were estranged for over a year..." You handled that respponse much better than I would have. Meaured and calmly. i would have been ugly I suppose. My hat is off to you for your excellent example. Thankyou. Really, thankyou. :)

"...easier to walk carefully across slippery stones, than to have to jump across burning coals." Again, you did good. Sometimes I wish I could just sit here and bite my tongue, count to 1,000 or whatever it takes to hold off on a sharp retort or witty (in my own eyes) response to some postings. I fail miserably. And your point about there being no inflection, no eye contact when online...that is soooo true. When face to face one can see the impact the words are having and can either explain better or simply shut up to minimize the damage done. When online, you just keep plouging ahead and never realize until too late what's happened...Your example of a measured and calm response to what was (to me) a little insenstive accusation, is something I of all on here , need to learn and emulate. Have a good day!

Awesome, I'm not the only one!!! I was born and raised in the area -- went to Bald Creek, Cane River, and MHHS. Graduated in '96, then went to UNCW for college. Moved to the triangle in 2003. My family still lives up there -- mostly Possum Trot and Scronces Creek! -- Joe here :-), btw.

I played in band all four years too!! Was Doctor Babb there when you were???? Hey -- we probably wore the same marching band uniform!! (Til we got new ones my junior year)! Were in Raleigh do you live? I'm off Creedmoor Road.

I chose the coast because of 1) scholarship, and 2) I wanted to get as far away from Burnsville as I possibly could without paying out of state. I do like to visit now -- but still have NO desire to live there!

Yeah -- Dr. Babb got his PhD while I was there -- in music composition. Mrs. Mauney went to the middle schools (in fact, she was my 6 - 8 grade teacher). (She was also pregnant when I had her!). David Mauney was my Honors Bio teacher in 10th grade.

We actually only competed once -- in 9th grade. Came in second place (on the highest class music). We focused a lot on Music Theory and improving our playing. We did have the ugly green uniforms with the pull over with the cougar on it. We didn't wear the Q - Tip hats, as they were badly damaged by the time we got them. But out new uniforms were white and actually could be used between concert and marching (except the hat of course). We looked rather snazzy. It's been 14 years or so -- so I wonder what the look like now! What did you play? I started on Clarinet, but switched to Trombone my Freshman year.

I went to WCU between 1987-1992. I LOVED it there. I laughed at your story about the snowball fight. We used to 'borrow' cafeteria trays and use them for sleds.

I miss it up there, but it's changed SO much from when we were there.

Oh yeah! Sylva Tire. We did that also. We'd put in the river near the apartments and pull out at Jack the Dippers! Often we'd have an extra tube w/net to carry our refreshments.

My husband (who also went to Western), always likes to say there were only 2 things to do there. One was drink. The other wasn't study.

Happy, I'm laughing at your comment in the "Guy Quotes" blog. My BF can't find the mayo either!

But he knows where his golf clubs are....

BTW, I'm Susan

Amen, Virginia!

It's worse when I can't find things he's misplaced. My problem is compounded because we own rental property and our house is stocked with tools, saws, etc. When he's working on a house, he will leave the tools where he's working and only bring them home when he's finished. When I need a tool, it's always "at the house" or "in my car, I'll get it later." The other day I needed a hammer, and although we must have 4 or 5, I couldn't locate a single one. I ended up using the but end of a saw. THAT drives me into apoplexy.

Love your kitty! Our Meg is black and white but with a white splotch on her back, and Bonnie is a silverish tabby. They are 9 year old sisters who keep our place hopping! They even have their own chair.

Susan

"My husband (who also went to Western), always likes to say there were only 2 things to do there. One was drink. The other wasn't study."

I saw you left this on Rockinhorse's profile.I have a son that goes to WCU and he loves it.He snow boards, skiis, canoe's ,whitewater rafting, and does many volunteer acts like Tuckasegee River Clean-up with his Fraternity. He works as a bouncer and also a River Gude when in season. He is dreading leaving for the summer as he starts his Internship in Kannapolis,nc

So here's what I'm missing about Franklin County, as well as Johnston, Harnett, Chatham, and Granville counties.

All those counties are rapidly turning into residential bedroom communities of Raleigh and the greater Triangle area. That to me means that the commute time from those areas is not so great so as to eliminate people from living there and working in Raleigh or RTP. Now, if people can live there and work here, why can't people live there and go to school here? What has prevented residents of those counties from exploring educational opportunities -- or job opportunities -- in the Triangle?

I would suggest overall laziness, ignorance, and a very skewed notion of how the world works which is seen in out-of-wedlock birth rates, early marraige ages, lack of even basic high school education, and a sense that what daddy did is good enough for me. Not everyone, mind you, but enough such that the economy has been depressed for decades and will continue to be so until they learn.

Ha ha, that reminds me of my sister's long-running beef with her husband in the early years. They bought Coke in bottles in a cardboard carton and kept it in the pantry. He would drink a Coke and just leave the empty bottle on the counter and not bother to put it away. It made her crazy!

Susan

I am half northern and half southern, but I can assure you that the generational ties to guild-like employment opportunities are just as strong in the north as they are down below the Mason-Dixon line. There is difference, though, and it is huge. If one's dad was a welder, then chances are in blue coller families that the kid will be a welder -- but he or she will at least finish high school.

There is a strong emphesis on education in the north. That does not exist in the south among lower income people. In fact, a lot of people in the south actively encourage their kids to drop out of school and work on the farm or factory.

It really is insane.

One of the primary reasons dropout rates are so high among black students is the cultural insistance that education is for white folks. And among the very low income whites, I know of alot of parents who really do actively encourage their kids to drop out at 16 and start adding income to the family. Many kids today are not as dumb as their parents and ignore them, but many just follow in their family's footsteps of marginal poverty.

Got one more post going to ya on that story... It has been fun, ans sorry I did not mean you personaly with the white church. I was just trying to show the difference . Nice to debate with you for once.

Thanks for reading my blogs about Paducah!!! It's a small world my friend!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Without going into much detail, she is just full of bug dust.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not perfect. But what she is spreading is nothing more than gossip and it needs to stop.

Always like both Journey and Foreigner, but I don't think I have but one greatest hits of Journey. I get a little taste of either, and I'm good for several months. :) Son tried to turn me onto Chevelle and Breaking benjamin. Hmmmm...thre's some of that stuff I can live with..I guess like anything else, it has to grow on ya. LOL But I can pick up my Tina Turner, Eagles,Skynyrd,Shakira..any place, any time, and over and over. LOL. be good.

April 15 through 18. Shakori Hills Music Festival. You ought to Google that and see if y'all might come over to Chatham County and do a day or two of it. I've never been but they tell me it grows every year and is a lot of fun for the whole family. Lot of music of all kinds of style, nice area, outdoors...

wow , sorry =(

Oh I know the rules !! =) I was a bowler on a leauge for quite some time ! and i feel the way you do believe me

Originally it was on Joe Clifton Drive, but they eventually moved out to the mall area right in front of the Super Wal-Mart. When I went home last November they were gone.

Happy, You asked about my knowledge of the area. From 72-78 I wandered the Blacks. Usually I parked at Black Mountain campground and walked up to Mt. Mitchell and along the ridge of the mountains. Sometimes I walked the vallys. With a topo, a compass, some plastic, some rope, waterproof matches, a water container, a knife, and some light weight food supplies. I used to put myself in a survival mode to forget some things and be forced to face nature. I have been snowed in in early October. I saw every creature up there. I used to cover 10-15 miles a day. Some days, I would just sit. I heard the trees are all dead now and I haven't been back except one time in 83. I'm thinking of a trek in June. Now, I have a tent, a sleeping bag, and a peak stove. It's about as far from civilization as I could find, with challenges of nature. And the beauty...

Love that cat!!! Is it yours? Never noticed you until recently so, "Hello"!~Kim

Hey there!!

I see we are on the same page! I have been yelling that on GOLO since it started. Some of the GOLOers on here are a mess and as prejudice as they want to be. Some even racist. Then the flock together. If you say something to one about their comment, then the whole crew gets on board. Then your comment is made out to be racist. LOL. It is funny how that happens. Anyway, I'm venting. Today has been exciting on GOLO! LOL. Thank you kindly for your comments. Enjoy your evening!!

Well it is nice to know that Im not the only one with a psychotic cat!!!! She is adorable though!!~Kim

Hi,When i saw the name you are using i just had o come by and say hellow.Any one with the name HAPPY has to be happy all the time.I like your cat, does she belong to you? VERY PRETTY CAT.

Morning to you, Happy!! I sure hope you have a happy day!

What a name! I came here, because of your name! LOL! I love it. The cat is adorable! I love your "about me" statement. Have a good one. Beth

Morning to ya!! Hope ya have a happy Monday!!!

Morning Happy! I swear that pic looks so much like Little Bit.

Have a great day.

We agree on more than you think...

The one in the pic??? Can he stay outside??

If so, bring him on! Just know that Jr. still claims our land as his territory. He has run off every male cat around! Although he sneaks in from time to time for a treat...he still keeps the area sprayed pretty well.

There are so many stray cats around the neighborhood. I think Little Bit might accept your male since he won't be pouncing her. Now she is feisty! The dog next door ran up and jumped at her from the other side of the fence. Little Bit didn't back down! She was all up in the fence after him! Ran him off! I laughed so hard at the poor doggie. But he knows how I am about my cats. If I play rough with them, he barks at me!

Dang, I will certainly ask around. Never thought about that but you are right, he has no defense.....I actually don't know anyone who allows cats to stay inside their house...

"I made a perfectly PC comment on the story with the people who had pulled off over 100 robberies. It never got posted, I never got a warning. That's just irritating."

Welcome to my world, mine may not be always perfectly but non the less lol.

It is crazy lol..

lol, you gave in....
