"Garnerwolf, I really don't understand your thinking that Tedesco is a "pawn" of Margiotta." First, let me say I was born in Raleigh and have lived in Garner for almost 40 years. There are not too many that have more interest in having Garner schools succeed than I do. I never said Tedesco winning would be bad for Garner. I totally agree that Garner being the dumping ground for Wake Co's low F&R students must stop! But Tedesco, based on my interaction with him, is an 'empty suit'. He has no substantative plans for accomplishing anything. He's essentially spouting what Mangiotti, and western Wake parents, tell him to, using the bussing/diversity hot button to rile people's emotions and get them to vote for him without looking beyond the rhetoric to see how he plans to accomplish much of anything. If Garner High for instance, still ends up being 65% F&R, what/how is he going to do about it?

Hi Steve! It was so nice meeting you and Kathy (Cathy) LOL! at Oakwood today. Don and I enjoyed talking to you both. Hope we can do it again sometime, hopefully when we can walk around!

Tell your wife I said hello and how much I enjoyed meeting her, please.

This is no "Spam". Before you disregard this company, look at the video, view my webpage, and come to the meeting. You are not obligated to nothing. After you do that, tell me what you think. The BBB approved this company, d'essense. It's not about "competition", it's about sharing information that can only help you or anyone. Do your research on the company and you will know for yourself.

Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you. You can read 10 questions with AG Roy Cooper here: http://www.wral.com/news/local/story/5127876/.

sounds like she's on the right track. So many get overwhelmed when the state packet arrives because it looks like so much. Having already worked in the field, she'll know much of what the inspectors and all will be looking for. Being in the county, I don't have to have a business license, but I did have to get a permit from zoning. Also, she'll have to list personal property business tax every year. I have 2 dogs and it's not that big a deal, depending on the breed. If you have a pool of any kind, that can be a headache.

The next step would be a parent handbook. Make sure she has all the state forms plus her own. And have set rules for her daycare such as hours and days of operation, what holidays she'll take, will she credit if children are absent, when she expects payment, how is payment accepted, how she'll handle disruptive childrn and/or parents, etc

to open a family child care, she'll need to go through the state and become licensed. She can go to www.ncchildcare.net and get some basic info. By your profile, it appears you are in Wake County, I'm not as familiar with that area but she can see who her resource and referral agency is and see what assistance they can offer her. There are workshops/trainings she will need. The infant and toddler safe sleep/SIDS class, CPR/First Aid, and child abuse and neglect are required for our county. I think that's state wide. Also, local and Federal criminal background checks on her and everyone in the household 16 and older. Health dept inspections, fire marshall inspections, then once all of that is done, the state consultant comes out. Sounds like a lot but take it a step at a time, and it's not really.

First step is to contact the Division of Child Development in Raleigh and ask for a packet. Number is on the website

good luck

This is exactly the reason you need to find a locally owned shop, who would have diagnosed and fixed it faster, cheaper, and better. Local shops depend on word of mouth to get more customers.

That is why I always try to tell folks about my experience at Wild Dog Computers. He was fast and did the work for much less then what Geek Squad quoted me to "look" at my computer. Plus he has a very cool dog that hangs out in the store.
