Weather is HOT here! I am so ready for some cooler weather....Helen spoiled me! *smile Just had our Octoberfest...lots of stuff on the river... I am ready to put up my Halloween stuff...not as big a fool over that as I am over Christmas...but the grans love it, so I do my best to oblige. Hope your girls are well. Last night, I was walking around the house and just happened to look down at the base of the house where it meets the ground.
There was a little baby copperhead snake crawling through the pinestraw.
Now, I can let a black snake and a green snake live. But a baby copperhead? No way...
What's worse than finding an adult copperhead? A baby copperhead. Because you KNOW there are more around just like it.
The little thing was striking at me, too! It was funny to watch him do that because he was so small.
Anyway, just thought I'd let you know. Hope you had a great weekend!

You can do the "Snake ID System" -- just answer a few questions, and it will spit back a list of the type of snakes it may have been.
To be honest, it really looks like a baby snake. It's that time of year for the little ones to start hatching. We had a baby black snake on the deck porch a couple years ago at the beginning of October, looked almost just like that. Black snakes often look like that when they are that small (nope, they aren't born solid black!).
But there's only one way to know for sure what kind it is -- and if you're like me, you're not going to get close enough to find out. LOL
That's a cool website to browse and see all the pics and read the descriptions for all the NC snakes. Neat stuff!
