about rocknhorse

I've been a GOLO member for some time now and thought maybe it was time to update my profile.

As stated before, I'm a happily married mother of two wonderful kids.  Life doesn't get any better.  I am truly the luckiest person in the world to have my wonderful family!  My husband and I are self-employed and have been for 10 years.  We've had our struggles in the past, but it's the strength of our love that supports us through the tough times.

I am fortunate to have 4 horses, which I train using gentle methods.  I believe that you have to see the world through their eyes.  When you can successfully do that, then you can understand them and train them accordingly.  This philosophy works equally well when communicating with people.

I am an optimist.  Even during bad times, I seek the silver lining!  Every event, every mistake is a learning experience.  Rather than dwell on the negative, focus on the positive and don't waste the lesson!

I have been accused of being very opinionated and stubborn - neither are negative traits in my opinion!  I believe what I believe, but I'm open to other opinions.  While I may respect your opinion, that doesn't mean I'll agree.  Likewise, just because I may disagree, that doesn't mean I cannot still respect your right to your opinion.

I believe as Americans, we have been afforded the same opportunities.  Some of us took advantage of those opportunities and some did not.  Those who work to excel and to better their lives should not be held back for the benefit of those who do not!

I believe in a hand up but not a hand out!

I believe in accountability/responsibility for your actions!  Life is about choices and every action involves CHOICE!  If you make the wrong choice, you should be held accountable-no excuses!

Beauty comes from within!  It is confidence in being who you are and liking/loving that person!!!

Topics that are extremely important to me are drunk driving and anything that involves kids.  Wrecks that occur because of drunk drivers are not "accidents."  Kids need to be protected.  People who abuse kids should be dealt with in manners that I cannot state here.

Finally, I believe in honesty, but diplomacy when interacting with each other.

Welcome to my profile.  I have many pictures in my Image Gallery!  I welcome comments, thoughts, discussions and debates!

Hey Rockn', you are truly blessed. And I can tell from your blog that you know it and appreciate it. You have an awesome attitude and sense of humor and it sounds like a terrific husband to boot. Enjoy, you deserve it.

Rocknhorse. Still very early but wanted to pass through and say good morning. Hope you have a nice day. Hang in there. This week is almost over with.

Funny you Blogged this today and under Health and Life...

http://wral.com/lifestyles/family/story/2364821/

I had seen it hours after your Blog and it hit me as funny so I thought I would share with you and what "experts" think of children and cell phones. I think it is up to Parents when a child is ready. They do make cell phones for young children that can only call 3 numbers...Mom, Dad, and another emergency number. Like anything there are good points and bad points.

Jus checkin in to see how my Nokona is doing!!!!

Hows things with Shorty?

LOL @ pedicure........ thats too cute.

I bet he will be in his lil glory!

Hey dont feel bad about Shorty, least it worked out. Now, hows YOUR dog, is he still escaping?

Hey Rockn', (not sure what the pedicure comment is prior to my post but in a minute you may see irony in it) Anyway, I figured you would probably be the person to ask about this...my question is, do you know how to trim pig feet? My horse farrier won't do it and my poor pig is starting to look like a "rocking pig". He's a sweet pig, not aggressive at all however, he'll only put up with 1 or 2 snips from me and then he's up and off to the barn. I would like to find a way to get his feet done all at once. Any suggestions? I would sedate him if I knew what to use. Thanks in advance.

Well, your crudity really cracked me up! I could donate some of my or Savannah's bathwater....

"BTW! Loved your commercial during the Super Bowl! Hope you didn't hurt that poor guy too badly when his phone rang!!!"

Shoot! I missed that one! Really, there was a badger commercial during the Super Bowl? (I know, I know, I should know this already... but they don't tell us badgers anything!)

good morning, thanks for the comment.

re: aig...well, this is her third year there, so I would *think* the adjustment period would be over. It just keeps getting worse with each passing year. Hopefully moving to a better school (and one she loved) will boost her up enough to give her a fighting chance when she gets to middle school. I can help her with math now, but anything beyond basic algebra and I'll be useless! It's so frustrating know HOW bright she is- she can talk about politics and religion and anything under the sun, and reads at a 7th grade level, but her grades and test scores don't reflect that at ALL.

they have an afterschool tutoring program- but only if you on free or reduced lunch ( which we are not). That is the only option they offer. They have a list of tutors you can hire, but the cheapest is $30 an hour. Now, if this would be solved with one or two hours of tutoring, that would be fine, but I think this is going to be an ongoing thing, and we just cant afford to pay for a couple of sessions of tutoring a week at that price. The school has taken little to no interest in the situation (check franklinton elementarys report card- its DISMAL)- they just shrig their shoulders and say oh well...

well, we have to get through the rest of this year first...the principal just called me and I think was trying to smooth me over (maybe it was more apparent than I thought that I was upset at the school). She has a retired teacher coming in the afternoons (during school hours) to help kids who need help in math, and my daughter is going to do that 3 afternoons a week. She wont be taken from her core classes, but from the 'specials' that arent really important...which is ok with me. The principal did note that her math grade had improved ( 60 last quarter, 74 this one that just ended) and I told her I really feel its due to my efforts at home and not the schools. She seemed to take that I was insinuating that my daughters teacher was bad- which I do not believe to be the case- shes just not being given enough individual attention, OR its not being explained in a way she understands.

Hey, there. I was just reading your thread with ptahandatum on the child porn comments; your logic was impeccable. Unfortunately, ptah will never own up to that or address your argument. That's his style -- drop a generalization, get challenged on it, and ignore the challenge to drop another, unrelated generalization. It's classic smoke and mirrors, but you made a valiant effort!

Mornin Mornin! Hope you had a great weekend!

Ouch! That would have really had me shaking in my boots. Did you call or did he make the call?

Good for you. I'm glad no one was hurt. Wonder why he ran to begin with. It's always better to be honest and fess up to any mistakes. I'm sure he appreciated your help.

Wow! How old was this man? My son will be 21 next month. There hasn't been too many nights that he hasn't come home. Once I wanted 24 hrs before I went looking for him...we had an argument and he left. Once I saw him at his girlfriend's house, I was ok. The last time he didn't come home, though, I fussed him out for not calling! Yes, I can only imagine how the mom felt when he didn't come home.

The young man that showed up on my doorstep was 17! After the "dust settled" from that incident, we brought our kids down adn told them the entire story. I am under no illusions that my kids will test my sanity as they mature into adults. But I hope that this is not an area where they will test me. That poor mother was probably so glad to know her son was safe that she hugged him before throttling him!

Thank you about the pic. They are suppose to be dancing but I didn't know how to get a moving jpg...lol. If you look in the image gallery, you'll find some pics of my girls. I realized that this pic above was similar to my Little Bit and Lucky. Awesome! This young man better straighten up or he is in for some big trouble down the road. My son was in an accident at 17 but only because of slick tires and a wet road. He was lucky..

Hey lady...How are you doing?

Valentine baby! kewl...I need to remember that. I don't like the shopping. Seems like a waste to buy all that food...not. Just means more work. Don't get me wrong, I love to cook but sometimes I would rather just a tv dinner and let it be over with. Maybe you should shop more often...wouldn't be as much to bring in then. Ya think?

I was laughing because every time you write something, you seem very down-to-earth, family oriented. And then you write that and I almost fell off my chair! I guess we all have our little secrets? LOL

Gotcha! I did that before I met hubby since I only got paid once a month. It really helps having his paycheck each week. Time to grab some lunch!

USED to sell rose bushes. My daddy had some greenhouses and I use to help. They use to sell at Farmer's market in Raleigh.

Are you going to dig up your bushes and take them to the new site? Now is the time.

Rose bushes are usually tough. I get tired of trying to keep the grass and weeds away from them, and usually end up cutting them down with the grass and they always come back.

Help yourself. Remember, let G-ma get some relief now and then. hahahaha!

Thanks rocknhorse!!! Im almost 50!!! Almost half way home!! :)

Good Morning! Happy Hump Day! I think....

I was laughing all night at your 'embarrassing' moment. The visuals I had were too much! Thanks for the laugh!

That was definitely 'hot & spicy' - although I'm sure your husband asked you never to 'surprise' him like that again! LOL

Uh oh...today's Thursday??? Ok, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR FRIEND, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!! {{{huuugggggssssss}}}

I can relate...I've got some online training to do which requires thought so think I'll go get a cup of coffee. Can't be falling into my own blog! lol

♥ HAPPY VALENTINES BIRTHDAY DAY ♥

http://www.wral.com/golo/blogpost/2437850/#commentform

Happy Birth/Valentines Day! Hope you had a good one hot & spicy!

So how was your birthday? Still celebrating huh? Naughty Girl!

Must've got into the pickle juice, did ya? hehe

awww...sounds like fun tonight. You certainly deserve a great time! Have a wing for me!!!

good idea. i'm going to see if i can find some online right now. thanks

Beside hubby and 3 kids...the LOVE of my life...she was 1 year old Jan 23 and still can't get enough of her...so loving and funny...just like having another 2 year old, but no tantrums!!! Thanks!

And....your profile statment could be me! Totally agree!!

Thanks, I like hdvoodoos solution as well. I just posted this on her page:

I think people don't realize this is just the first step in their sickness, that these sickos are peeping in hopes of 'seeing' something worthwhile, not peeping to watch cable because they can't afford it. Some are so niave, or as that blog shows, just plain stupid when it comes to thoughts about peeping toms.

My hope is that they are treated the same way rapists are in jail.

Hi Rockin', hope you had a great week. I was sort of side-lined by a cold but am on the mend. Thanks for your kind words regarding my father (gun control blog). It was so long ago (almost 40 years now) and I've come to terms with the fact that it will never be solved. The closest that they ever came to solving it was a jailhouse confession from a habitual low-life that said he sort of did it to emulate the Johnny Cash song, "just to watch a man die". If any good is to come of it though, it's as an example that more laws won't keep guns out of criminals hands but to lock-up the habitual low-lifes of this world for good.

Hey...How was your weekend? Hope your week has started off great!

Hi Rockin, Hope you are having a good week. I left a message for you on your Raleigh Revolution site.

Mornin! Ok, I'll let you slide since you've been so busy...lol

"I got a lovely bluebird house and a bird feeder that CLAIMS to be squirrel-proof"

Well if it is, let me know!!! Those cute little squirrels have always taken over my bird feeder regardless of where I hang it!!!

I had an ok weekend...Nice weather though. Hope you have a great hump day!

Hey Rockin- I am going to try something, let me know if you don't get an email with password in 30 minutes. Thanks!

Give it til 2:30, I was late trying to figure out wth I was doing.

"I agree about not 'advertising' here. But what about if you hire someone for a service and have an exemplary experience? I have stated some of the contractors involved in our house project b/c they have done such a great job (above and beyond expectations). Is that considered advertising? Or is there a difference between that and referral?"

That's fine. There's a big difference in that and posting a commercial post to make money for yourself. You are blogging about someone else. If they blogged about themselves, that is what I would call a commercial blog.

I might even blog about a restaurant where I got good food and good service. But I don't stand to make a buck from that. That's the difference.

Someone continually blogs about travel. The blog read like a travel brochure, and I'm sure that's where the words came from! That's different, say, than a customer of that travel agency posting about a good trip they got through that agency.

It can be a fine line sometimes.
