about rocknhorse

I've been a GOLO member for some time now and thought maybe it was time to update my profile.

As stated before, I'm a happily married mother of two wonderful kids.  Life doesn't get any better.  I am truly the luckiest person in the world to have my wonderful family!  My husband and I are self-employed and have been for 10 years.  We've had our struggles in the past, but it's the strength of our love that supports us through the tough times.

I am fortunate to have 4 horses, which I train using gentle methods.  I believe that you have to see the world through their eyes.  When you can successfully do that, then you can understand them and train them accordingly.  This philosophy works equally well when communicating with people.

I am an optimist.  Even during bad times, I seek the silver lining!  Every event, every mistake is a learning experience.  Rather than dwell on the negative, focus on the positive and don't waste the lesson!

I have been accused of being very opinionated and stubborn - neither are negative traits in my opinion!  I believe what I believe, but I'm open to other opinions.  While I may respect your opinion, that doesn't mean I'll agree.  Likewise, just because I may disagree, that doesn't mean I cannot still respect your right to your opinion.

I believe as Americans, we have been afforded the same opportunities.  Some of us took advantage of those opportunities and some did not.  Those who work to excel and to better their lives should not be held back for the benefit of those who do not!

I believe in a hand up but not a hand out!

I believe in accountability/responsibility for your actions!  Life is about choices and every action involves CHOICE!  If you make the wrong choice, you should be held accountable-no excuses!

Beauty comes from within!  It is confidence in being who you are and liking/loving that person!!!

Topics that are extremely important to me are drunk driving and anything that involves kids.  Wrecks that occur because of drunk drivers are not "accidents."  Kids need to be protected.  People who abuse kids should be dealt with in manners that I cannot state here.

Finally, I believe in honesty, but diplomacy when interacting with each other.

Welcome to my profile.  I have many pictures in my Image Gallery!  I welcome comments, thoughts, discussions and debates!

lol i travel that way to get to the mother in laws usually hubby is driving so I get to sight see! ;) Everyone always notices horses ;)

Best of luck to your team....

I understand totally :). We have a back up sports bar (hate them but,) there have been times that Time Warner Cable has gone out right in the middle of a game..argggggggggggggg

:)...3 more to go.....

im with ya on that :)...i'd love to see the phillies take back a title :)

Hey, if somebody has the bad taste to puch you that far they SHOULD be scared. :)

Rocknhorse, Hi, and thanks for your response to my question. I knew about the funky liquid you have to drink, but just assumed being without real food for a while would make you sick. Your answer reassures me though. I am due for the procedure, age-wise, but without insurance, don't know when it would happen.

How is the house coming? How long's it been, 6-8 months? Will you be able to spend Christmas in your (new) house?

Susan

Rocknhorse, I know what you're saying regarding the economical slowdown. My BF is a real estate investor and he was denied a loan about 6 months ago even though his credit is fine. Rules for investment property have changed to require 30% down rather than 10% down, so he is at a standstill. AND he is still chasing people down for rent, and has evicted two tenants this year so far. I don't know how he keeps his sanity.

Susan

Oh he was in terrible shape. After a few days I was ready to leave him under the Boylan Ave. Bridge downtown.

Do you have any more pics of your horses? I love the one pic. We have a quarter horse who is crazy (pride-cut) I suspect. He is sweet and beautiful if you stay off and don't try to ride him. My parents bought him last year and he really needs someone to work with him. They are too old to ride a crazy horse. LOL

:)...2 to go...

I hear ya.... Tampa Bay~~Over RAY~~Ted :) go Phillies...Finish what Boston wanted to :)

OMG what an awesome game :) Those Phillies bats came alive!!!Only one more is right babbeeeeeeeeeee :)I'm glad Garza wasn't in there to pitch, his spitting causes me to wanna puke :)...Go Phillies!!!

I had to come out of private to tell you how happy I am that your Phillies won.......They did to TB what TB did to the sox...Anyway ya hooooooooooooooooooooooooo :)...I know your proud!!!

Thanks, Rockn! Beckett always appreciates compliments! Did you see the one in his new gallery with his glasses? :) Hope you have a great weekend!

BOO!!! :-)

Hi Sweetie...left this on my BLOG for you...

Rocknhorse...I agree no one compares to Freddie...but the style is more Brian, Roger, and Paul's. I thought I heard they were touring this coming Spring in the US. First time they were here we drove all the way to NJ for the Concert...only 2 dates which were NJ and California. Then they returned a couple months later which I could not attend due to my surgery.

My daughter will fess up first also. That's what I respect about her. She is so tender haerted and is usually crying about it when she calls! LOL

They were here for 2 dates in 2005...then did a bunch of tours 2006 when I had my surgery. I think the closet was in Washington DC which I could not travel to at the time. When I saw them in 2005 there were so many tears...I wore my Freddie t-shirt...the hologram of Freddie on stage was amazing...and lots of movies of Queen together. There is a DVD of the concert called Return of the Champions...rent it, buy it, or I will let you borrow it.

Do not mess with "Women from the 80's" children! LOL

just believing that you have found the place where God wants you. Dont sleep on your faith, you are called and destined to do something in this world and without you it wont get done.

Happy Halloween and AAAARRRROOOOO, AAAARRRROOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! to you!!!!!!!!!!!

Good morning! Have a fantastic Sunday. I love your song, LOL, I think I'll be singing myself next time I see a Christmas display so early on.

Hi! I used the pressure cooker analogy in explaining a concept similar to that in "Housekeeping for the Soul". So cool that you can identify with that. :)

I love the pictures. You should meet my friend. She raises Llamas. She has all kinds of critters you would enjoy.

Hi!!! Morgan is still very stuffy, but we went to the doctor and he said her lungs are clear. He thinks it's just sinuses dripping on the back of her throat and settling in her chest. Poor thing! Thankfully, nothing serious...she really scared me last night. Have a wonderful evening. {{{HUGS}}}

Thank you so much for the suggestion! Sometimes "other" products really hit the nail on the head. When my daughter was teething, a lady told me about these homeopatic tablets made by Highlands'. I was quite skeptical, but tried them anyway...they were amazing!

Hi Rockin', certainly sounds like you have your hands busy and a time crunch, to boot! Friend of mine put up one of those canvas shelters like you would use for an outside reception when she needed something in a pinch. It served it's purpose but I don't know that a plain old three sided wood shelter wouldn't be about as cheap to put up. It's not like you'd have to use the best wood since it's temporary. Good luck with it all!

Yeah, I'd love to get out of the horse business and just keep it simple with the goats and chickens but nobody in their right mind would take on my old guy, he's too high maintenance to keep alive at his age (32-34, we questimate). My mare is a different story, she'd still an excellent riding horse and a very easy keeper. But if they went, it would have to be together. Luther has a hissy fit if she's on the other side of the fence. I'm afraid he's going to give himself a heart attack!

Have a good day, Rockin'. :)

good morning!

happy friday...hope you have a great day :-)

Thanks for responding to "Fizzy" on the subject of hunting while I was at lunch. I knew there would be some moron responses, I thought there would be more than one, actually. But I appreciate all the responses I got. I actually had lunch with the SIL & GF, and told him what everyone had to say on the subject. On the way home, he bought some arrows & tips.

thx for the add. yes I'm K9 officer and animal controll officer in moore county. I'm the one who is always in the news with dogs horses and even sex offernders when they have sex with animals. frank

Thanks for the nice comments on my fall colors RH, I appreciate it! Fall is truely my favorite season. Well unless it snows, then Winter takes the number one spot! LOL ;)

Hey Rockin! The other day when I made the hunting age blog, I also wrote my friend Sam, the breeder that I bought Savannah and Magic from, and asked him what he thought. He has been hunting most of his life. He said that the best he can remember, he was about 10 years old before he was able to handle a shotgun squirrel hunting. He went with his Dad and older brother, and they taught him gun safety and to be aware of your surroundings. I asked him also because he has met my grandson, and actually took Alex out tracking cooon tracks when we were up there. Sam said that there are hunting and gun safety classes for kids now, and that is a requirement for them to get their hunting liscense. I think information like that is a good idea even if they don't go hunting. The way things go these days, a kid could end up at a friend's house, with the frined hunting the older sister's cat. Or worse.

wanted to drop by and say hi! **HUGS**

No Girl...... not to worry. You are a balanced, intelligent human being, who likes the country. I simply was not surprised to find you knew about it. I meant my comment as a compliment.

Hello Rock. Just wanted to stop by and say hello. Hope that you and family will have a terrific weekend. I truly like your profile info.

Have a great Turkey Day!!!!

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good morning Rocknhorse!!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I just looked at your image gallery to see your beautiful horses!

Happy Thanksgiving

There's a special place in my heart for paints. My first horse was a dead broke paint named Cochise...I loved that horse...he was the epitome of patience. :)

G'Mornin', Rockin', I enjoyed very much getting familiar with your horses. Your Blaze sounds like my Lucy. She requires someone with a firmer hand than mine. I'm a pushover and she knows it...not good, but not entirely horrible though. She has calmed down alot but has many miles to go. My old guy, Luther, is just a pasture ornament at this point. We've had him for about the last 8-9 years of his life and we figure he's in the neighborhood of 32-34. So far, so good with his health although he no longer can eat hay. As easy a keeper as Lucy is, Luther is just the opposite (only due to his age though). You wouldn't believe the witches brew that I have to concoct to keep weight on that horse at this point...and talk about expensive! He's so sweet though, so I don't begrudge him a bit. He would love nothing more than to be a lap-horse. When he passes though, I think we'll sell Lucy and pare down the farm to goats, chickens and bees, only.

I hope that you had a wonderful Thanksgiving with lots of good eats. I just hope that you dont have a "turkey hangover" like me. I'm sick of turkey! ('Til Christmas that is!) Have a great day!!

Hi, I found you in my research of McCrary House Movers, I met with him about doing the same job you had done.Any advice on doing this? How would you rate him overall?I would love to get some advice from you if your willing. Please email me at golfmom12001@gmail.com if you could help me.
