about rocknhorse

I've been a GOLO member for some time now and thought maybe it was time to update my profile.

As stated before, I'm a happily married mother of two wonderful kids.  Life doesn't get any better.  I am truly the luckiest person in the world to have my wonderful family!  My husband and I are self-employed and have been for 10 years.  We've had our struggles in the past, but it's the strength of our love that supports us through the tough times.

I am fortunate to have 4 horses, which I train using gentle methods.  I believe that you have to see the world through their eyes.  When you can successfully do that, then you can understand them and train them accordingly.  This philosophy works equally well when communicating with people.

I am an optimist.  Even during bad times, I seek the silver lining!  Every event, every mistake is a learning experience.  Rather than dwell on the negative, focus on the positive and don't waste the lesson!

I have been accused of being very opinionated and stubborn - neither are negative traits in my opinion!  I believe what I believe, but I'm open to other opinions.  While I may respect your opinion, that doesn't mean I'll agree.  Likewise, just because I may disagree, that doesn't mean I cannot still respect your right to your opinion.

I believe as Americans, we have been afforded the same opportunities.  Some of us took advantage of those opportunities and some did not.  Those who work to excel and to better their lives should not be held back for the benefit of those who do not!

I believe in a hand up but not a hand out!

I believe in accountability/responsibility for your actions!  Life is about choices and every action involves CHOICE!  If you make the wrong choice, you should be held accountable-no excuses!

Beauty comes from within!  It is confidence in being who you are and liking/loving that person!!!

Topics that are extremely important to me are drunk driving and anything that involves kids.  Wrecks that occur because of drunk drivers are not "accidents."  Kids need to be protected.  People who abuse kids should be dealt with in manners that I cannot state here.

Finally, I believe in honesty, but diplomacy when interacting with each other.

Welcome to my profile.  I have many pictures in my Image Gallery!  I welcome comments, thoughts, discussions and debates!

Welcome back, Rockin', just checked out your vacation pics. They were great...loved the last one. lol Now, into the home stretch with your house. Wishing you a smooth final construction. :)

Hey, Rocknhorse! I promise I didn't steal my blog idea today from your photo gallery - I posted my lighthouse pic a couple hours ago, but I just now saw your Cape Hatteras photos! Looks like you had a great vacation, even with the storms. Wish I could go back there pretty soon - it's been a couple years since I've gone to Cape Hatteras, but next time I hope to finally climb the lighthouse (now that I'm over the fear of heights deal - the Empire State Building works wonders for that). Hope you have a great Wednesday! - javajoe

For now, I upload my own pictures. I've got thousands of pictures, and all they do is sit on the hard drive taking up space. So I figured this was a good way to go through and pick the 'best'or most interesting of the bunch and do something worthwhile with them. Maybe in the future when I run out stuff, we may can get a group together to do pictures of the day - something like you post this day, this day, and this day, I post that day, that day, and that day... - javajoe

I started a group for people who want to keep track of my blogs at javajoespictureoftheday.golo.com The only reason I started the group was so I could use the group email feature to let everybody know when I post the daily blog. That should help keep everybody involved, especially since the blog posts disappear from the sidebar on the homepage after a couple of hours. Once it gets old and leaves the homepage, it basically dies. Hope you can join! - javajoe

I have kept up with all the pictures of the house you doing but I missed all the info on it. How old is it? Where did you guys find it? What made you pick that house and remodel it.

Hey honey! how's the house??

Hugs!

s

TY on the bird compliment Rock. Have a good day!

Hey! Doug and I have only been in business for 2 years. It's rough at times, but our clientele (sp?) is building, mostly by word of mouth so we must be doing something right! We live in Hillsborough and mainly work in Durham, Chapel Hill, Hillsborough, Chatham County, and basically we'll go wherever we're needed. Your restoration work is interesting and from the pics in your gallery, very good. No wonder you've been in business for 10 years. The water hit us too. Fortunately, we're able to haul about 1000 gals of our own water. Now if we could just figure out how to manufacture our own diesel, we'd be set! I too am mainly on the admin side of the business. Would love to talk to you. My email is s.meade1@embarqmail.com. Have a great Sunday!

Wow now I see why you guys are working so hard on this project. Its so cool to see the before and after pictures. Im sure that your family is happy that your keeping the house in the family. Keep the pictures comming!

That is actually Cimarron, my husband's walker. I have aa black walker named Shadow. We also have a paint named Dakota and a baby racker named Bandit. We have a farm here in Hillsborough and like you, very glad we have the acreage! Looking forward to chatting with you also!

http://www.wral.com/golo/blogpost/3393750/

It's important. Thanks!

You're blue-collar blog was totally awesome! House is looking good. I'll bet you're so glad you actually helped. What a great feeling, huh?

Thanks, rockin! {{{{ hug }}}}

Have a great week -- don't work too hard!

Thanks, I did have a great weekend! I ate some good food(barbeque ribs) and spent some time with friends and family. I hope you had a good weekend also and hope your week goes well!

'good as old!'"

I agree. The stairs are an immediate showcase as to the quality of the craftmanship in the house. Of course, back when many of the grand staircases were built, men worked for pennies a day. I agree, extra molding really "kicks it up a notch."

Thank you SO much for the info on the Nissan!

Bless your heart for thinking of me. This is just something I always wanted to do as a child and being poor and no ice rinks I never got to do. It would not mean anything to me if I was on a walker trying to ice skate. I am on such a high dose of coumidin that should I accidently cut a vein I'd probably bleed to death before anyone could stop it. Doc's have to be hospitalized so they can put me on heperin and off coumidin to have a tooth pulled for fear of bleeding to death. I was surprised yesterday at how many people thought I was upset becasue I never skated. It's just one of those things where you wished you'd tried in your younger days.

You imagine the dose your grandmother is on. That is for keeping arteries unblocked. They allow some clotting factor in those doses. Taking it for a artifical heart valve and they do not allow any clotting factor within the blood platels, so you will bleed twice as fast and bad. That is why I cannot have nerve bocks in my spine anymore to help herniated disk,,, because of hematoma. So you understand some on this stuff. Yep I will go out knowing that I never tried that ice skating, but that's ok I still enjoy watching those that can.........Have a good day. Looks like you guys will be in that house this fall.............

I really enjoyed our discussion today. This is how golo should be everyday. Thank you

/* lolly bows to rockn */

You know, with Smorgas posting his blog about his son all over again, I think we should revisit the beginning of your project. Maybe once you're ready, I can compile a gallery with every post and image galleries and just let it tell the story. What are your thoughts on that? -Angela

We can talk about it next week. I think I can compile something and make it look nice. Have a great Sunday! -Angela

Hello..... you blog brought it to my attention that it's high time I introduced myself.

There are about 3 items on my profile that will clue you in to pretty much how I think. The rest is fluff and stuff... and if you've noticed what a mouth I have and how much flirting I do, that's not all me, either. Lolly will vouch for me. I think.

I had a look at your comments about yourself and some of your photos. Looks like a great family and homelife. I live in the country and have horses all around me, but I don't own any. And my baby is 22.

Hi, I used to be up around Smithfield, Selma and Four Oaks a lot back when I was doing a lot of selling of "vintage" stuff on ebay. I have ridden by the Gardner museum dozens of times, was always on a "mission" of some kind, and never stopped. I do mean to do that sometime.

I know, I'm so unbelievably cruel for making them do chores and contribute to the household.

Our dishwasher has a name and is has a long life expectancy- the KIDS! lol

HOws your house coming along? We are moving this week and it is looking like a tornado blew through here! My kitchen is stacked with boxes. I think theres a table somewhere buried in the corner under all the boxes.

Although, my room (or the kids) has never been as clutter free as right now...lol

We start hauling boxes and whatever else we can shove in the minivan tomorrow night. saturday culminates with a pickup for the big big things (which isnt much)

Hi Rocknhorse! A hearty good evening to ya.

You should try and catch one of those Lake gaston stripers. They're 100% pure muscle fish and will make you work to get them to the boat!!! I've never been to Lake Gaston, but always wanted to. When you go this weekend, let me know if you caught any fish. That might just be all the urging I need to head that way soon!!!!

Have a great day tomorrow!

You wrote, "BTW, we have the best luck with a bleeding heart spinner bait. What do you use?"

My reply, "I catch 99% of my largemouth bass on offshore structures such as roadbeds, gravel points, and humps." This only works well during the summer months.

As far as my set up, here goes....

The baitcaster reel filled with Spiderwire Stealth 30-pound Braided line.

Next comes a one-ounce bullet weight (Bass Pro 25-pack)

Next a plastic red bead.

Then a swivel tied to the braided line using a Palamar's Knot.

Then on the other end of the swivel a 2~3 ft. leader of Stren's 12# mono line.

Then a Lazar Sharp #3 worm hook (Wal Mart)

And lastly (my secret weapon)...Gulp's 7" Turtleback worm in Cherryseed color (red)... hooked as straight as an arrow with the point just under the skin of the worm.

I never "set" the hook, but merely keep a tight line. The bass will hook himself.

Fishing offshore all the time sometimes sends me home empty-handed. But almost all the fish I catch offshore are nice fish. Hardly ever a small bass is caught in these places I fish.

I just looked at your July 4th pictures at Lake Gaston. I am IMPRESSED with them fish!!!! How much did the big bass weigh? Tell me....Tell me!! LOL!

Those fish are NICE!!! I bet your son IS hooked on fishing!!!! And your hubby, and you too! LOL!!!!!! I love your image gallery!!

lol, some of the trollies comments on that tornadoe blog are gone. i dont like to argue, nor be mean. i always try to listen to someone elses point of view and simply see where their coming from even if i dont agree. dude last night just pushed a button, lol. and no problem for defending ya, i'm sure you could handle your own, but i didnt know if you were still online or if you saw it or not...anyhow, lets go have a WONDERFUL day huh?!?! :)

Hi there Rocknhorse: I just spent the better part of an hour putting this together, but it was well worth it. I have not yet added all of your image galleries, but I will. Did you realize how many blogs you've posted? I didn't until I was gathering all of them. W-O-W!! http://www.wral.com/golo/asset_gallery/3448458/ -Angela

Hey girl I thought about you last weekend, I pressure washed my drive way and on side of my house. It took about 4 hours. Talking about my neck hurting the next day! wow. I was thinking the whole time Im doing this why? lol But after words it did look a hundred percent better! It looked brand new! Hope you have a great weekend dont work to hard!

You have a new comment on your GOLO profile. -Angela http://www.wral.com/golo/blogpost/2769848/

Is he hooked? He's hooked for life!!!!!!!! I was just like he is when I was a kid. I could fish ALL day regardless of the weather. That's awesome that he has found a hobby that he can enjoy for a lifetime. Great pictures. Great catches too!!!!

Just dropping in to say HI! ((HUGS))

I was reading something you wrote about power washing on the self-employed group blog. I have a gutter cleaning/repair company. I have many customers who are always asking me to recomend a good power washing company. I have two that I recomend now, Grimebusters and Aqua-Ken. I would love to be able to recomend your company. I too, live very near Willow Springs and of course we have the GOLO connection. If you are interested, let me know. I may have a job for you right now in Garner on Loop Road.

Three boys at a sleepover. LOL... I think that constitutes as problems... but none storm related. LOL

yea.... I've called their Mom like 3 times. LOL... and Dominick has now told me infatically that he does NOT want any siblings. I used to feel the same way as a kid.

Thanks for your comments. I appreciate the insight. He's been interviewing, but no luck so far. :-(

I love the movie "spirit"...I even have the soundtrack..hehehe..I am a kid at heart..YEs, thunder does look like Spirit in that one picture....have a great night.

Just saying bye, shuge... {{{ hug }}}

Take care. Good luck in ALL you do... *smile*

Awwwwwww ... I love Buddy!!! He is so tiny - thank you for sharing the pictures with me. How old is he? Will he grow to be much larger? And your daughter is beautiful! Never in my life have I heard of a mini-mule ... the wonders of country life. There's no place on earth that a person can really enjoy nature as much as living in the country. Makes me want to relocate sometimes ... and the first thing I'd buy would be a mini-mule!

LOL! I'm doing well. How are you doing Ms Rocknhorse? I have been on hiatus, so to speak, lol. Hope you have a great week! :)

G'Mornin', Rockin', hope you have a great friday and relaxing weekend. :)

I'ma shakin my bootay! I'm shakin it this way! Ima shakin it that way! I'm shakin it every way! Because it's Fridayyy!!!! WooHoo!!

Have a great weekend!!

Hi, and... well, thank you. Your comments tugged at my heartsrings - tugged me back to the good friends I've learned to respect and admire on GOLO.
