about rocknhorse

I've been a GOLO member for some time now and thought maybe it was time to update my profile.

As stated before, I'm a happily married mother of two wonderful kids.  Life doesn't get any better.  I am truly the luckiest person in the world to have my wonderful family!  My husband and I are self-employed and have been for 10 years.  We've had our struggles in the past, but it's the strength of our love that supports us through the tough times.

I am fortunate to have 4 horses, which I train using gentle methods.  I believe that you have to see the world through their eyes.  When you can successfully do that, then you can understand them and train them accordingly.  This philosophy works equally well when communicating with people.

I am an optimist.  Even during bad times, I seek the silver lining!  Every event, every mistake is a learning experience.  Rather than dwell on the negative, focus on the positive and don't waste the lesson!

I have been accused of being very opinionated and stubborn - neither are negative traits in my opinion!  I believe what I believe, but I'm open to other opinions.  While I may respect your opinion, that doesn't mean I'll agree.  Likewise, just because I may disagree, that doesn't mean I cannot still respect your right to your opinion.

I believe as Americans, we have been afforded the same opportunities.  Some of us took advantage of those opportunities and some did not.  Those who work to excel and to better their lives should not be held back for the benefit of those who do not!

I believe in a hand up but not a hand out!

I believe in accountability/responsibility for your actions!  Life is about choices and every action involves CHOICE!  If you make the wrong choice, you should be held accountable-no excuses!

Beauty comes from within!  It is confidence in being who you are and liking/loving that person!!!

Topics that are extremely important to me are drunk driving and anything that involves kids.  Wrecks that occur because of drunk drivers are not "accidents."  Kids need to be protected.  People who abuse kids should be dealt with in manners that I cannot state here.

Finally, I believe in honesty, but diplomacy when interacting with each other.

Welcome to my profile.  I have many pictures in my Image Gallery!  I welcome comments, thoughts, discussions and debates!

Hope you had a great weekend, have a happy monday morning!

It's Teriffic Tuesday! I hope you have a teriffic one.

Good morning and thank you for the kind words on Angela's blog!!!

Meeting you at the birthday bash was a real pleasure my friend!!!

I hope that you have a great Tuesday!!!

Where have you been? Or have I just passed you by.

Rockin keep on knocking. Hope that all is well with you too. Have a terrific week. Good to hear from you.

Oh happy day! I am leaving in a couple of hrs, and I'll be back on the 29th. Be good while I'm gone, and pray that I do not go through Golo withdrawl syndrome. Have a great day!!!

Rockn’

I was noticing in the photo that there don’t appear to be any receptacles along the left hand wall.

The NEC requires receptacles along ALL walls in the living space of a “dwelling unit” to be located so that no point, as measured along the floor line, in no further than 6 feet from a receptacle. Each section of wall more than 2’ wide is considered separately.

About kitchen countertop receptacles, same rule, except 2’ instead of 6’.

Hope this helps ...

The house is looking awesome, Rocknhorse! -Angela

Good morning Hope you have a great thursday, just one more day to the weekend! Yeaaaaaaa lol

GOOD MORNING!!!!! HUGS!

Sis, the blog is on my profile....

YOU GOT IT! My prayers are with you all day!

I'll keep your uncle in my prayers. My mother in law had 14 aneurysms and has had 2 surgeries in the past 15 mos. 8 of them have been repaired but the other 6 are small enough the doctors are watching. She came through both surgeries well, one small bump with the first but she's doing well. She's at the beach this week with her lady friends,,,can't keep her down for long.

Hello, how are YOU doing? Will continue to pray for your uncle. Your house is coming along beautifully. Can see all the hard work and love you all are putting into it. Take care.

wish i did still. stopped doing it a while back when I went back to school. I just install now for a very short while until I start my new job at UNC. Just offering some help if you needed it...my sister just had a house built with all hardwood. The guy who finished her floors did an excellent job..want his number?

: )

Hows things going? Move in date picked out yet?

It really sounds like you do have a wonderful partnership! I was just reading your comment on the home-ec handbook blog. And now reading your profile... I swear it's about mutual respect and appreciation, don't you think. I'm closer to truly having that right now with a very wonderful guy -- then I ever was in either of my marriages. I am always so tickled for those that have found that kind of partnership -- it gives me hope! :)

please go to group and vote.

ROTFL @your dad...that's my husband. I can't wait to go there though.

Thank you so much! One day at a time... ya know.

I've always liked taking care of mine, it's just so nice to finally feel appreciated, and taken care of in return. After the 13 years with one (10 married), and 5 with another (2 married) where it wasn't returned and I most definitely didn't feel appreciated, I gotta tell you this is a breath of fresh air, and I consider each day we have together a gift. :)

Have a wonderful day!

Hey! Hope things are going well for you..I know you are excited about the house. Need to throw a big housewarming so we can all meet you...

Hey,none of my buz wax but you don't need to be outside and getting as hot as you did to see spots in frount of your eyes. Not trying to meadle its just that i care about people like you and don't want to see you sick.Hope the rest of the day is good one for you:)

I'm sorry i wanted to ask about your uncle, how is he doing ? been keepiing him in my prayers.I make a list of people in need of prayer and pray for them.I added your uncle.

hello rockn' finally got a hold of my sister today and got the number to the floor guy. His name is caesar and his number is 919-201-6387. Tell him that Marion Merewether told you to call him. He did an awesome job on her house....

Sorry i thought this happened today so i'm sure you know how to take care of your self.I Worked with a lady that didn't sweat and she talked like that was bad.She said if she could sweat she would be a lot cooler.I could tell when she was getting to hot she start turning pale a round her lips well actualy her whole face.I'm sorry you have this proablem.I pray for your uncle a lot as i do for so many others, like i said i write the names down that need special prayers and i pray for them we all need praying for but some worse than others. Please keep me up dated on your uncle i do care and if i can not be there to help in any way at least God hears my prayers for others.Hope the rest of your day is a good one.

Thanks for your blog! We appreciate your perspective and the opportunity to weigh in on your questions. :-)

Oh Goodness, I am getting Remi a harness today but now that you have told me how your's gets loose, I am beginning to wonder if it will even work. Remi is an escape artist too from what my son tells me today. Aurgh. I will try one before the other. Thank you for the advice. I appreciate it. :)

Hey. How are you doing?

How is your uncle?

Ok I am on my last straw. So we just got back with the dogs. They had a ball. We went to visit family, go out to pet smart and shopped together, they picked out new toys and treats, and we finally found some harnesses that fit both of the dogs. They were delighted it seemed to be wearing the. So we get home, put the dogs back on their leashes, we observed Remi for a few minutes, saw how happy he was and turned around. BOY WAS THAT A BIG MISTAKE. By the time we go up the three steps into the back door, we saw a flash of yellow run right by us and down the driveway. Lord have mercy, we are still scratching our heads about how he got out of the harness, especially so quickly!!! I am broke, tired, extremely frustrated, and exhausted from walking the neighborhood finding Remi. And it was such a great idea. We really had fun today going out. We even went out to dinner together. *sigh*

hey rockn, we have a new member who seems to have stuff in common with you. Please say hi when you get a chance.

mornin' rock...Enjoyed your pic folders. the one with "the old shoe" made me think back to an old song of Mike Cross about an old shoe. i can't remember the words, but now I'm sitting here hummin' the tune. ;)

Old Shoe is on his Carolina Sky cd....worth trying to find...http://www.mikecross.com/discs.asp?id=8 Mike is great to listen to and if you ever get a chance to see him, he used to play with the NC Little Symphony, it's a nights worth of entertainment you'll love.

...it could have been a leprechaun's shoe? ;)

I am living in north raleigh nc. i have 2 teenage children and want to have a futre investment they can fall back on if ever needed, I hear so much about the bad side of goldsboro and then about the rehbilition,I WAN TO HELP MY FAMILY GROW ,bUT I AM SCEPTICAL RELUCTANT , wITH MY OWN INTUITON, WHAT IS YOUR OPINION

jntc - I'm not a financial advisor, so I don't feel I'm qualified to offer you advise. I would suggest you speak with a certified financial planner.

Rock'n

YOU ARE A PERFECT SIZE.

shut up!

ugh.

LOL

Love the updates!

Toy cubby, matching toy cubby....Yeah! I AM jealous.

The house is looking good. Have you decided on paint colors?

Good Morning! Oh I feel for ya. I hung sheetrock as a teenager and helped while I was pregnant. Actually, for me, it was fun. Much better than the tobacco and cucumber fields!

A guy and myself hung 76 boards one day. I was tickled! In RobCo, sheetrock hangers are known as Rockstars...hehe

OMG, I can NOT believe you said gray. We painted the dining room gray, we have a tan color tile with blue-ish gray in it. I want to do a red back splash. I don't know if you can tell too good in my pics, cause I wanted to edit out the clutter, but check out this gallery:

http://www.wral.com/golo/image_gallery/2865434/

Hang in there! From what you are saying, there is light at the end of the tunnel!

We did a big retirement complex in Raleigh when I was pregnant. Had to get up at 3 and meet everyone at 5...I was 5 months pregnant but it was nice to help out.

My cousins in Hoke/Robeson County are what you would consider experts at this. And a barrel of laughs while working.

No texture. It was a special roller. YOu have roll it on VERY LIGHTLY. I couldn't do it without leaving lines, but heavy handed hubby could. I don't remember the name of the roller, but it was sponge and it had "holes" in it. I got it at Walmart.

I painted the walls with an oil primer (I think) I told the guy at lowes I was painting over sheetrock and I got the primer he suggested...said that I could use regular latex paint, but use that primer to stop the paint from soaking thru the sheetrock.

I painted the primer and base coat. Then added some pearl glaze I had and some black paint to the grey to make it a little darker than base coat for the effect.

I just ran across your comment on my "it's me" blog from a couple weeks ago, thank you for the kind words my friend!!!

http://musicnation.com/music/nmusiccity/when-you-come-home-jessies-song

Hi Hun! Sure hope to meet you in October...We have too much in common!!

Here are the details of the birthday bash... http://www.wral.com/golo/blogpost/3310285/

Hi Rock...think of me while you're gone!!! I'm so envious!!!!

We had a bird nest in our fifth wheel, twice!!!!!! That's better than a wasp nest!!

Have you some fun with your family, my goodness, you all deserve it!! Sip your coffee, listen to the gulls, and people watch. My kind of morning!!

Catch you when you get back...oh..and pictures!

Hey Rockin', don't want to heap more on you to think about on your vacation but what you were describing in you blog as your preferred color choice for you bedroom just hollers out to me, faux finish. I did that, to an antiqueing (wow, that doesn't even look spelled right but you know what I mean) ;) effect in my dining room...took me three weeks to do it but it looks fabulous. It was so simple to do, just time consuming. If you're interested I'll tell you how. But not until you get back from vacation! Have fun. :)

Hey Rocknhorse!! I just loved your beach pictures. You got me wanting to go there now!!! And that funnel cloud..wow! I bet that was scary. I've never seen one in person, and NO desire to see one either. Anyway, thanks for sharing your vacation pictures for I enjoyed looking at them a lot. Hope you're doing well....
