about rocknhorse
I've been a GOLO member for some time now and thought maybe it was time to update my profile.
As stated before, I'm a happily married mother of two wonderful kids. Life doesn't get any better. I am truly the luckiest person in the world to have my wonderful family! My husband and I are self-employed and have been for 10 years. We've had our struggles in the past, but it's the strength of our love that supports us through the tough times.
I am fortunate to have 4 horses, which I train using gentle methods. I believe that you have to see the world through their eyes. When you can successfully do that, then you can understand them and train them accordingly. This philosophy works equally well when communicating with people.
I am an optimist. Even during bad times, I seek the silver lining! Every event, every mistake is a learning experience. Rather than dwell on the negative, focus on the positive and don't waste the lesson!
I have been accused of being very opinionated and stubborn - neither are negative traits in my opinion! I believe what I believe, but I'm open to other opinions. While I may respect your opinion, that doesn't mean I'll agree. Likewise, just because I may disagree, that doesn't mean I cannot still respect your right to your opinion.
I believe as Americans, we have been afforded the same opportunities. Some of us took advantage of those opportunities and some did not. Those who work to excel and to better their lives should not be held back for the benefit of those who do not!
I believe in a hand up but not a hand out!
I believe in accountability/responsibility for your actions! Life is about choices and every action involves CHOICE! If you make the wrong choice, you should be held accountable-no excuses!
Beauty comes from within! It is confidence in being who you are and liking/loving that person!!!
Topics that are extremely important to me are drunk driving and anything that involves kids. Wrecks that occur because of drunk drivers are not "accidents." Kids need to be protected. People who abuse kids should be dealt with in manners that I cannot state here.
Finally, I believe in honesty, but diplomacy when interacting with each other.
Welcome to my profile. I have many pictures in my Image Gallery! I welcome comments, thoughts, discussions and debates!

Yes, there ARE such things as accidents. But when someone is unfamiliar with the area at which they are playing, they need to scope the area to make sure there are not hazzards first. I realize some people, particularly young people, do not think of these things. But the fact is, it was their responsibility. I am sorry that someone got hurt. And yes, I've done things w/o thinking first and gotten hurt. But I take responsibility for it myself and I don't blame others for my lack of considering the conditions and consequences of my actions.

But is a horse trying to be the alpha male? That's the difference. The officer has to establish that he is the alpha male, not the dog. From what I hear from K9 officers and a trainer, it isn't done without some force. I think the trooper went over the line, but normal police K9 training is still intense.

Absolutely! Although it's more often Alpha Mare! And when training, you MUST exert yourself as the Alpha mare or the horse (who weighs 1000+ lbs) will run all over you! Horses can be bullies and very pushy-which coming from an animal of that size, can be very dangerous if you don't establish your boundaries and assert yourself.
I've seen some people tie their horses up so tight that they can't move their heads (comparable to the officer tying the dog up w/only his back feet touching the ground). They 'handle' the horse to force it into submission. This method 'might' work for some, but that horse becomes a ticking time bomb. I don't trust horses trained using these 'old school' methods. Horses trained with confidence are more willing.
I'm not saying don't be firm. That's necessary. But hanging the dog to discipline? That's beyond firm.

Someone decided Irish Setters needed to be longer..... finally it was to the point they were breaking their spine. They kept overbreeding Labs, Shepards.... hip dysplasia - horses have just been next.

She thinks I am posting a blog to help sell her car. She needs that car ESPECIALLY for prenatal care, a job etc!!
Now is not the time to ask anyone for help but I figured there has got to be someone here that may have some baby items for her. I would HATE to be in her position.
Hey, hows my horse doing?????????????????????????????????????

If you know someone looking for post and 11 ga. high tensil wire - I am taking the fence out of the pasture. I have the crimper, post ( don't know how many I would consider good ) although they are treated - 3 gates ( two that I built (metal) and another I bought). A water trough - prob. fiberglass and there is about a mile of fence. I also have the spring tensions, and a new spool of wire with the spooler. I have at least 1 or 2 new electric boxes if I can find them ( I never installed them ) and there may be some insulators and whatever. That 11 ga. wire is good stuff.... takes a little maintainace but it is there. If you know some one interested I should have it down in a day or two and let you know exactly what I have. Thanks, Shine.

Moronic opinion eh? I think you should apply that to yourself. Also, who cares how you feel about who someone else loves. Do you and I'll do me. Your words never hurt me *sticks out tongue* LOL. GA FAN is the one that will get his. You can't live in this world with a mentality like yours and experience true happiness! Trust me! That's the truth!! And do not lie on me about bringing up race all the time. How dare you wag your nasty finger and me and say that. LOL. Thank you! I just pray that dog gets adopted. The ad starts in The News & Observer tomorrow and runs thru Sun., so hopefully, a lot of people will see it! We are going to see him today, at the shelter.
Hope you have a great day! {{hugs}] Beth
