You're making me homesick with that blog, even if it is about an Afghani restaurant.

;)

What else have you and Sheba been doing up there? Have you gone by the new stadiums?

Thanks Smorg, I will let Dulce know.

;)

get it?

I would be interested in the chaplain position. I am not working at the moment

Three boys are in the school yard bragging about their fathers. The first boy says, "My Dad writes all day. He scribbles a few words on a piece of paper, he calls it a POEM, they give him $50!"

The second boy says, "That's nothing. My Dad writes all day too! He scribbles a few words on a piece of paper, he calls his a SONG, they give him $100!"

The third boy says, "I got you both beat. My Dad also writes all day. He scribbles a few words on a piece of paper, he calls his writings SERMONS. He reads them in church, and it takes EIGHT MEN to collect all the money!!!"

Dont say that Con Amor did'nt make you smile today! Have a great day!

"Damm your arrogance, sir!"

You're going to figure me out someday smorg - hope it's soon...

I am against the death penalty - our Judaical system is so very imperfect.

but this case will make you lose your religion, it was horrific

Hey....Question.

Lolly taught me how to make a link in my blog. However we have been unsuccessful in helping me make a link that I can "name". I use google Chrome on every computer I have access to.

Any advise would be appreciated, if you have any.

I just wanna be able to make a "link thingy" that says such ;)

= phail.

I dunno what it is about my pop up window, but I cannot do a thing with it. It pops up, and that's the end of that. i cannot cut, paste, remove, or do anything with the addy already in the pop up box. Thanks for the tips. Maybe I will figure out what way to hold my mouth shortly!

"Your proctologist called. They've found your head."

Thanks, I'll store that one away. So many clueless individuals, so little time.....

Smorg ( and the Glorious Sheba), my not-grandpa lost his parents, aunts, uncles and sisters in Osweciem ( Auschwitz). I had one german, one norwegian, one swedish and one Irish great grandparents, my dad's family is Czech/Swiss..I have travelled all over the planet..

I feel at home everywhere in the world...

You and Sheba are the best. BTW, made the Potato soup. OMG.. Pardon my French...Orgasm in a bowl...( no offense meant)

I guess you're right. To those that know who she is, this isn't exactly a revelation.

Hey Baby

Just when I thought the Trabant was the ugliest car I have ever seen, here comes the Fiat Scoiattolo here to make the Trabant look downright PURTY in comparison!!

Hugs to you and Sheba and THANKS for the Scoiattolo! BTW made the Potato soup recipe...yummy tater goodness!! ( I did use velveeta cheese though...))((so I cheated))

Thanks!!

I use velveeta in my broccoli and leek soup. It's yummy...

Smorg,

Not many of these 'kids' remember Burma Shave.....

Sad, but true ....

Len (aka STS)

sounds good smorg. pass me the info again..it got deleted when I cleaned house. and would it be ok if I pass your name to them for a recommendation??? If drop me an email cause I dont know your name...pvt4jc@hotmail.com I was reading the qualifications for the position on the state sight. They want 4 units of CPE now. I wonder if they would cut me slack on that one. I only have 1 unit...

I love your sense of humor!

((Hugs)) and hope you are having a great day!

Trick or treat!

"Next on Ghost Hunters...."

Smorg, I hate to admit this, but I don't get it.

Well I am very excited for you. YOu could actually get to meet some pretty famous people and definatley entertaining!

Just a 'good morning' and thanks for your input on the tankless water heater blog!

Terri

It would appear that Angela found a way to get rid of me at the behest of her close personal friend (I'm sure that needs no further explanation to be clear.) This place really has become Animal Farm ...

"Read this, Prom.

Leave your 'you hate america and our troops' comments on my profile after you read the link below.

I look forward to your wisdom, insight, and inspiration for my future definition of 'patriotism' after you do so."

You are without doubt the most intellectually dishonest poster on goLO.

NONE of what you imply above has anything to do with me, my positions or beliefs, or any of my comments.

PAX EGRESS

I just don't understand his issue. His lack of tolerance for any thing other than his own thoughts totally baffles me. His hostility is amazing. He is an angry person.

"So, only those that wore the uniform get to be your friends, Prom? Even if 'friend' means "I respect your opinion, even if I disagree"?

Interesting concept. "

No - not a "concept" - a strawman argument - a distortion of the truth regearding my stance on the argument - colloquially called a lie.

I find that liars are not my "friends"...

We're done - or at least I am.

Check behind you...you have a stalker!

I have never really noticed his being reasonable. It always seems to be his way or your wrong. Now, though, he seems angrier than usual. Strange.

And your stalker was commenting about you on his profile....she seems to do that a lot, rather than commenting directly. Strange.

Hi Smorg, there's a long story behind me & the Forrestal. There were 17 of us, in transit, on an oiler en route to refuel Forrestal & we sailors were to to be high-lined across. Our rendezvous day was the same day She blew up, we were only a few miles away so we could hear the bombs going off. Nobody knew what started the fire so we were ordered back to Subic Bay, PI. We were one day ahead of the "Stall" getting there but that was where the other hell began. When She came in, still burning, we had to man fire hoses 24/7 for two days until is was safe for us to be checked in. (we were checked in @ 2 AM, 8/3/67) My first job assignment was to man more hoses & look for bodies & body parts. The whole back third of the ship was totally burned all the way down to the 7th deck. The stench made us all physically ill, that smell stayed with us for weeks. Little did I know all this would haunt me to this day. Its very hard to describe all this...I'll send you the rest soon..has to do w/body bags

Back again Smorg, before deploying the Philippines, we offloaded a large no. of body bags, some were unusually light. The whole thing was making everybody puke....all those bags were lined up in hangar bay three, they took up a large area....it was like being in Hell to say the least. (134 men died in that fire.) On our trip home (Aug 11 - Sept 14) was 12 to 14 hrs a day "cleaning up". No telling how much stuff we threw over the side during that time. Hundreds of sailors had no bunk to sleep in (including me), about 1 1/2 hrs to get something to eat. Opening hatches down below was horrifying, we didn't know what we'd find doing that. We'd all say a prayer just b 4 pulling up the hatch. Thankfully, almost every one of them were just full of water so then the pumping set up came to be. Geez, we found bits of guys burned to a crisp in the passageways b 4 we left BTW. These things went into body bags...no telling who they belonged to. IDK where those BBs went.(cont)

Its hard to imagine the aftermath of tragedies like this. Parts of guys were put into the freezers on the way home....that's right, food was kept there too. Heck, those 33 straight days @ sea alone was enough to run you crazy. To add insult to injury, back in the States, whenever we left to ship in uniform, many people glared down @ us. esp in bus stations & airports. It was like we were responsible for the war in Vietnam. I, along w/ a least half the crew, hated that war w/ a passion but I did my duty....we all did! This Cruse Book I have is full of pics of good times & bad....many pics of bombs going off and sailors with faces of horror. BTW, we were close enough to the "Stall" on the day of the fire to hear the bombs going off. Those 1000 lb bombs (7 of 'em) blew 20' holes in the flight deck (2" steel) and down to the overhead of the 5th deck. She really should have laid over & sank. You should see these pics! (cont)

I'm sorry if I jump around but thoughts come to mind in pieces.

She took a 23 degree port list, if it had been a starboard list, she would have gone down due to the Island being on the starboard side. By the time we got to the US we were all crazy! We started a bar room, bottle throwing, brawl in Jacksonvelle that got about 50 of us thrown in the brig overnight. That fight could have really gotten out of hand had the Jarhead MP's not stopped it. Its still like a dream, a very bad nightmare, I still have them.

BTW, on manning the hoses "24/7" on the pier in Subic, we did have relief every hour or so. We would sneek off to try & catch a short nap too, if possible. There's more but I feel I've probably bored you enough.....catch you later.

Asking a favor...could you pls leave this up a day or two, I'm writing this for "brat is Kestrel" too. I've asked her to go to your profile to read this.

Oh WOW!!! What a wonderful thing! Thank you so much for sharing the link. I hope you and Sheba are having a delightful weekend. :)

Thanks for the new avatar, I am using it now!! I just got home from Atlanta, where, God help us all, we had the memorial service for Mike's cousin and his wife, who disappeared from Hilton Head last year. I have never been to a service where there was uh...no person to bury. It was all very Twilight Zone, between all the news and the TV people out there. Freaky. Hugs to you and the gorgeous, glorious Sheba!!!
