about smorgas_of_borg
Instead of trying to say who and what I am in this profile, I will simply post some things that have crossed my mind in thought, or on stickers or in print or overheard that may indicate why my brain seems to operate unlike those of other folks.
(this profile subject to change as more stuff gets stuck in my head)
Neurological Flatulence
At an early age I knew that I could never be part of any organized religion. That is why I became an Episcopalian.
Coincidence is when God wishes to remain anonymous.
It has always struck me as ironic that Jesus was a carpenter and ended up nailed to a board.
If God had intended for us to be naked, we’d have been born that way.
If you want to make God laugh, just tell him your plans.

Pay no mind to those who talk behind your back. That just means you are two steps ahead.
People who lack the strength to be themselves are always trying to tear down those who do.
Ascend until your wings catch fire.
It is better to be hated for what you are than to be loved for what you are not.
I’d rather be a failure at something I love than to be a success at something I hate.
People too weak to follow their own dreams will always find a way to discourage yours.
I have chosen this path, not to fit a mold; Not to join a trend; Not to follow a crowd; But because it is right for me.
It is better to be an open sinner than to be a false saint.
The primary problem with America is stupidity. Maybe we should just take all the warning labels off and let the problem solve itself.
It takes money to drink liquor and ride on the train.
A cigarette, as defined by my mother: A fire on one end and a fool on the other.
Truth inscribed on a club, which is then used to beat people up randomly, teaches nobody anything. No matter how much I might like to test the theory.
Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer. [Psalm 19:14]
... and what does the LORD require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God? (Micah 6:8)
To those who have never seen the flow and ebb of God's grace in their lives, it means nothing. To those who have seen it, even fleetingly, even only once - it is life itself. (Adeodatus)
It's more important to be kind than to be right
“Your world is not the obviously right and true one just because you say it is.” - Archbishop Rowan Williams

An architect, an artist and an engineer were discussing whether it was better to spend time with the wife or a mistress. The architect said he enjoyed time with his wife, building a solid foundation for an enduring relationship. The artist said he enjoyed time with his mistress, because of the passion and mystery he found there. The engineer said, "I like both."
"Both?"
Engineer: "Yeah. If you have a wife and a mistress, they will each assume you are spending time with the other woman, and you can go to the lab and get some work done."

I just ordered his latest and some Dietrich Bonhoeffer. Have never read Bonhoeffer, have always wanted to.
I got tickled at myself forgetting the name of Mere Christianity, it really is one of my favorites. Old age stinks :-)
