T-man - "OR we can invest more money into finding renewable resources to depend on instead of basing our entire economy on a rapidly disappearing liquid, which happens to be controlled by our enemies."

So do you have the magic alternative recipe? Who is going to pay for the research if the economy is ruined? If we wait around for your magic beans to grow we will be in a depression.

Hey...did I miss you today at the GOLO thingy...or did you not make it...I wanted to meet my favorite lib.... :)

Hey T-Man...I was thinking about you earlier today. I read an article on MSN and it talked about the new words that were being added to the dictionary and pescatarian was one of them. I am not sure I spelled it right but guess what? I am a pescatarian. Now I am sure since I had no luck finding a black male vegetarian that I will have no trouble finding one that is a pescatarian. LOL...what do you think? LOL

I have been called many things but never a converter..LOL..I will do my best. And then again, I wouldnt care if my boo ate meat. As long as he understood I wouldnt. It would be all good. I cant really cook it either. If he wanted to pay for the classes for me to learn I am open. Wish me luck on my journey! LOL..Have a great day!

Your wife sounds like a strong woman. It is not an easy task changing the eating habits of a man. It is darn near almost impossible! LOL..

T-Man. In kindergarten in Florida, my daughter had one composition book that was a poetry book, another that was an art book and two more for other topics. -Angela

You are from Union County, eh? I noticed that on your blog comments concerning Jesse Helms. Me too! Whereabouts?

Born and raised in Marshville. Graduated from Forest Hills and NC State. I've tried to stay out of the Jesse Helms blogs because I have feelings both ways for the man; no need to comment.

I've been by it a few times. I don't think it was finished until I was in high school or maybe after I went to college; I can't remember.

LOL

Hey T-Man,

Thanks for the note. I have tried carpooling in the past but found that my schedule is not that "car pool friendly". I've reached the point where I usually drive in no more than 3 days a week. I won't say never and if prices keep rising I may rethink but for now my current bus/telecommute technique appears to be working OK.

Thanks

Kevin

Mornin' T-Man! Happy to get the handshake. :-)

Thanks for the add. I was just about to do the same to you.

Thanks for the add. Glad to have some help in these discussions. :)

" Please take my picture off of your blog. Thanks! "

LOL !!!! Have a good weekend

Dude....you SERIOUSLY need to get out more....yep, I most definitely think so... :)

Hi T-Man, lol, my wife wears the coin but its not worth 7 mil....nowhere near it. I checked it out on the internet...its value is somewhere in the range of $2100.00 to $2400.00 depending on the condition. Its insured for $2400. My dad collected rare coins and old paper money.

"If that is your answer, then YOU sir, are part of the problem!"

Nice wildly flung and baseless accusation...got anything of substance to back your "argument"?

Yeah, I didn't think so.....

"There are plenty of way for us to decrease our dependence on oil, they just require us to alter our lives a little bit at a time."

Agreed. That was not my argument to begin with - Oil is the current basis of energy that is MOST important. The revenues generated from our domestic oil production would stimulate the economy in ALL areas. Job creation, lower fuel costs, increased cash flow (real cash flow not some government stimulus), and even increased tax revenues. There really is no down side, despite the chest clutching alarmism of the evironmentalist extremists.

I might join tomorrow...

That's the attitude! LOL!

:-)

Beth

You're right,,I did forget about Montessorri and others like that. I was thinking in more general terms. My apologies. However, the public school's preschool does not offer that type of curriculum. It is more geared towards the social skills area, as is most of the other preschools. The reason I say this is because I fight the state on my curriculum everytime I have a state inspection or an assessment that rates my quality. I'm gigged if they see that I try to teach anything academic.

I agree. The only difference is the EOG's and teaching to the tests so much of the time. I think teach the grade's material, then pass or fail. But so much requires parental involvement and that is a big part of what is lacking

How much does that usually cost? I'll look into that.

Well that's about $200-300 more per month than I pay now, but I can swing it. Yes, let me know of some good ones in the N. Raleigh/Six Forks area! Thanks!

There goes my Dooney & Bourke's...J/K!

I'm glad it worked for you. The parents that I know that use Montessori either LOVE it or HATE it. No in between.

Personally, I'm not a big fan of one specific type of learning style. I prefer to get to know the child and assist the child in learning in the way that particular child learns best. I can do that because I have a small group. I also frustrate the state quite often due to the fact they can not pin me down to one style of learning,,,lol

I am also glad to see that you are helping IDC. That is why there are so many different styles out there because there are so many different types of people. I wish sometimes the state would recognize that. That we don't have to have just ONE,,,variety is the way to go and every home daycare or center or preschool needs to look the same to be quality.

grrrr,,get me on my soapbox again.

Thanks, though, for such a wonderful discussion. It so often turns into ugliness. It's refreshing

Okay, T-Man. You're right. Let me see if i can figure out how to fix that. We need that!

Okay, here's how it works. I have it set up so that any amount you enter, will include results equal to and less than that amount. So go ahead and give it another whirl. -Angela

Let me know if you encounter any other issues. I will be tweaking that tool for some time. -Angela

:) on the original Olympics. I also read somewhere that married women weren't allowed to view the competitions...all that swinging going on on the fields could have been too much for them to take. For real.

"I posted the original "stupid" blog to poke fun at the old man, just like everyone likes to do with Obama. In all honesty, I can't wait until after the election so I won't have to keep hearing about these two all day, everyday!"

Surely, you dont believe this madness will end? We will have a blog about one or both of them everyday for the rest of our GOLO lives..LOL..I truly believe that! Good afternoon to you. Hope you are having a good day!

Hello my wonderful friend! I have been so busy lately with my crazy life. One day I hope to be back a little more! I don't want you to think I have forgotten you! ! ! I hope you are doing well! Take care.

My office number: 493-3982 ...Lee

great work on the savings for Retirement! If you ever have questions or change jobs, let me know!

I was just on TallWillow's profile in regards to a group and saw your comment about a baby that was 10 pounds 5 ounces..yours? I was just curious because my first was 10 pounds 4 ounces and it's not everyday you see someone else's baby close in size.

I didn't have gestational diabetes, I have a husband that is 6ft 4 inches tall, 235 pounds ( little heavier now that he's no longer 82nd Airborne...lol). My first was 10 pounds, 4 oz and 23 1/2 inches long. According to doctors at Tripler Army Medical Center in Hawaii, he was an 8 pound baby so I had him naturally.

My 2nd was exactly 1 pound and 1 inch smaller. Military docs had estimated him at 7 pounds

My 3rd was 9 pounds 11 oz and just under 23 inches long. This time the doctor on call the day I went into labor asked me how much I thought the baby weighed. I said,,just under 10 pounds, even though the military ob clinic had him estimated at just under 8 pounds. When he was born, the doctor said, "you sure nailed that one"

Now I have very tall teenagers

5 is a fun age. Has he started kindergaten? I want 5 back. My middle son (age 16) is so easy. Helpful, respectful, wonderful grades, has a part time job, runs cross country. My oldest is 19 and he was until about a year ago and he's lost his mind. Hormones? My youngest is almost 12 and has hit puberty. I hate puberty

oh my,,,lol. Most of the children I send to kindergarten are also reading, writing, and doing simple math. (score one for home daycares and boo on the state for telling me all activities need to be child directed, huh?) so I know that this can be particulary frustrating for children and parents. What I work with my parents and the teachers (I'm active in PTA so I know many of the local teachers) is to keep the children in the kindergartent setting for social development but to allow them to work with 1st grade reading groups. One of my little guys started kindergarten this year and scored at the end of 1st grade reading level so when they break up into reading groups, he reads with the 1st grade. The teachers also usually have access to computers in the classroom and the students can work on more difficult concepts in math and reading on the computer. Kindergarten teachers are typically used to dealing with a wide range of abilities. Talk to the teacher and see what she can do

picked up a book and was reading? Oh my,,how awful! You better watch out, seems you have a little juvenile delinquent on your hands (joking)

Probably the teacher felt that he wasn't participating in what is meant to be a group activity. The purpose with Circle Time is to help with socialization skills, so if he were reading he wasn't socializing. Being an avid reader myself and much prefering books to groups,,,,I can sympathize with your son.

Talk to the teacher about your concerns. Whatever you do, though, do not use the word BORED. OMG,,,teachers for some unknown reason do not like that word. In all of the college classes I've been taking lately, the teachers ALL complain when a parent uses that word. So some of us that are childcare providers as opposed to teachers (and of course, we're parents too) started asking how else to phrase it. Use the word "challenge". Ask the teacher about how to better challenge your child.

I didnt' mean to offend you on T-Medlin's blog this morning. I don't know how old you are, but "E" was a grade, when I was in school (elementary). I know that most people say "A" for effort, and I did that on purpose. Thanks for noticing it. I'm a Christian, as well, but I guess I "debate" for who I think is best for this country, as you do for who you think is best. That doesn't make either of us wrong, we are standing up for what we believe. Have a good day.

Your comment on the latest "Phoney Palin" picture blog is spot on, IMHO. I'm surprized it is still up.

Thanks man, truth be told, it's not that I oppose Obama as a candidate, I just have severe reservations in casting my vote in his favor. I don't beleive in mud slinging or perpetuation of lies, as there is MORE than enough dirt that can be dug up on anyone, let alone a presidential candidate... I don't need it shoveled on to me... I have another blog that shows that all the mud that can be slung is already out there, everyone has skeletons in their closet, Obama is certainly no different and he, nor any other candidate, should be judged on their validity over purely personal matters that have nothing to do with the political landscape. ( http://www.wral.com/golo/blogpost/3581479/ )

be sure to check out the video on the Palin family, it may seem like an attack, but it's really just to drive home the "keep family out of it" position I hold.

You did help me a lot on understianding some of this economy stuff. I'm frightened what affect it will be having on our children since I have retired. I don't think they have much of a future these days ahead. I was lucky enough to come up in a time when jobs were a dime a dozen. I was stupid enough not to take advantage of it.

I appreciated it anyway. you helped a lot. I know zilch about today's world economy because when I came along we only had to worry about the things involving the USA, and things were done in a more moral society. I didn't even know Fannie Mae was a government backed program until this mess broke out.I always like to learn things though..

That's cool about your brother. My female is protection trained for me. We're expecting puppies in November and I can't wait! :) We love all of our dogs, but especially the mals.

I read your comment in my Jordan Lake blog. That is awesome that you are going out there this weekend. May I suggest you take your camera and get some photos of the worst? (If you have one). I will be going out there this weekend too (I think). If I do, I'll let you know beforehand. Please don't be overwhelmed with the volume of trash (and work) that awaits. This won't be cleaned up by just a few or in just a day......
