Coupled with electronic diagnostic stuff, jacks, hoists, lifts, strut machine, the list could go one.....
Craftsman by far is the leader in the DIY department, and I would say a good percentage of my hand tools are Craftsman. Their selection gets better every year, and they stay up with some nifty gadget tools.
Not to mention their un-limited lifetime guarantee.
I have found the harder I plan on working a tool, the more likely a cheap one will fail. And the lighter the requirement, the less money I have to spend.
That's the short answer...LOL

This may be a complicated thought process, let's See if I can grind it out.
When there were many stay at home moms, we could afford to let kids roam the neighborhood. If anything happened to the kid - a concerned mom was likely to be nearby.
Tax laws forced moms into the work force. ( Although some women had always chosen to work, in the early & mid 20th century, it was not the norm.)
As fewer moms were around the neighborhood, we as a nation became more leery of letting the kids have their freedom to "just play outside."
So in a way, our nation's income redistribution policy, has robbed our kids of a healthy, outdoor, neighborhood childhood.
I wonder if the social gain, was worth the social cost?
