I think I'm going to walk downstairs real quick and get in on some of this newsroom staring, as soon as Bill gets off the air. Don't go anywhere, Brian!

Wow...I just realized how creepy the news really is...All these people sitting at a desk...and staring at me...No more news in bed for me...I feel like perhaps I have been to lenient in what I am wearing during the morning news...you should have said something instead of staring...lol...Don't worry it will all change starting tomorrow...

Bill, your my favorite! Keep up the good work.

See, Bill! I told you creating a profile was easy!

"Hey, Bill. I'm staring at you right now in the newsroom" Brian.

wow brian- thats special. Thats just like when I IM (instant message for some people who are behind on technology...) somebody right next to me...

Nick, I have to send emails to the people who sit all around me all the time that something is on our shared drive at work. I love emailing the lady who sits right next to me instead of saying hey I got these up now.

haha- omg, same at school. I'll be in class and so instead of paper notes (they're so clumsy and non-conspicuous) we just IM each other. Its awesome especially when you get the whole class in a chat room.

Your music is great...I had the pleasure of hearing you when you were the emcee at the STARS on Stage for Garner Education Foundation. Where can your CD's be purchased...or better yet, do you have a site where they can be downloaded to an ipod?

Hi Jasmine, Thanks for your kind words. I appreciate your blogs. As for the music I have a website: billleslie.com or you can find digital links to my music at http://cdbaby.com/cd/lesliebill3

All the best to you and your lovely family,

Bill Leslie

I enjoy your music Bill, so if you want to use any of that in a song, I would be honored. When I was in Kansas and would come home for a visit, we would be circling RDU and I would look down and see all those trees. It always got me choked up.

Nice profile Bill, my wife and I have enjoyed your music and reporting for years. By the way William Wallace is a distant relative of mine, decsending back on Farris side of my family.

Good morning Bill. This link will take you there:http://wral.com/golo/blogpost/1653390/

You can also go to my GOLO page and look at the top where it has different categories & select blog & pull up any that I have written. Thanks for asking Bill!

Hi Bill... just wanted you to know that I look forward to your blog each day. It's the first one I read!

Thanks Bill! I appreciate your taking time to read it & comment. Hope your having a great day!

Hello bleslie,

I'm kinda late getting here but I am a great fan of WRAL News and yours.

Good Morning Bill!

I have a new blog posted about a holiday we celebrate in my hometown Paducah,Ky. Let me know what you think.

http://wral.com/golo/blogpost/1680999/

Bill, I want to thank you for your comment about my lost grandmother post. It was sweet of you to care enough to send me a message. I enjoy reading your blogs. They are the first thing I check after the headlines. I tried again to send my addition to the golden summer blog and it still won't take it. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. Thanks so much again for enriching our lives with such wonderful topics!

I see your daughter's a teacher! I've taught second grade for going on 12 years now. I'd like to recommend a book that she will love. It's called, 32 Third Graders and One Class Bunny- Life Lessons From Teaching by Phillip Done. I read it at the beginning and end of each year. Also whenever the pressure starts to get too heavy. It reminds me why I absolutely LOVE my job.

Legs - You are the best! I'm calling Alison Krauss right now!

Thanks Bill... I was a country music disc jockey back in the early 80's... guess it rubbed off on me! Some of the lyrics can be really corny.

Hey Bill ... just posted the first selection for the GOLO Book Club at www.wral.com/golo/blogpost/1698261/. Hope you'll be able to participate!

Hey Bill have you read this poem I wrote yet? You being a song writer & musician I would love to have your opinion of it.

http://wral.com/golo/blogpost/1692378/

Good Night Frum Cuzin Lukey Love what you do. Especially about music.

Good morning Bill! You got my wife Toni attention this morning with the "Topless Carwash" story. We both had a good laugh. I hope you have a wonderful day my friend.

BTW where is the best place buy your CD's?

hi bill :)

Bill, I have an idea for one of your great blogs..... Why don't you do an "unoffical" Who's your favorite craftsman at the Village of Yesteryear at the NC State Fair. The fair is right around the corner. You could ask your viewers/readers to tell who is their favorite and why and then you could go over to the the Village on the last Sunday and present a surprise token award from Wral-TV viewers to the favorite. Just a suggestion. It would give a your viewers a reason to actually stop and chat with the craftsman as they browse/buy the wonderful stuff that is for sale in there.

Hey Bill. Good job with the Bunn jokes this morning. My license plate is FUN N BUN so you definitely got a laugh from me. Come out to Lake Royale sometime, we'll showing you what having fun in Bunn is all about!

GO Heels!!!!!!!!!!!!

thank you bill, i hope you have a great day as well!

Bill, Once on a trip down south as a child we stopped at a gas station to use the rest room. There was a sign on the women's room door that said, "Out of Odor." Mis-spelled warning or advertising? Ha Ha!

Bill, my husband and I looked forward to the annual Christmas Parade every year. One year our son Bruce dressed up like a turkey and rode his bicycle. He won first prize and he was so proud. We never missed taking both of our children to the parade. We always parked at Warren Distributing Corporation on Glenwood Avenue because that is where my husband worked. We then hauled our blankets up to Hillsborough Street and snuggled all together to enjoy the parade. Our son will never forget winning the best in show when he rode his bike dressed up like a turkey. Have a good one.

My favorite Christmas parade memories were those of the year's the Greater Raleigh Merchants Association allowed our students to perform. We have been a part of the parade for the last 10 years and we were turned down this year even after registering back in June. We were told that with so many entries, only Wake County had top priority for the event. It is a shame that "merchants" do not want "out of Wake county" business. We usually brought a lot to the area when we traveled with our band and parents. We have other parades to do of course, but it was something special to my students to be the only band from our area to be on WRAL. We made a name for ourselves.

Mr. Leslie, hope you are doing well and that you and your family have a great Thanksgiving weekend. I have put together a meet and greet with a bunch of Golo Members to help a very good friend of mine in need ; http://www.wral.com/golo/blogpost/2023439/

In speaking with one of the boys teacher at Wilson Mills Elementary School, I mentioned what I was doing to try to help this family in great need. She asked me I personally knew anyone from WRAL in which I don’t. Since I see you’re the popular one today on here, I am giving this a shot. This is what they are looking for;

Career Day will be March 14th from 9:00-12:00 and we provide a luncheon. Each participant will have a table set up for them to present to one group of 5th graders at a time in the gym. The students would be ecstatic to have someone from WRAL! If you have anyone interested please have them e-mail me their address and I will mail a formal invitaion. Thank you!

If you know ANYONE from WRAL that would like to

Bill, love your music and news reporting! Keep up the good work (on both topics)! Go Heels!

I have a great pecan chocolate chip pie recipe!

1 Deep Dish Pie Pan 1/3 cup butter 1 cup of sugar 1 cup light Karo syrup 4 eggs 1 teaspoon of vanilla 1 pinch of salt 1 cup of semi sweet chocolate chips 2 cups of pecans

Mix melted butter and sugar together and then follow with the following ingredients. Cook pie on a cookie sheet for 1 hour and 15 min on 325. Cover with foil after 30 minutes.

Try this one, Bill.

AG

Bill, I have a recipe for pecan pie that is sure to please. It comes from a saint in my church who passed on acouple of years ago. 1 lb. box light brown sugar 2 Tbsp.vanilla extract 4 eggs 2 Tbsp. water 1 stick butter (softened) 2 Tbsp.plain corn meal Pinch of salt 2 cups chopped pecans Put all above ingredients(except pecans) in mixing bowl and mix well. Fold into this mixture the 2 cups of chopped pecans.Divide this and pour into two 9 inch unbaked pie crusts. Bake at 325 degrees for about 45 minutes or until firm. Mmmm mmmm good!!

This is from a website I've used. I found that zapping the pecans in the microwave keeps them from being chewy. Spread them on a paper towel and cook on High for 1 min. Flip 'em and do it again, total of 3 times.

"Most pecan pie recipes I've found call for 2 cups of sugar - one cup of corn syrup plus one cup of either granulated or brown sugar - which results in pies so sweet they can give you a sugar headache after a couple of bites. This pecan pie recipe has less sugar than most, but the molasses, butter and vanilla bring out the wonderful flavor of the pecans. As with any nut used in cooking, use only the freshest of pecans."

2 eggs, slightly beaten 1 cup light corn syrup 1/4 cup brown sugar 1 Tbsp molasses 2 Tbsp melted butter 2 Tbsp flour 1/4 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 1/4 cups pecans, coarsely chopped

1 9-inch pie shell, chilled for an hour if freshly made, defrosted for 10 minutes if frozen.

Bill - you had asked for the Sausage Stuffing recipe and I just found it.

1 pd Rudy's sausage 2 1/2 c (8oz) cornbread stuffing - dry 2 1/2 c (8oz) herb stuffing - dry 2 can's (14.5 oz) broth 1 large onion chopped 1/2 c melted margarine 1 tsp salt 1/4 tsp pepper 1 tblsp poultry seasoning

Brown sausage and drain. Cook onion in butter. Mix all other ingredients and put w/ sausage and onion. Mix well.

Put in 13 x 9 pan and bake for 35 min @ 350 degrees.

Hi Bill, I saw the hometown opry slideshow and would like to know if there is any way I can get a copy. My Nephew Ethan and his band Full Throttle Bluegrass are featured in this slideshow for the Hometown Opry. We would like to have a copy to keep for the band, just for memories. If you would, please contact me at lindafcrider@yahoo.com or www.fullthrottlebluegrass.com Thanks again, Linda Crider

wishing you and your family a wonderful christmas and a Happy New Year filled with love, peace and good health!! Sarah leaves for Aspen on Dec 25th babysitting for a fmaily she sits for in Wilmignton!! twyla

Bill, I heard your music today on coats for the children, absolutely beatuiful!

Good Monday Morning....have a great one!

Hey Bill, help us out here. Angela has posted, and the GoLo family would love to hear from you as well.

Almost everybody has a “Christmas Tradition” that they look forward to observing every year.

Some traditions go back for years and years, while some were recently born due to a new child, spouse or significant other. Some are very deep rooted in family values and some are just fun.

Click over on my avatar and post your special “Christmas Tradition”.

On Christmas Day I will post a blog and share your tradition for the GOLO family to enjoy as well.

Loved your New Years Resolutions. I have also enjoyed the Raleigh Christmas CD featuring one of your compositions. Very pretty.

BILL,I LOVE READING THE STORIES ABOUT THE MOUNTAINS SO KEEP THEM COMIMG.LIKE YOU,I THINK THE MOUNTAINS ARE THE MOST BEAUTIFUL THING GOD CREATED.

Love the mountain pics. And your commentary adds to the images.

What are you shooting with?

I am new to the area and still figuring out where to shoot. I look forward to more of your images!

I don't know you personally, but I sure do enjoy all the blogs and add-ons that you give to this site. Thanks!

The Grove Park Inn was built from the boulders that were removed when Town Mtn. Rd. was built many years ago. This road begins just on the town side of the tunnel and heads up Town Mountain overlooking Asheville and ends into the Blue Ridge Parkway. Asheville is a town that never really recovered from the Great Depression. That's evident as you drive through downtown and see all the old buildings. It's growing slowly, but most of the growth is outside of town, especially south towards Arden. The Folk Art Center is a nice change to see, with handmade crafts from locals. For breathtaking views, drive up Strafford Rd. off Merrimon Ave. just past Beaver Lake...Renolds (sp) Mtn. has been built up with expensive homes and the views of Beaver Lake are awesome. I spent many afternoons 4-wheeling that mountain many years ago, and fishing Beaver Lake ever other day when I was a kid. For great views of town, go north on Merrimon Ave from town, take a left at Gracyln Rd and keep straight.

For best view of Asheville...from Grove park Inn: Drive back from Inn to Charlotte St. (city park in front of you). Turn right onto Charlotte St. Take first left onto Edwin Pl (might be Evelyn Pl., but borders small park). At first red light, turn right onto Kimberely Ave. At first 4-way stop sign turn left onto Gracelyn Rd. At next light go straight - this crosses Merrimon Ave. and turns into Colonial Pl. Go straight till road bears right (all uphill). This should now be Cambridge Pl. Turn left onto Horizon Hill Pl. (steep uphill). Turn left onto Horizon Hill Rd. City will be to your left. Excellent view from above! Mapquest has printable map. Enjoy if you go. Take camera for awesome shot of town.

Best time for views is before the leaves sprout their leaves.
