Now living in Youngsville. My occupation was International Import/Export Customs Regulations/Law for 26 years. Took a very early Retirement. Do need to find a part time job though. To much time on my hands.

Take it one day at a time.  

I have been through so much over the past 2 years including the death of my father, if you knew everything I've been through, you wouldn't believe it. The most important thing I've learned over the past 2 years is no matter what you have been through there is alway's hope and friendship.

Treat people the way you would want to be treated.

Christmas was great John. We did it in Winston / Salem. We came on back about 1:30 yesterday - we started at 9 with a brunch and it worked out well. I called that forcast wrong for my house. It has been pouring down since 6 this morning and has not stopped. I can't find one of my dogs and don't know where he would be unless he is laying under someones barn somewhere. It is not like him not to be in his house. I am going to look around a bit here in the next 30 or so when I make a grocery store run. This rain has been welcomed and it just makes for a "good" day.

John, My dog was in his house - he had backed up so far in the back I couldn't see him from the window. He had been out this morning because he was wet the other two have been in there houses all morning. They alternate around so no one has a special house. I have two of the large dogaloos and he was in the back of one of them. I guess he was a bit cold after being in the rain all morning. He was the one I would expect to be the least likly of walking around in the rain because it was pouring down until about 30 minutes ago. Anyway he is safe and sound....

I am a transplant as well. From the mountains of Virginia. I don't ever remember dealing with a drought, but I can agree with you on the over-reacting that takes place here. Back home, the call for an inch of snow didn't result in 400 accidents in one hour. It's like, "there will be a whole quarter inch of snow to fall. Grocery stores will be emptied within minutes, you will have to joust for the last loaf of bread, don't let children or the elderly out of their homes, and for God's sake everyone to I-40 immediately!"

I really don't know. The laws concerning public/private property and responsibilities in North Carolina are so screwy that it is amazing. But what I would do it get together with my neighbor and clean the thing out myself so that you don't flood this weekend. Then I would go before the city council or commissioners and find out exactly whose responsibility is whose. Take care of the immediate problem first even if it costs you some cash.

Thanks for the post. I hope you had a great Christmas also. We wanted to do something different for Christmas dinner so we cooked up a bunch of baby back ribs :) Now she wants to make a turkey for New Year's. Women, go figure huh?

I see those pretty babies! They are all so adorable! I do have a kitty, and I had one that just died last month, she was 17. I miss her so badly. Mickey is my tortoise calico who was found in a McDonald's several years ago during a week of rain. We had some flooding here in Wilson, and apparently she was dumped at the McD's. She was about 6 weeks old, and so tiny. Now she is HUGE and a fuzzball. She has these looks, it's so funny. I will find some pics over this long holiday weekend and get them in my profile so you can see my babies. And my other babies....my oldest is in the National Guard, he repairs Apache Helicopters. He is home now, and attending college. His unit (which is in Morrisville) will deploy again in 09. I am very proud of him, as I am of all of our hereos. My dad is retired from the Army, but I still have many friends and family on Active Duty. Thank you for the kind words, I will pass them along to Paul. My youngest, Tyler, is a Jr in High School.

Let me know when the soup is ready..Today is a good day for one. Fresh veggies is the best. I'm not planning on going out new years. Those years are over for me. I have enjoyed plenty of them. I usually watch the ball drop and the acorn and I hit the bed or watch videos. I hope the babies are all doing fine. The kids took my granddog Dexter to the vet today. He started hopping on 3 legs. We couldn't find anything wrong. Hope it's just a pulled muscle. Waiting for them to let me know. Enjoy the rain and I am going out in it to feel it on my face when it gets here. We needed it like yesteryear already...

Well John I thought I was going to learn something - they have changed the program format of the food network and I don't like it.... They show you about half of the program they use to. I have not got it figured out yet........ everyone is in such a rush and the show I was just watching.... the program ended before she ever took it out of the oven. She had a guy buy her some cold cuts in town - he delivered them and she never did anything with them..... go figure.

I live about 20 miles from Rocky Mount..... I go there mostly to shop anyway and certainly if I eat out. It is a nominal 15 - 20 minute ride.

I am not familar with those or have not paid enough attention - they sound interesting though. I caught something the other night on an infomercial that was a collapseable container that would stack when not in use....... looked pretty cool - but you never know.

There is something that has changed about the food network.. Lolly says it may be because they have more commercials now. Makes sense... I don't like it - Hell it will end up like the "weather channel" 1 minute of weather and 5 of commercials.. or watching a movie on TNT or one of those other stations..... It takes them four and a half hours to run a hour and twenty minute movie because of the commercials. You can just about forget what is going on during the commercial segs...LOL !!!!!

I have the Marie Calladers Chicken Pot Pie Recipe that I am gonna send out later this afternoon.... if I have not already told you that... sometimes my brain runs in reverse !!

Thank you again or the kind words, I have shared them with my family. My son's best friend left for Afganistan Friday, he is just a 19 year old kid, though he has trained and feels ready, I am just scared for him. I have already started making a care package for him! I will look for pictures of my kitties on disk tomorrow and try to get them posted, so be on the lookout! It has rained all day today, we have gotten alot of water standing, but I really don't want to know how many inches bad enough to go out and look at the rain gauge!

Hey John, We didn't get the rain that you got. I was watching the radar yesterday and it looked like it went west of 95 and east of here. We had rain all day but it was just a constant drizzle... I am glad that you have started getting some there - of course we are "downstream" from you so we will get water back in the rivers and creeks. We have not had quite the problem that everyone else has although I have been conservative anyway... actually I try and stay that way. There is no use in wasting something if you don't have to -

Did you watch the Dallas / Redskins game last night? It was a television program and not much of a ball game.....

Yes, I am a huge Packers fan, but no--I am not from Green Bay. I was in college at the same time as Brett Favre and just always liked him. He's played for the Packers 16 years now, so they have been "my" team all this time. I can honestly say that I have no idea who I'd be following if it weren't for that. Looks like okay Super Bowl chances for this year, so I am hopeful...

John, Sorry I had a couple of errands to run and didn't get back with you - It was NOT a ballgame by any means..... My dad always says PRO ball is bought..... I had a reason to believe him after watching that game last night. It was not a game - just a television show. The Chicken soup sounded great!!!! Sounds like a plan John...... You are cooking the big feast today aren't you? Black eyed peas for sure !!! We have so much food around here.... it is pathetic. My brother in law gave me about 10 pounds of sausage - from Rose Hill NC. He says it is as good as Smith's Red & White which he loves also. Hi Charles. How are you? As my Grandmother used to say when she lived in the N.E. (It's colder then a wicthes boob). Don't know how she came up with that one but she used to say that all the time. It's cold here in Youngsville. I have one of those indoor/outdoor Themometer's and it's reading 28 degrees outside right now. To cold for this kid.
