Dear DS, Hope your weekend was good. w saw the opera "Marriage of Figaro" Sat night. I had the 8th row, center. Man if I could see the Stones like that! As a lady in my sunday school described Rachael in the Rachael and Leah story, the opera was smoking hot. I see you put up gardening gloves early. I had to come in early today.

Goodday as they say in Australia. How are you doing and even though I haven't read the book, I've seen the geisha movie and it was kind of sad to me. I enjoyed it though.

Thanks for the comments Dolly. Trebuchet. Now I knew I'd heard that word on the Discovery Channel or somewhere's so I had to Google Image it. Now there ya've done it. I see I'm learning French finally. Thanks. Take care. :)

Dolly, sounds like y'all have a full plate in front of ya and that's good. I used to subscribe to Our State years ago and used it to give me ideas for road trips. Seems like they always had a knack to uncover little places, people and events that gives NC it's "flavor" and distinctness from others places. LO(LOL...ya know, after talking to you here, I just might have to renew. Will that be a commission for you? ;)

Thanks! I like your Wonder Woman- she rocks!

Mornin' Dolly, yeah...I kind of was self exhorting with that sentiment. I had read JLS years ago, and didn't realize some of the deeper meanings to it. It seemed then, just simple little story. But I think now there's a chord that resonates with some of us that read past the few pages in that book. Yeah, I needed it too, but I'm glad it helped in some way. We all need a bit of encouragement from time to time. LOL, and on graveyard shift, which I'm on this week, I need it even more than normal. I took the picture from the information center at Jordan Dam this morning after I left work. The sunrise was really neat to watch unfold. P.S. Don't tell anyone, I think the bird in the pic was either a buzzard or a crow, there were several of both flying about over the spillway when I took the picture. But, it's flight and freedom that's the important thing here...not the bird itself! :) Have a Great Day! And fly to your hearts content...even with your feet on the ground.

This is definition from Wikepedia:"When making smoked meats, fish or cheese, smoke condensates can completely and efficiently replace the traditional smoking process. Liquid smoke/ smoke condensates provide a smoke flavor, color, texture, as well as antimicrobial and antioxidant protection to foods. They can also be added to foods, such as BBQ sauce and potato chips, to provide a smoky flavor." It comes in a little bottle..different flavors...I've used it in baked beans, sauces, beef jerky, and different meat dishes....

I think so, a little goes a long way! You can get it in different flavors..hickory,mesquite, etc..

Dolly, I posted movie reviews here and now I am back. I will still be posting the movie reviews just from a new name. TheKidisBackNow does hollywood!

Good stuff!!! I always just used my initials they were pretty close to kid. Had 2 of the 3 letters the same lol.

Well glad you remembered, you will hopefully be seeing some movie reviews soon again.

Hello Wonder woman, it was a nice surprise to get your blog. I wasn't expecting that. I looked up Jamiroquai on the internet. I've never heard of them. Sorry. Hope you have a good weekend. I just came across a good idea for an outing with my daughter. The airborne museum in Fayetteville. She likes parachute toys, but to see one hanging from the ceiling in full gear, now thats something. ! Ciao for now.

Hooray 82nd. They deserve to come home. I was at Fort Bragg in the 18th Airborne Corp from 1980-81. Then got transferred to Mannheim, Germany. I'm sitting here eating a pint of B&R ice cream. man...you must work a lot...its a job for wonder woman.

Well, not really sure just yet!!! My have to play it as it goes. We are visiting some of my parents friends. Or better yet they are visiting us from San Antonio, so the girlfriend and I are going to visit them at my parents house.

Congrats on your article in the October issue of "Our State" magazine. I totally enjoy the "Taste of North Carolina" section and have long enjoyed Seven Sisters restaurant in Angier. Looking forward to future articles.

Hi Dolly

Most of the guys are out in the field on projects today. I told our secretary Donna that you contacted me about sending you a picture of Brian's pumpkin, and we both think it's a good idea and will make him very happy (he's in New Bern for the week). So either this afternoon or in the morning, I'll get one of the guys to make and upload a picture so I can send it to you. Thanks very much!

Blessings of the Season Paula

Good afternoon wonder woman, Hope you're having a wonderful day. I made a 2nd tape for you 3 weeks ago. A 3rd last night. Dont panic, I had visions of all the music I could share when I thought of the 1st one. I do have to pace myself! :) I don't want to flood you. Also, included will be an Army publication that you might like looking over. Ciao bella,-6

I agree.... actually if it has pie in its name, its one of my best friends...hehehe

LOL!!! Now thats a good pie. I love cherry pie.

Dolly, just the other day I was thinking about Life. Mine, at a young age my parents would beat me because I did poorly in school, both told me that I would never amount to anything, being tired of the abuse at the age of 14 I lied about my age and got a job as an electronic technician. I told my parents that I was going to save my money, graduate high school and leave and vowed to never return. And again I got that “you will never amount to anything”. I graduated high school, put my self through college and later joined the military. Upon my retirement I liquidated everything I owned, and moved south, Deep South. Today the very beach that I sit on is mine free and clear. I own my own home valued at over a half million dollars of which is paid for. I kept my vow and never did return home to my parents. So now when I get up in the morning and have my coffee on the deck over looking the pristine blue waters of the Caribbean I can say Life is Good!!!

Thanks Doll Baby!

I am doing pretty good!!! Sorry I didn't watch a movie this weekend had friends in from San Antonio. I should be seeing something this week. hopefully on Wednesday or something like that.

Hi Dolly,

Thanks for the kind words on my photos. That is a compliment coming from someone who is a serious photographer. I enjoyed your photo gallery as well. You obviously know your stuff! As you have probably guessed my photos are not from anywhere in this area or state for that matter. The day I shot those it was so pleasant and beautiful I literally had a smile on my face the whole ride. I wish I could do that every day.

I don’t ride anywhere near as often as I’d like to if for no other reason then the options are limited in this area. I ride Umstead and the tobacco trail when I can without paying a whole lot of attention to the distance.

It does sound like we have similar interests. I recently wrote a novel as well but I haven’t seriously tried selling it. Good luck with yours!

Thanks again!

Kevin

Good morning DS, You have a photo gallery? How can I see it? I'm into photography as well. I started learning about taking an interest in photography in Germany. Hope you have a terrific day. I'm taking your tapes/magazine to the P.O. today. Ciao- SD6

Hi Dolly

I emailed the pumpkin pictures just now. Hope you enjoy them

Paula

Sorry my information was incorrect, my brother tells me the man he bought the tree from was Allen McIntosh, John was his father. but yes John McIntosh was the discoverer of the McIntosh apple. I am also told that the tree is still standing today but no longer produces any fruit. I would sit in that tree and eat apples all the time

Thanks for the comment Dolly. Not the Adventures of BB?! Definitely a classic. I notice some members email each other, is that through the site, or just private exchange?

Reservior Dogs is amazing. A really great film. Did you know that Jimmy, Tarantino’s character in Pulp Fiction, is supposed to be related to Keitel’s character in RD? And of course Vic and Vincent Vega. But what was in the briefcase?

SD6 to Dolly- Are you alright? I have been logged off of my blog while transitioning to my new comapny. Just seeing how you're doing.

Hi Dolly

I heard from Brian today, he's still in New Bern, they're doing bridge inspections. He heard about my sending you the pumpkin photos, and he was really tickled about that. To let you know, Brian's lumina pumpkin won a blue ribbon, the jack-o-lantern got second place. He said he was suprised by that. Grandpa's sweet potato came in third for largest sweet potato, although second and third place weighed the same, 7 lbs. Anyway, he said the Apple Boys did well. Thanks again for everything

Paula

Wow. This is a surprise. Its great to hear from you. Though I'm very sorry about your ankle. I hope it doesn't hurt too much and that you will heal soon. I'm enjoying my new company and learning a lot. Are you at the fair every day?

Dolly- Hows your ankle doing? Did it dampen your Fair visit(s)?

ty for the compliment on the pic, Dolly. I guess it's those low angle possibilities I want to capture in the mornings on the way home from work. Hard to explain, but it's like you can see up thru forest canopy when it's lit from beneath and sideways that is normally darkened when the sun is overhead. It just is so open and different in that light. Oh no, and you're a writer to boot! A Triangle Renaissance Woman...and that is just way too cool. Do we have another Charles Frazier in the house? ;) I hope you keep at it. To be able to write a novel that drew people in would be a dizzy experience. Take care, and know that it was really good to hear from you as always.

Sd6 to wonder woman -how are you today? How is your ankle. I hope you're feeling better. You may be at home propping up your leg, I don't know. Its pouring down raining here.

Hi Dolly, its always good to hear from you. Wow, crutches, yikes. I'm sure you're glad to get rid of those. I've never had a sprained ankle. I can't imagine what that would feel like.

Hey Dolly. I enjoyed your Gardening Gloves yesterday. Do you know when you'll be in Our State next?

Thanks. I really enjoyed taking these pictures.

Thanks for the welcome! If you have any job openings please let me know....I have a B.A. in English and a minor in Writing. :)

Hey Dolly, thanks! Thanks for having you garden blog. Some times it's hard to find avid gardeners. Most are kinda out of my age range, nothing wrong with that, they're the one's that know the most about gardening! Hope you have a pleasant and rainy (in a good way) day.

Dolly what did you think of Baja Marimba Band video?

Why are you on a cane? What happened?

I saw you mentioned you are still on a cane. What in the world have you done to yourself girl??

Thank You!!! Just speak as I feel...do not like fights so stay away from those *smiles*

Bless your heart, well I am glad your ankle is getting better, That sounds painful.

Hey Dolly, last weekend I cut my power cord on mt hedge clippers. A nice use of the reset switch on my plug and a fiery flash at the blade! That could be an article for you!

Happy Halloween!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!:)

Dolly,

We have Zoysia grass in our yard and it has performed wonderfully even through the drought. It was plugged by a previous homeowner which is a good way to do it since it spreads so well. It will take about 2-3 years to get a nice full lawn if you plug it in a 12" X 12" pattern. The only thing is it turns brown and goes dormant by the end of November and stays that way until mid spring, which is ok by me since I don't have to mow it. With average rainfall in needs to be mowed about once every 7 - 10 days. Hope this helps, Mark.

lol they love to dress in those things. actually four of us spent halloween on golo laughing till we cried and our bellies hurt. best time i've had yet on here. glad you had a good one. any pics?

LOL! your pics are great! he is so cute and made a good Dracula!:)
